Does anyone else feel the UK is heading towards a crisis?

Price rises not coming down, cost of living gone mad, car crashes, heatwave after heat wave, wild fires.
NHS is falling, NHS dentist is like winning the loto, threats from russia.
Bills cost more than anything.
Benefit bill is out of control.
People getting attacked.

I may have missed a few things, but it feels like the UK is just building up to something big gonna kick off.
Im sure it won't but life is just crap right now.
Not to mention we are gonna get a hell of a winter with this EL nion predicted.

I feel like saying lets have a full war and end this crap then re start again( figure of speech), not living just surviving.
And the cost of being a parent now is unreal.

I may not have worded it very well, just feel a bit meh about it all.

I think the whole world is in a state of catabolic collapse tbh.

All we can do is make the best of the good stuff and plan for whatever might come

I don't think having a war (with who??!) would sort things out tbh. Been far too much drama already these past ten years.

The dentist one is going to be dreadful... Kids that's can't get into an NHS dentist surely there will be a massive fall out from this as most just won't go.

One of the school mums I know is a health visitor and she said that a huge number of people aren’t taking their kids to the dentist if they can’t go for free. I think it almost boarders on neglect and like she said the people she visits who moan they can’t afford to take this kids all have the latest play stations, brand new sofas, are going on holiday, potentially smoke, drink, go out for meals etc etc yet they can’t spare £20 for a kids check up every 6-12 months.

I have to agree with you on this.
I pay £79 every six months for a check up.
I dont have small kids mine are adults now, but a dentist is very important.

I am very fortunate to have an NHS dentist.

When I went last week they even had a sign up saying they had vacancies for new patients but 'please DO NOT post this on social media'...

Our dentist was nhs it is now private - we pay monthly for a family plan for all 5 of us and it gives everyone 2 check ups and me and my dp as adults 2 visits to the hygienists inbetween, money off the treatments and X-rays etc etc and our dentist has referred my eldest to the orthodontists at the hospital for braces and it was accepted.
the monthly plan is about £45 for all of us and yes we could spend that money eating out or whatever but I prioritise this direct debit as keeping everyone’s teeth healthy is important and will hopefully help promote good oral health to my kids but also avoid problems as they get older.

The UK is in a shocking state and it is the crumbling infrastructure that is amongst the most worrying - see also water. Unfortunately we don’t have the money or the calibre of politicians to fix it! I feel fear for what is ahead.

Well, we don't have the money, but it's still there - just in other pockets. We need to get it back. Sadly, every time there's even a hint from politicians about taxing vested interests, everyone loses their goddamn minds and starts driving tractors round town and all that.

I definitely think the UK is deteriorating and to some extent it's imploding.

Unfortunately there are so many people with blinkers on. Probably in the nice places in England.

Surely you can see what's going on around you?

A lot of what’s on that list is directly related to our planet’s ability to sustain us. So we are all kind of at war with Gaia, and we have been winning until now.

Yes our lifestyles are changing and will continue to change whether we agree or not, whomever we vote in. It will affect everything, the energy we consume, what water we have, the food we can access, cost, money, space, air, jobs, children.

Time to adapt not despair.

But as a PP says more important to have fake nails than take your children to the dentist, we have been paying a subscription for a while for the family teeth.
