I have lost count of how many times I have traced down a "hidden" Excel spreadsheet that someone who once took a course has built a departments workflow around. Usually to circumvent the official IT provided workflow which doesn't.

Mind you, Access was worse.

And AI apps are the new Access and Excel shadow IT opportunities 😥

Notonthestairs · 01/10/2026 18:58

I’d understand a lot more of this if you’d written it in Welsh.

(I don’t speak a word of Welsh).

Access was always like being given a box of really fancy socks only to find that it's just the pair on top that has the cool patterns, the others are all plain and actually scratchy.

Our data guys use hidden spreadsheets a lot. I'm training them to just give me raw data cuts because we want to track KPIs that the Trust isn't doing (The ICB are, but won't do them for us).

The ain't saint candles are tremendous fun. They have all sorts. Politicians, comedians, sports people. Heres another one of my favourites.😉

Quite sure that BadeNOch will will gain points for her "tough love" speech. Who doesn't like a bit of the cane.

"This hurts me more than you" vibes.

countrygirl99 · 01/10/2026 19:07

I used to work with guys who were wizards at hidden spreadsheets. I never got the hang but I was forever being asked to help with normal spreadsheets. My boss was a nightmare for messing them up and asking me to find what he'd done wrong.

This is very encouraging, definitely a response to Burnham’s speech this week!

I'd be torn between Rik Mayall and the more DS2 friendly Greg Davies but I think they would want to be together.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/10/2026 22:57

Accidentally watching QT. Braverman getting her arse handed to her and being made to look like a total fool. Not really being helped by the fact that she is a total fool and that reform have no credible policies.

placemats · 01/10/2026 23:25

Don't take the spade away from Braverman, let her keep digging. What a disastrous performance. No, no,, no way am I feeling remotely sorry for her.

BIossomtoes · 01/10/2026 18:47

Looking good. That speech went down well.

I'm sure the fangirls of the sainted Kemi expect her to go down a storm at conference. 😂

Llttledrummergirl · 01/10/2026 23:33

I've just put it on and fucking hell Braverman, rewriting history or what.
The home secretary who dodged the grooming gangs issue when home secretary and screwed over the prison service is blaming everyone except herself.

Fault of police check
Fault of colleagues in the cabinet check
Fault of conservatives (I agree with this btw) except she is conveniently forgetting she was a part of it.

She really is ridiculous.
