Just had a massive downpour of rain here. Managed just about to get some weeding done.

Forecasting 0.9mm of rain later 😮

That's soggy!

Hopefully someone will be along to say that the government alerts are just scaremongering, which will magically make it all better.

placemats · 01/10/2026 13:19

Hard disagree on the sogginess of 0.9mm of rain.

My eyes missed the mm but, if it all falls in a few minutes, it's still soggy!

No share token but posted for the accompanying cartoon.

To add. "Tough love" doesn't work.

The party has also said it would look closer at whether parents' earnings and savings should be factored into welfare payments for their children.

Who remembers being 25 and hoping their parents would fill in a grant application form ?

Oh. That explains the posts I have read on here recently saying that parents should pay for their adult children.

Badenoch is going for the Nasty Party look.

Eta: I quite like BadeNOch as a nickname.

If it helps anyone, I find the Spectator articles are viewable in their entirety in “reader” on my iPhone. It seems to bypass the paywall.

What's wrong with a space between the 3rd and 4th letters.

It's nominative determinism at it's most ironic.

You can't improve on perfection.

"1D; Micheal Jackson album runs into proponent of sanguine tributary"

MNHQ feels it is racist. But calling asylum seekers invaders and rapists etc. is hunky dory.

It's perplexing

And furthermore [not good] gap [well-known racist politician] surely equals not a racist?

I am more than happy to take on all comers in a dim-off (or should that be smart-off ?) competition. Veiling insults in cr*ptic acrostics suits me fine.

And if the shoe fits and all that .... She is the opposite of good. And she embodies Mr. Powells more rabble rousing politics. Concatenating them into a bite size chunk of pure bile only seems appropriate.

Do I need to come back for a third swing ?

My take is that she's not very good at being a racist. Indeed very few racists are actually any good at it.

Concatenating. I have learned a new word today @SerendipityJane . Thank you!

placemats · 01/10/2026 15:08

All together now.

There's nothing more frightening to those who would want to divide to conquer than those who choose to work together.

Efacsen · 01/10/2026 16:30

And belated thanks to @DuncinToffee for the new thread

SerendipityJane · 01/10/2026 17:05

If Sainted Kemi really wants to tackle benefits, the fee money that is carers allowance surely needs to be ditched ? I mean 52p an hour for looking after your own family seems obscenely generous.

She really needs to look into ways to charge people for the privilege. Well, charge them more.

placemats · 01/10/2026 17:10

As in "Look love, I know it's tough but..."

Do we really care about their internal investigation? If it clears those two of what we all saw them do it only proves what low standards they have.

Yeah, I'm more interested in the met polices verdict.
