I'll start:

travel trousers. - just put some jogging bottoms or leggings on for God sake and stop being a twat
Wills - Maybe nobody I know inherits any money, but wills seem to be a big deal on here

Sounds like you probably embarrassed them with all that fuss. They just want to pee in peace and be treated like everyone else; making a big deal of it is quite transphobic.

I didn't embarrass anybody. They were being very flamboyant in the queue (and pub generally) and some women were making a big fuss of them, but they were hardly trying not to be noticed.

Trans people
Private schools

YES ! Trans people really annoy a lot of MNers.

On thia occasion they were treated like celebrities. Busy toilet in city centre pub, everyone excited by the novelty, not worried about men in the ladies.

Why would a trans pwrson want to look at ypu or others in a toilet...I do not get thos mentality or lack of logic....or none id say.
Moron poster.

Quel surprise.

@PatriciaRocks some people will find a way to bring the subject of trans rights into anything at all..

GladBiscuit · 26/08/2026 10:31

Views on teenagers. I see comments on MN about teenagers that only care about school and sports and don’t want to have sex or smoke or drink or swear or go out ever. This is fine if true, we are all different, but then those posters will berate other posters who have teens who do. Teenagers are a bit wild, they always have been a bit wild, they rebel and test the waters, if yours don’t then fine, but that doesn’t make you a better parent or your teens better people.

Talking about Christmas before mid November
MIL issues
Gifted DC
Trans issues
Having an opinion on other mums being a SAHM or not. Definitely not giving said mums unsolicited advice or opinions Shock
Issues around dogs. In real life, nobody cares if the owners both work, dare I say… 5 days a week at the office

I start work christmas calendar in August😂 only because they banned me from doing it in June.
Ours do sometimes include international movements though

I think M&S trousers is a strange one, though!

Mycatmax · 26/08/2026 10:39

Trans people.

Loo brushes.

TigerRag · 26/08/2026 10:42

How everyone apparently knows someone committing benefit fraud but won't do anything about it apart from moan on here

ExOptimist · 26/08/2026 10:44

I recently have talked with family and friends about lots of these issues - Wills, powers of attorney, trans rights/ trans people, women's rights, Meghan and Harry, people visiting newborns, wedding issues.

dolwop · 26/08/2026 10:44

Agree with private schools, IRL none of my friends/family went to private school or send their children to them. I definitely think I’m in the wrong tax bracket for mumsnet sometimes.

MyKindHiker · 26/08/2026 10:47

Traypaint · 26/08/2026 10:05

Yes Trans for me too. Everyone I know thinks live and let live. I've only experienced Trans women in the ladies once and they were universally welcomed.

Universally welcomed apart from the one mumsnetter who had barricaded herself into a stall in TERROR 🤣

slashlover · 26/08/2026 10:48

Russell Group universities.

Only ever heard about them on here.

6ate9 · 26/08/2026 10:50

@Traypaint ”not worried about men in the ladies.”

At least you acknowledge they were men!
Men have no rights to be in the ladies, even if they’re ‘universally welcomed’!

I think if you have DC in post 16 education, you'd probably hear about them.

A what is middle-class bun fight is always good fun!

Housework
No visitors allowed when there is a new baby
Nub theory
Class
Tradesmen using the bog
Tipping
Having a cleaner

The baby thing has to just be on MN. I have never in my life (and I’m in my 60s) come across anyone being so precious that no one can see their new baby (serious baby illness in hospital excepted). It’s always been fine for anyone who wants to see new baby, be it family or friends. Barring even grandparents on here just doesn’t exist as the norm in the real world.

I see RSV and kissing etc with visitors discussed a lot outside of MN, I certainly did when I had my last and I saw a doctor talking about it a while back. Don’t think it’s that unreasonable when you have a newborn at all. RSV was on the rise a few winters back, discussing how to reduce the spread is normal.

Thrump · 26/08/2026 10:54

I always visit babies! Nobody has ever told me not to come and cuddle their dear baby. Oh it makes me feel really sad to think people are experiencing that. New babies are such a joy.

I do think the version of the world presented on MN often seems a much colder, lonelier world than I've ever lived in, and I'm not sorry I'm in this other reality.

thisismeithinkorisit · 26/08/2026 10:54

Harry and Megan
How little your friends care about your life - weddings, births, bortbdays. On MN no one cares about you or wants to celebrate with you. In real life, my friends and I actually like each other.
Birthdays being only for children otherwise you're pathetic and ridiculous.

Proved the point!

RaraRachael · 26/08/2026 10:56

Sex. I have never discussed sex with anyone IRL

wishingonastar101 · 26/08/2026 10:57

People being terrified of other countries / travel.

That's because some of us are vulnerable and/or immunocompromised or spend time around people who are 🙄

Yes! My son is on biologics for IBD and a dose of Covid could make him seriously ill. He’s entitled to antivirals. So we like to know whether it’s Covid we’re dealing with and that involves testing. The blasé attitude of some people takes my breath away. It’s almost as if nobody ever died of Covid or there aren’t thousands of people living with long Covid. But hey, it’s just a cold and we need to put all that pandemic nonsense behind us.
