For me:

cruising - no, you’re on a cruise

flexitarian - also no, you’re a meat eater

Making memories 🤮

Reaching out - still winds me right up.

Authentic and wholesome- both said by my lovely but oh so woke new member of staff.

Healing - just say getting better/over it.

shuggles · 19/09/2026 14:25

@IamNatashaSparaks cruising - no, you’re on a cruise

That's not what cruising means. Cruising is when gay men lurk around public locations to meet other gay men.

shuggles · 19/09/2026 14:28

@Lomonald and "come with me" can bugger off.

What on earth?

So if you want to bring someone from point A to point B, what would you say?

Cucurella · 19/09/2026 14:29

Fur baby
Over the rainbow bridge
Making memories
Hollibobs
be kind
Empathy, so overused

AitkenDrum1970 · 19/09/2026 14:32

Space when you mean room. Iconic. Wild swimming. Making memories. I could go on …

Artesia · 19/09/2026 14:33

"Little family". Often seen on here by people who like to spend winter afternoons snuggling under blankets and view hot chocolate as an activity rather than a drink.

Additup · 19/09/2026 14:34

'Educate yourself'

I've never heard anyone say it who wasn't an tool themselves.

Cadeaukatze · 19/09/2026 14:34

Parenting

people don't parent, they are parents

I think people think it inflates the importance of having kids

Reaching out and grabbing a shower.

‘Grabbing’ anything and everything. Ridiculously ubiquitous.

All work ones:

People “talking to” slides or, worse, “the deck”.

“Socialising” a new initiative (usually a wanky one) or a document.

Talking about, eg, the financial services “space” (what’s wrong with “industry” or “sector”?)

“Across the value chain”

We were all invited recently to participate in “online jams” as part of a project to help “shape the firm’s culture” - even my children cringed.

“Let’s move markets!” from a US colleague.

All dreadful.

Are you me :)

I hate the talking "to" something too. What happened to "about".

And agree about "space" although that isn't new, it was being used in the late 90s/early 00s.

And not work but excited for when people mean excited about.

treacledan71 · 19/09/2026 14:41

LOTS of young people at my work say amazing even when it's not say you say I signed that paper lol. Nice people people though it's just a bit false and ott.

Yes and "jumping" on a call. Why would I jump?

Or muddled in your case.

Also; we will journey together and explore together the meaning of . . (Probably the longest book of the Old Testament).

It's a people on the Internet phrase when they want to show you something.

piscofrisco · 19/09/2026 13:42

Well you won’t like what I believe is going to be next in this category then…I was on holiday in a place with lots of Americans and they ordered drinks and meals with ‘can I do?’ ‘I think I’ll do …a tequila and a beer…’ ‘I’ll do the steak’ …. Please no.

It's just standard in America though

Picky bits or picky tea and I don’t care even if it’s M&S picky bits, it still sounds like you’re eating scabs 🤮

it’s giving

let’s normalise

my grandmother told me about <insert made up psychological sounding theory that she definitely didn’t tell you about> and now I can’t unhear it

and it’s not a wanky saying but i‘m adding in those identical awful posters that are everywhere on social media for everything because that’s what AI thinks a poster should now look like and they are literally everywhere. You may as well advertise that you have zero imagination or talent. My kids school even uses them, I emailed them to say surely you could find ONE KID who could design you a poster? Surely.

The bit about picky bits made me laugh more than anything has in a long time 🤣

Although, what ai posters do you mean??

shuggles · 19/09/2026 14:58

Lomonald · 19/09/2026 14:51

It's a people on the Internet phrase when they want to show you something.

In my almost 30 years of using the internet, I have never seen someone say "come with me."

However, I have had a number of people in real life say "come with me" when they want me to follow them from point A to point B.

Utterlybutter · 19/09/2026 15:02

"my bad" "reach out" "have a nice day" (from a random on the phone or in a shop) "hubby" "staycation"

I could go on.

Hantsmother · 19/09/2026 15:03
