For me:

cruising - no, you’re on a cruise

flexitarian - also no, you’re a meat eater

Curated, unless you work in a museum. Also colourways.

I’d say wankiest is a cringy word

No it isn't. Nothing wrong with 'wankiest' although I think 'deeply wanky' hits the spot a wee bit better.

RaraRachael · 24/09/2026 19:18

I've just seen "intentional" and "heavy lifting" - both very wanky.

I was watching Let’s Marry Harry the other night and he referred to a private jet as a PJ 🤮 I definitely had secondhand embarrassment for him 😂 🤮

I’d say that deliberately if I could afford a PJ 😂

Wealthy people who say “ya, we’ve worked hard to get to where we are…”

Tell that to an A&E nurse at the end of a long shift or a teacher trying to make a difference in a disadvantaged area at the end of a long week.

Privilege mate. Privilege is 99 times out of 100 what’s got you where you are.

Reaching out and grabbing a shower.

Grabbing a shower 🤣

Pj is so funny

Potty mouth.

Heard this nonsense twice in as many days on TV.

Should be Peter Parker the original comic book character.

‘IYKYK’. Said by wankers about usually deeply uninteresting atuff.

Grabbing a shower 🤣

My dh “grabs a shower” boils my piss every time🤣

mumumental · 24/09/2026 21:48

Can’t stand “grabbing” for having, and hate that stupid phrase “come to Jesus”.

JaneJeffer · 24/09/2026 22:16

RaraRachael · 19/09/2026 17:49

Don't come to Scotland in that case.
"Can I get" is the normal way of asking for something in a cafe, shop etc.
If I said, "Please may I have" I'd get serious eye rolling 😅

Same in Ireland 😆

StarlightLady · 25/09/2026 07:07

Overused words out of context such as “literally” flying off the shelves.

”Absolutely”.

l am “liking”.

Oh and “panties”. I just hate the word panties! 🤮

“Packed with nutrients/nutrition” can get in the bin

‘Packed with’ in general. ‘Packed with flavour’ - I’d hope so, you've just seasoned it to the nth degree and doused it in butter!

3678194b · 25/09/2026 07:27

'By the close of play'

'Nice view from the office' - when someone is on annual leave and takes a picture of their holiday with this phase.

'it's not that deep'

Plus of course, everything is packed with protein and fibre these days.

Plus those wanky sped up videos that claim that if you just throw some veg, protein, herbs and yogurt in a tray and stick it in the air fryer for 20 minutes and you have dinner. Because chicken and veg chops itself and you never look in the fridge and find 2 bendy carrots and no chicken when you want to eat soon.

tumblerforwine · 25/09/2026 11:45

When someone says I have a good relationship with food as if they are great friends.

Lomonald · 25/09/2026 11:49

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 22/09/2026 19:29

Spenny.

Because I've never heard it used outside of people trying to cajole you into following their excessively wanky and bougee choices, delivered with a twinkly wheedling tone that implies you're spoiling the fun, when in fact your only spoiling their fun ruining your bank balance.

Vogue Williams calls Spencer Mathews "Spenny" it gets right on my nerves and I am not sure why ? Anyway sorry to.derail 😀

Redheadedstepchild · 25/09/2026 12:12

"I say this with my whole chest."

I think we used to say, "With all my heart" or similar.

SunsetDrifter · 25/09/2026 12:31

I hate that everything is a "journey", "my breastfeeding journey" 🤮 stop it!! Work is the worst though, "blue sky thinking" and "low hanging fruit" give me rage along with many many other wanky work phrases along the same lines. When people say "do you want to speak to this?" As in do want to present this slide. Speaking to the slides, what? No I'm presenting them!!!

I've just joined a new team and they have a "watercooler session" which is basically a pointless meeting to socialise virtually on teams. I mean why the wanky name?!

I really hate when people use "gifted" as in they gifted something to someone, stop it!!

RaraRachael · 25/09/2026 13:18

I used to go to a church where they talked about "giftjngs". I couldn't understand why it was plural as I assumed they meant gifting money which made sense.
They actually meant talents that we could bring to the church so my gifting would have been music.
Nonsense.

Redheadedstepchild · 25/09/2026 13:20

Mog, mogging, mogged.
