For me:

cruising - no, you’re on a cruise

flexitarian - also no, you’re a meat eater

Reached out. That'll be contacted then.

"Love language" can just get in the bin.

A “cheeky” burger or a “cheeky” pint or whatever.

Is a "cheeky Nando's" ok though?

Journey, nourish, carve out time, whimsy.

Curated

End of discussion. Curated ear. Curated by Z List Celebrity, etc, etc.

I saw a thread title about a curated ear, it annoyed me so much, I didn't click on it, what is it ?

‘That sounds like a you problem’ - never known anyone who wasn’t a dickhead say this.

Starting any sentence with ‘kindly’

oh god yes, or gently!

Kindly and gently are always added simply to signal that the speaker or story teller has the moral high ground, generally the thing they say they did kindly or gently, or indeed are about to say, prefixed with the shield word, is just an inappropriate interference, a judgement or an insult.

"I gently explained that he was a raging arsehole"

Agree with sounds like a you problem too.

“Welcome” a baby instead of have a baby.

“Welcome” a baby instead of have a baby.

Looking forward to “meeting” my new baby.

MrsPapillon · 19/09/2026 13:12

“Don’t deep it”. Deep is an adjective, not a fucking verb, you insufferable dolt.

It seems to be a euphemism for "thought about", "co-ordinated" or possibly "designed". Or in the case of anything on Insta, etc when a post says something is curated by Z Lister they just mean promoted. If I was an actual Curator I'd be pissed off.

Yes, I saw the curated ear thread. Wanky as hell.

“Welcome” a baby instead of have a baby.

I think this proliferated initially in celebrity tattle type media to obfuscate the use of surrogacy.

Electricsausages · 19/09/2026 13:13

From the get go 😡

P00hsticks · 19/09/2026 13:14

Seconding 'holibobs' - although I hope it never actually makes it into a dictionary....

Goldenmimx · 19/09/2026 13:14

”Drinkypoos”. Ugh

Lurkingandlearning · 19/09/2026 13:15

Most of these irritate me but every time I see “naice” as in “where can I buy a naice artisanal cheese “ I clench.

YourAmberExpert · 19/09/2026 13:17

Wankiest

CeliaCanth · 19/09/2026 13:17

All work ones:

People “talking to” slides or, worse, “the deck”.

“Socialising” a new initiative (usually a wanky one) or a document.

Talking about, eg, the financial services “space” (what’s wrong with “industry” or “sector”?)

“Across the value chain”

We were all invited recently to participate in “online jams” as part of a project to help “shape the firm’s culture” - even my children cringed.

“Let’s move markets!” from a US colleague.

All dreadful.

MyManinCaracas · 19/09/2026 13:18

Occam’s Razor, always trotted out by someone who doesn’t know what it is but saw that movie from the 90s.
