For me:

cruising - no, you’re on a cruise

flexitarian - also no, you’re a meat eater

That was Jaime Winstone. I couldn't even begin to work out whether someone matched my energy. What does it even mean?

Means they are "wacky" and irritating.

RaraRachael · 21/09/2026 10:30

Starting every sentence with, "So ....". My kids do it snd it drives me mad, especially as there's always an exaggerated pause before he launches into the sentence.

POV before a post. Totally pointless and unnecessary.

Typical certain kind of actor then?

EmailsaysOOO · 22/09/2026 10:40

Haven't kept up with the whole thread..

What to me is a sign of wankiness is use of the phrase - bandwidth. Always used in the context of supreme wankery.

I was watching Let’s Marry Harry the other night and he referred to a private jet as a PJ 🤮 I definitely had secondhand embarrassment for him 😂 🤮

Has ‘stinking cute’ been mentioned? The first time I heard it I thought it was just the musings of one solitary idiot. Now I’m hearing it all the time. I feel like setting my head on fire just typing it here😆

Agreed, it’s appalling, it makes me cringe myself inside out.

Living my truth / my authentic self.

Guaranteed to be an insufferable bore.

I see this a lot by Americans so I presumed it originated there.

Kindly / be kind

Utterlybutter · 22/09/2026 17:36

"making memories"

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 22/09/2026 18:26

Decompress. I’ve never seen/heard it used anywhere other than MN.

Oh, and ‘plant based’. Drives me mad. It’s used on everything these days as if it’s some sort of virtuous attribute.

Tbf that’s because Vegan is considered to be more than just ‘without animal products’ and has to mean foods that are ethically sourced, don’t cause deforestation or extreme air miles etc.

Plant based is easier because you don’t have to care about any of that. It just doesn’t have animal products in it.

What about the name Jaime. I haven't lived in the UK for 26 years so do you sqy, "Jamie" or Jayme or Spanish Haymee?

Too confusing.

Jamie apparently

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 22/09/2026 19:29

Spenny.

Because I've never heard it used outside of people trying to cajole you into following their excessively wanky and bougee choices, delivered with a twinkly wheedling tone that implies you're spoiling the fun, when in fact your only spoiling their fun ruining your bank balance.

"making memories"

I know what you mean. It's very cringey. But I've been really ill this year and now I just think that's really pretty much all I want to do these days. So when people say it, I reckon ( certainly for some of them), it means they've had some shitty times that are making them think - what is the whole point of life? If you aren't working to pay bills, what else do we do with this life. Yikes, sorry that went a bit deep. Just wanted to put my take on it

"Love language" can just get in the bin.

Oh it makes me shudder.
