Heatwave Support Thread Part Three.

Zov · Yesterday 20:49

Can't believe we even need a third thread. The summer heat really has been relentless hasn't it? Since mid May virtually, we have had unprecedented heat, 4-5 degrees Celsius hotter than predicted most of the time, high humidity, half the country in drought, constant record breaking temperatures, and 30 degrees Celsius or higher, on more days this summer than ANY other summer.

And there doesn't seem to be any end to it, anytime soon!

Some people are just about coping, and some people are really struggling, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Here's a thread where everyone can get together and have support each other.

By the way, as the poster who submitted the previous thread said... This is ONLY for those who hate this heat, and heatwaves, and struggle to sleep because it’s unbearable, struggle to be outside in it, and struggle with it inside their home too. And for those who feel ill from the heat.

People can come here for a moan .. hot weather lovers can start your own thread!

Hi @Zov found you! The link you put on the previous thread took me to a page not found just to let you know

Zov · Yesterday 21:16

@JewelleryCat Oh I'm so glad you found me. I have no idea what happened. I copied the link exactly. Also, it wasn't showing on here until 21.10, even though I posted it at 20.52. That link from the previous page still doesn't work though.

Unfortunately I think the rain might have stopped, can’t hear it anymore and my fan is doing 27/28c so yet another night with yes I need the fan on or no, it’s too cold so switch it off. I was like that last night too

I hope the link gets sorted and others find you 🙂

I have reported my @JewelleryCat to ask them to correct the link. (I have no idea what happened as I think I copied it exactly.)

Even so, I think people will notice this thread sooner or later. Smile If nothing else, they will see a third thread has been created so hopefully will have a quick look for it.

No rain here either. North Mids/North Staffs border. It has been promised, but nope, nothing.

It is awful. I just want some rain ☔️

Thesquaregiraffe · Yesterday 21:42

@ZovI’ve found you! Thank you for starting another thread! This group has honestly kept me sane these past few days/weeks. Although I think even some of the most hardened summer lovers are beginning to be worn down by this incessant weather now.

MotherofPearl · Yesterday 21:43

Thanks for the new thread. It helps me to know there are others who hate the heat as lots of people IRL seem to love it and I end up feeling like a weirdo.

RhosynCymru · Yesterday 21:44

@Thesquaregiraffe to be honest my sympathy for those die hard summer lovers is nonexistent. They should be more careful what they wish for.

JacknDiane · Yesterday 21:44

You poor buggers. I hate the heat. Luckily I live in Glasgow. I went a walk at tea time and the cool wind was blowing a gale round me. And its been raining off and on.
The heat down sound horrifies me. It lasted here a wee while, thankfully not long.

My sympathies to you all.

I do hear you!! One person I work with was saying “but we have a different heat here”, after booking a hot holiday, and yes, that’s kind of true (different when you have to function normally in it). Then went on to say “we’re having air con installed” - Lovely for those who can ‘just’ afford to do that. Enough said.

Thanks to a small inheritance I’m hopeful we can get air conditioning in two of our bedrooms and in the living room for next year. Not the most exciting thing to spend a windfall on but it’s literally a matter of survival. And I will be taking all of next July off and going to stay somewhere cooler as I want one year when I don’t have a mental and physical breakdown in July.

iloveanearlynight · Yesterday 21:52

It's so, so depressing and I'm extremely irritable because of it. 😔

DeerOhDear · Yesterday 21:53

So temps next week three days of over 30 and thuesdsy back up to 36. It's mind boggling !
Aside from the heat im so worried about fire

MightyGoldBear · Yesterday 21:53

Ah I've found my people!
I hate this heat with a passion. I have no tolerance for it I feel unwell and exhausted. Its been months now, I need it to rain.
I can't function normally I miss being productive rather than hiding inside barely able to move.

DeerOhDear · Yesterday 21:54

Anyway I've booked two nights by the sea mid august so expect biblical rain then !

Ilovegoldies · Yesterday 21:55

Former die hard summer lover here. This is shit.

DeerOhDear · Yesterday 21:55

@MightyGoldBear this has been one of worse aspects for me ,not getting stuff done !
