And neither do the posters who are saying he was commiting the legal offence of murder yet they are sure in a split second he saw a woman registered a bus coming up from behind him and had a coherent thought that it was an opportunity to murder a stranger

Usually the simple explanation is the correct one, in this case he was one of the seemingly significant number of men who push women out of their way for no reason other than that is their personality

No, they dont (not that Ive seen anyone claim this), nobody does, so all we can go off is the footage, which looks pretty fucking deliberate, so its hardly an outrageous conclusion for people to come to.

Not a great loss to society.

From what I read he enjoyed a career through who he knew not what he knew. How can someone do a degree in politics and philosophy and end up as a millionaire banker?

I have to say I was wondering the same. My first degree is in philosophy and I find it hard to imagine my career being army captain then director of a private bank. I mean, I understand the concept of transferrable skills but I think I'd struggle to even get an interview. It's really quite incredible but this set of circumstances perhaps shows that putting people in positions they're not right or ready for doesn't always do them a favour. Problematic personality combined with high stress and drug use.

What do you consider to be the most important attributes for a leader?

Compassion, adaptability, resilience and humility – the best leaders serve. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s motto is, “Serve To Lead”.

Who do you most admire and why?

My mother! She raised three children as a single parent and is the busiest person I know. I’ve never met someone with greater moral integrity and courage, as well as resilience and stamina. She can make herself an expert in any field and her physical endurance is unparalleled. She’d outmarch the SAS and do it in high heels.

Just to say he had been arrested but not charged. It doesn't follow he was guilty/was in fact the Putney Pusher. As the BBC article says:

Detectives identified more than 50 people of interest following the incident.
The Met had initially closed its investigation in 2018 after three men had been arrested and released without charge.

It's not impossible that he was innocent and the death was unconnected or that he was innocent but felt he was going to be scapegoated.

It would be terrible if he was not the Putney Pusher but gets treated in death as if he was just because he had been arrested. Imagine he was innocent and that was your son/husband/friend.

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 16/09/2026 17:14

Interesting choice for HSBC to show him off and City Wealth to interview him in 2026. Even more eyebrow raising is his claim to value "compassion".

Wouldnt he have been able to prove innocence People in these sorts of high powered careers have records and diaries of meetings and work events etc which prove where they were and what they were doing.

If he were innocent, the real one would still be out there, which to me is a greater concern (while also taking your point).

I believe this chap was arrested after his ex contacted the police.

Let’s hope they’re able to say something about their level of confidence in the evidence. They wouldn’t arrest on a whim, or feel pressured to make ‘any arrest’ for a case as old as this one though, albeit a high profile case.

TortoiseWhoLovesStrawberries · 16/09/2026 17:27

I don't feel sorry for this guy at all. He's had years to do the right thing and come forward, but instead continued to hide. From his interviews, it seems as if he thought he would never be found out..

Presumably, he was about to be charged with the pushing offence.

Is there a technical term for that?

It would be, but the most obvious explanation is that he did it and having to face the music led to his suicide.

His past misdemeanors like running someone down on a motorbike are of the same ilk and show the interview he gave was a load of old bollocks. When he ran the lady down he didn't even bother with stopping.

Empathetic my arse, over entitled toe rag who thought he was above normal folk and untouchable.

It's not just men that push though - a woman pushed another woman on a bike a few years ago and the cyclist woman died. The pusher had mental health issues, but I do wonder if she'd have done the same to a man. I think all we can say is that people push women.

That was an absolute tragedy, but if it's the case I remember, the "pusher" was a partially sighted woman who startled the cyclist off a shared path by yelling and flailing at her in alarm, probably because she'd not seen her coming.

rollypollly · 16/09/2026 17:39

Not necessarily given when he was arrested and how long ago it was. Who knows whether it was him or not? The point I'm making is that 3 other people were arrested previously but there was never a trial. This man wasn't charged either. If there wasn't any question, he'd have been charged not be still under investigation.

shuggles · 16/09/2026 17:39

Dozens of people in this thread are talking about how disgusting and horrible this man is, and there is no doubt that that is correct.

But the point that no one can answer, and no one can dodge, is the fact that he was married. Why is it that the absolute worst men have absolutely no difficulty finding partners?

PlantainArama · 16/09/2026 17:40

The bridge in question, just in case nobody else has mentioned, has a wide-ish pavement and the road is extremely congested and bus heavy.

During the daytime, there's literally never going to be a bus-free moment. The bridge leads off a famously congested and polluted high street.

I'm adding this to say that it would be very hard indeed to argue that one wasn't aware of the consequences of pushing someone into this particular road. And if you are an arsehole finding his way blocked, the path is several people wide, wide enough to push a person away from the road. Or you could choose to push one of the people who is further from the road.

WTF!? Why? He may well have tried to murder a woman. He nearly killed someone on his motorbike.

Hopefully this poundshop Prince Andrew won't rest at all.

I'm astounded by your heartlessness.
The man is dead, he isn't coming back.

As someone who has also been pushed into moving traffic by a man unknown to me, I can’t say I’m sad to hear this.

I was pushed off my bike when I was pregnant! Seems there’s a lot of these tossers around.

HoraceCope · 16/09/2026 17:45

when was he found guilty? Confused
in 2018 the police closed the case

dreamingofgoodhair · 16/09/2026 17:46

2ndHandLou · 16/09/2026 15:16

I don't think whoever did was trying to murder the stranger to him, it could have ended with her death but you aren't suggesting that person planned to kill someone are you?

If you push someone Into the path of a bus there’s a chance you will kill them.

One of those arrogant London b*stards who like shoving women for no reason. Why am I not surprised that he was in court for riding a motorbike into a woman also? I’ve lost count of the amount of times men in London have shoved me - so nasty, and I don’t scare easily. The Putney Pusher story never surprised me in the first place - London is full of them.

I hate to question someone's lived experience as they say, but...WHAT? I've lived in London 30 years and never once had a man randomly shove me, nor heard of this from any of my friends.
