Do you usually take a glass of water to bed?

New couple. One always takes a glass of water to bed. The other never does. Both think the other is strange (light heartedly). What is normal for you?

Yes, but mainly because of the number of pills I take these days.

HoldMyWine · 30/08/2026 21:32

I always have a glass of water, don’t always drink it.

Disturbia81 · 30/08/2026 21:32

I don’t as I don’t want to be weeing more than I do, but all the men I’ve known have

GiveMeWordGames · 30/08/2026 21:32

Always. If I don't drink from it, it just goes in the kettle the next morning.

Normal sized glass unless I've had a few, in which case, pint mug.😁

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 30/08/2026 21:33

No, never. Why would I need water if I'm asleep?

Legomum789 · 30/08/2026 21:34

I used to keep a glass of water by my bed until I woke to find my dog drinking from it! Yuck!
I keep a glass in the bathroom now as I often get thirsty in the night (or is it just habit? I don’t know)

Mumsntfan1 · 30/08/2026 21:34

Yes, I always do. This guarantees that I don't get thirsty in the night.

Pumpup · 30/08/2026 21:34

So I never used to, when I got with my now DH he did, and I thought it was so strange! About 15 years in together I started taking water to bed, most notably because I was up breastfeeding in night, and I’ve continued to take water to bed since.
but yes originally I thought it bizarre to take water to bed, now I panic if I get in bed and realise I forgot my water 😂

noidea02 · 30/08/2026 21:35

Yes always a big glass. And it’s always nearly empty in the morning so I must drink it when I’m half asleep going for one of my loo trips in the night!!

Lookupdontlookleft · 30/08/2026 21:35

Yes 500ml water bottle less likely to knock it over.
I have it in the night if I need to take painkillers or before I get up in the morning to help with dizzy symptoms.

Specialneedsnightmare · 30/08/2026 21:35

Yes every night.

TheOttey · 30/08/2026 21:35

Always. I usually have a sip every time I get up. I would never not drink in order to avoid needing a wee.

Hycosaneyedrops · 30/08/2026 21:36

I take a bottle of water up to bed every night, have done for as long as I can remember

caringcarer · 30/08/2026 21:37

Yes, a glass every night. I always wake up to wee in the night so take a sip of water before I go back to sleep. I used it to take pills in morning too.

danglethedingle · 30/08/2026 21:37

Yes, but I have to take medication an hour before I eat, so taking them in bed when I first wake up is the most convenient.

TheChosenTwo · 30/08/2026 21:37

A water bottle, yes. I’d likely knock a glass over in the night. I don’t sleep well so although I go to bed at a reasonable hour I tend to be awake for a good 3 hours before I go to sleep and then wake up at about 5am, I don’t want to get up and about then but will happily lie in bed reading until it’s time to get up so I like having a drink nearby.

beigepaints · 30/08/2026 21:38

I have a bottle of water

Hoork · 30/08/2026 21:38

I take a bottle of water.

canthavetoomanylights · 30/08/2026 21:38

Not unless im ill. This obsession with drinking 24/7 baffles me. If I was waking up thirsty enough to want water I’d be seeing by GP for a fasting blood sugar.

BrokenJemima · 30/08/2026 21:38

I do and rarely drink in the night but always when I wake up

beigepaints · 30/08/2026 21:38

I like a big glue upon waking, I don’t wake up to go to the toilet.

Traceyatnumber32isaloudgobshite · 30/08/2026 21:39

For a moment o thought this might be another Penis Beaker thread....but no thankfully that's just the one!🤣🤣

Yes I take a glass of water to bed....feels drinking. No penis dunking or cleaning goes on in my glass of water!!!

TooOrangey · 30/08/2026 21:39

We always do. I don’t drink mine, ever. My husband glugs his down when he wakes up as apparently that’s really good for your gut biome, or something.

Troublein · 30/08/2026 21:39

We have small carafes of water with the glass doubling as a lid in every bedroom.

I don't always drink any, but it's always there.

dreamiesformolly · 30/08/2026 21:40

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 30/08/2026 21:33

No, never. Why would I need water if I'm asleep?

Do you never wake up in the night? If not, I’m jealous…
