Not quite sure why that is put out as some sort of astounding revelation or scoop of the century ? What a waste of paper and screen estate.

The real news would be when there isn't a rightwing media bias against a Labour government.

BIossomtoes · Yesterday 12:04

Regardless of it not being a revelation to anyone here I thought it was interesting. It’s not compulsory to read it.

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 12:13

Confirmation if needed that Farage is considered a lame duck by Murdoch & friends. Presumably a result of the multiple investigations in Reform’s financial affairs. And I don’t suppose Murdoch wants his political parties controlled by crapto billionaires and GBNews owners - he’ll find the Tories an easier group to exert influence over.

I suspect there is a lot of money to be made from stirring the right wing cesspool in a way there isn't in the left wing cesspool.

It's interesting that they are shifting back to "traditional" right wing talking points and parties. If the culture war stuff can be put to bed that would be lovely.so sick of hearing about woke, especially when it's anger at laws that don't even exist in the UK.

I agree. It’s also interesting that Farage’s glory days with the right wing media might be behind him.

Or just that there is shaping up to be a showdown between the traditional right wing media (led by Murdoch) and the new boys (led by Marshall/GB News and the trolls of social media).

They are fighting over a shrinking resource.

The UK simply isn't making right wing bigots at a fast enough rate to replace those lost to nature - and hopefully diseases they could have been vaccinated against ....

BIossomtoes · Yesterday 12:30

I disagree. Danny Thomas and Tommy Robinson are in their 30s, they’re converting plenty of disenchanted millennials.

Yes, Farage and Reform have become a liability, hence the Murdoch press turning their backs on them.

Ugh. Did you have to put that thought in my head?

Sorry ☺️

Under the Mental Capacity Act people are still allowed to vote, decide on vaccinations and generally have empowerment to have decisions made on their behalf so long as they are lawful, respectful and in their best interests.

This is where I think we are at.

which is why Reform have started their own “newspaper”. It’s a sign they’ve lost favour.

it fascinates and concerns me that so much of our media - be it print or tv - is run despite massive losses.

Revenue is irrelevant if it can provide you with the government that’s sympathetic to your wider tax needs.
It’s just a tool for the wealthy.

Excellent post @Notonthestairs .

I hope there is good karma for Keir Starmer with the media one day. As in their attacks may have ended his tenure as PM but he is still honourable IMO.

That was my serious suggestion.

Less serious would have been make him a lord and foreign secretary ....
