There’s a C5 documentary on Farage’s finances on 22 August. I wonder if anything new will emerge?

Reform's latest distraction

Reform would strip benefits from EU citizens with settled status, ripping up the Brexit deal & putting UK-EU migrants at risk

Jenrick was part of the 'oven ready' negotiations, he knows full well it won't happen

£5m 💰💰💰💰💰

One thing's for sure Reform is hopeless at distraction trickery.

I am sure a lot of them are bots, same as the excessively cruel fuckers on MN. That is what I tell myself.

On here you have the cohort of sociopaths who's hatred for people of colour, people on benefits and 'the left' is their motivating force. A fair few are US right. They write reasonably well and are polite but rely on false information, twisting other posters words "So you're saying that..." and virtue signalling "I care about victims...(you don't)" or assumed victim status of their own "I'm not allowed to say..."
Then you get the less intelligent who lap it all up saying "Great post" despite it being a stinking pile of irrational BS, and use more emoji than syllables.
When the content depresses me too much I focus on how many of each there is on the thread and guess how they're going to respond.

placemats · 17/08/2026 10:06

They are the same people who put a laugh emoji on Facebook when something serious is announced.

5128gap · 17/08/2026 10:19

Stock phrases
"I don't support Reform but I can see why people do..." ( If you don't stop fighting racism and join the anti immigration cohort you'll get a Reform government and it will serve you right)
"People aren't stupid just because they disagree with you" (I'm not smart enough to counter your argument so I'll divert attention by putting you in the wrong for thinking I'm stupid)
"This is what happens when people are too frightened to speak out for fear of being called racist" (If you don't allow us to be quietly racist then we will up our game and set fire to things)
"The WC are ignored" (Until we've found a use for them we'd have crossed the street to avoid them ourselves, so we know this is a safe comment)

placemats · 17/08/2026 10:22

Will also add: Just putting this here

on a controversial thread they start.

SerendipityJane · 17/08/2026 10:22

Things have moved on apace !

BY way of tax, I'll say that I have just seen two squirrels on our parched back lawn. By which I mean only just saw two squirrels etc ... they seemed to be playing whilst at the same time demonstrating the effectiveness of grey as a camouflage. I initially thought the weeds were blowing 🐿🐿

TemperanceWest · 17/08/2026 10:23

Agree with you @5128gap Some of them really hate those of us on the left and blame us for everything.

BIossomtoes · 17/08/2026 10:25

There’s also “These people have genuine concerns, you need to take them seriously”.

placemats · 17/08/2026 10:31

The tautological phrase "genuine concerns" gives me the ick. And it's always tautological phrases that are used. Such as: genuine disabled.

This is absolutely true. Their real attitudes soon show up on the threads about benefits, though. Or social housing. Those are issues that will affect many of Reform's core WC supporters.

I think its because the more suggestible have been trained to see us as a bunch of emotionally driven ivory tower dwellers, thinking we're morally superior, and want to be kind to everyone else at their expense.
I always try to argue from the pragmatic utilitarian perspective, where the left wing approach is actually more cost effective in the long run etc, because the humanity side just winds them up more.

Yes, maybe some of that £5mil could have been used to purchase a a firest full of a few distracting 🐿️

Probably would have been more subtle 😉

I focus on facts. They hate them, especially when they’re linked to a credible source. The refusal to accept immigration figures is frustrating to say the least.

No use, they will just say 'we don't mean those disabled' The same way as 'not all immigrants are bad'

There’s also “These people have genuine concerns, you need to take them seriously”.

I actually think this one has some traction.

It’s why Farage does so well.

He takes people’s serious concern seriously. He makes them
fell heard.

The problem is rather than take them
seriously and make positive changes based on truth he tells them what he thinks they want to hear and fuels the fire. And marginalises other groups to make whatever group is shouting loudest at the time feel more heard and further up the pecking order.

The reason we have such problems in
social society is when people feel
Unheard and disenfranchised.

Take the small boats as an example. I think you’d be hard pushed to find anyone who doesn’t have a concern about it in some form or another.

Most people will read, listen see and hear what’s being done and the statistics and feel reassured.

The most disenfranchised don’t see and what that. Cue Farage and Tice and ilk who tap into their victim mode and reassure them with how it’s the immigrants (boat people 🤮 - such a horrid term) fault. That they are only in this situation because illegals taking job/ houses/ money (delete as necessary) although I think disabled people are equally to blame currently?! 🤔

It’s all about making people who dont have much feel like it’s someone else’s fault and hiding the governments failures to correct economies the last few decades.

Lets face it if you can blame your NDN who risked their life to come here and claim asylum and works and pays taxes for the fact you skivved off school mostly, for poor exam results as a result and never pushed yourself career wise - why wouldn’t you?

It much more uncomfortable to hold ourselves to account for our failing than anyone else.

And when someone in parliament is telling you your NDN only has those things because they get given everything by the current government and you could have more of they are deported - well ……. ⚡️it’s the perfect storm.

Sorry for the rant. I’m getting increasingly frustrated at the rhetoric lately and the inability of my fellow race to apply any sense of common sense or justice or humanity to their words.

People do have concerns about problems in society it's the added 'genuine' to it that's the problem because it's divisive. You have concerns and ours are genuine.

BIossomtoes · 17/08/2026 11:03

Don’t apologise @itsgettingweird. That’s one of the best summaries I’ve read.

DuncinToffee · 17/08/2026 11:19

This is one of those 'legitimate concerned'

https://searchlightmagazine.com/2026/08/veteran-nazi-thug-phil-curson-jailed-over-epping-riot/

Phil Curson, a long-standing figure on the British far right, has been jailed for 27 months after being convicted of violent disorder during anti-migrant protests in Epping last year

Thought this was interesting - and certainly shines a spotlight on Reform/Reform voters:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/aug/17/public-in-england-and-wales-wrongly-think-most-killers-are-minority-ethnic

... and (once again) we are back to wilful ignorance.

"I don't care what the facts say, as my feelz are much more important".

No country does evidence based policy. The UK doubly so.
