Things that people bang on about on here that you never hear discussed in real life

I'll start:

travel trousers. - just put some jogging bottoms or leggings on for God sake and stop being a twat
Wills - Maybe nobody I know inherits any money, but wills seem to be a big deal on here

@ThisShyTaupeFinch, actually @Screamingabdabz speaks for quite a lot of women. Many people have concerns about single sex spaces. Just because you’ve never heard it discussed in real life doesn’t really mean anything. Screaming is not making the thread all about her.

I've come to the conclusion that some people just don't discuss much at all, including important financial concerns or things which are headline news.
Each to their own.

An awful lot of people spend an awful lot of time talking about celebrities and shopping, in my experience. Oh, and themselves. Many people just talk about themselves all the time which can be incredibly boring and frustrating for the listener.

How frustrating. My friends tend to talk politics, current affairs, what the headline news is, etc. some talk of wills and pensions because of looming retirement.
Recent conversations about Meghan and Harry because it's been headline news on the BBC. A lot about those young drivers causing tragic accidents.
Oh and Dolly. We all feel sad about Dolly!

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 26/08/2026 16:19

Tiffin.(I think its a public school) I know its not something thats ever going to affect me. Unless it's the very tasty type that comes in those natty layered tins.

MrsBatshitRatshit · 26/08/2026 16:28

Whether someone is 'judging' the poster's home, lifestyle, children, alcohol consumption.......in real life it's very unlikely that anyone is keeping tabs on any of these things and why would you care if they did?

Don’t be fooled 😉

Anyone who has tens of thousands of income free for school fees is certainly much wealthier than me!

Wait, you’ve only ever known ONE couple who’ve got divorced??? I’m pretty sure that makes you the outlier. What are you, Amish?

My parents and two siblings are all divorced and I’ve got at least a dozen friends I could name of the top of my head.

*tbf, my family are shit at relationships, but the point stands.

No. Actually, I’ve remembered one of DF’s cousins got divorced, but I haven’t seen her for 50 - 60 years. I only know about it, from studying the family tree.

Livelovelaughfuckoff · 26/08/2026 16:31

Russel Group universities. I mean people do discuss university but have never in real life heard anyone talk about an RG uni and I know several friends who dc are at one or have applied to one

That's a classic misuse of statistics, though. They're telling us what proportion of the 10% wealthiest families send their kids to private school - which tells us nothing about what proportion of private schools' intake is made up of wealthy families' children. It could be 99% for all we know, based on that post. (I'm sure it's not, but you get the idea)

QueefQueen80s · 26/08/2026 17:24

older men and younger women. I see it in the celeb world or wealthy world but otherwise people are with people their age, and I am all over the place knowing a lot of people through my job etc.

Trans- in the last month I have come across two people that I and others have accidentally misgendered in a volunteering capacity. Both have gently corrected us. I did hear one say completely unprovoked that they are scared about the number of anti trans groups out there and why can't they just use the bathroom they want in peace.
Both in their early to mid 20s I guess so like with most things it depends on the people you mix with.

Edited

🙄🙄🙄
I’m scared of all the disability-rights groups because they won’t let me use facilities designed for disabled people whenever I feel like it.

I have no friends or relatives who got divorced. Some people know lots of divorced people. Either situation is perfectly ordinary.

I have plenty of friends who are divorced, a couple of family members who are and also have plenty of friends and family who have been married for over 25 years.

Not sure if I’m supposed to feel wounded by being labelled a TERF? (I don’t).

This thread has covered trans issues, finances, trousers suitable for travel, private schools, divorce, wills and a whole load more. So no, Terfs haven’t made this thread about themselves, in the same way that those posting about wills or private schools have made it about them.

In my opinion you have. I am allowed an opinion you know.

Waitingfordoggo · 26/08/2026 18:13

You definitely are @Differentforgirls. Not sure if you’ve maybe missed it but this is how discussion forums work. Someone posts an opinion, someone else agrees or disagrees, and then it just runs from there. It’s not a case of me or anyone else ‘allowing’ you to have an opinion- you crack on.

hardshoulderr · 26/08/2026 18:17

Go us TERFS? Terrrfific

I'd never heard of them despite living in a city which has one and my child attending and graduating from another!

ThisShyTaupeFinch · 26/08/2026 15:31

Well done for making this thread all about you!!!

How so? I didn’t mention myself once!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Doriangraysattic · 26/08/2026 18:41

'I KNOW plenty of people who are on benefits who go on holiday 7 times a year and have plenty of spare cash. I might as well give up my job and do the same'.
Also (in different forms)
'They should be made to work. PIP is totally abused. I know this for a fact, as my neighbour gets it and goes for a walk every day'
Righto

blackhorsesxx · 26/08/2026 18:47

The use of porn. None of my friends or husbands friends mention this

Bananacrepewithnuts · 26/08/2026 18:53

Noisy neighbours!

Screamingabdabz · 26/08/2026 18:53

Lifeomars · 26/08/2026 12:25

I know 4 trans people in real life, two through work and two in my social circle, I barely give it a second's thought other than to listen to one of them who confided in me about the hellish time they had with neighbours who made their live a living hell. Never in all of my long life have I ever encountered a predatory man dressed in a frock in a toilet or a changing room. I have however like countless women been abused assaulted and harrassed by straight men.

🙄 Yes. The common denominator there being men.

Men commit most of the sexual and violent crime. Surely people aren’t dumb enough to really believe that men as a sex class magically become less of a threat because they wear a dress?

We can’t police who the nice or evil ones are, or indeed mitigate for the handmaids like the ones on this thread that would happily sell their fellow women down the swannee river to suck up to a man in a frock. The only way to protect girls and women is to fight for single sex spaces.

That is what is so heartbreaking about the sneering about TERFs and ‘stick to the trans bashing board’ - it’s not even about trans really. It’s about the propensity of men to be a danger to women and how to retain safety, privacy and dignity for our sisters, mums and daughters. I’m sorry if that’s so tedious and ‘hateful’ to you.

Cakeandcardio · 26/08/2026 19:01

Posh wanks.
Nothing can make me accept that any man would want to have ADDITIONAL clean up after wanking. Plus, there's no way it feels any better. If a woman finds condoms then the ONLY reason is because her partner is cheating.
