Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

I thought exactly this in the cinema earlier an commented to dh, who had no clue whatsoever what I was talking about. So I’m assuming men don’t follow celeb news and don’t know/care so keep buying into his films.

Personally don't find AJ that admirable despite beauty or humanitarian work.

Most people think he's a good actor/enjoy a lot of his films. People used to go on about Angelina and her ex and their blood vials.
A lot of people took Jennifer's side around the time of Mr and Mrs Smith and don't like the idea of either of them as people, but still like their films.

For the same reason so very many abhorrent men aren’t cancelled:

racist Mark Wahlberg
domestic abuser Chris Brown

I cannot fathom how Jared Leto is still not cancelled. Not only for his behaviour but he keeps getting big roles despite numerous flops.

Yes, there were allegations made by AJ.
Allegations aren’t proof. They clearly had a lot of conflict. The fact that the children are removing his name also doesn’t prove anything. It’s also pretty common for ex partners to alienate children against one parent. I’m not saying that happened, but we just don’t know

It’s hearsay. I read something about a big argument on a private jet between the family but whether or not there has been any witnesses or legal follow up I don’t know. AJ is a brilliant actress but seems to lack the likability factor of Jenifer Anniston and I think a lot of people dislike her for that. It’s a bit like the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard thing - they were both clearly abusive to one another but she came off worse because people love him for his acting career.

Because AJ has always been a bit of a loon & has public rows with her family nonstop whereas Brad is a bloody good actor who’s given away zillions on the quiet to rebuild New Orleans.

The poor children - none of the domestic abuse was ever proven, and the police didn’t press charges after they investigated.

Hearsay? This wasn’t reported by Angelina Jolie, it was reported to the FBI by the fight staff. He was not charged because AJ felt it would be too stressful for the children.

This was reported to the FBI not by AJ, but my the plane staff. AJ did not want him charged because of the stress it may cause the children. How can you like him?

I've also wondered this. He must have done something seriously unforgivable for his daughter to erase his name.

They didn’t press charges because AJ didn’t want them to. They did have enough, and the report was given not by AJ but by the staff on the plane.

I dont doubt the incident on the plane happened. He never tried to deny it. What I always find strange is why George Clooney (who I think is great) stuck with him.

Like many abusers, he probably has a charming personality with other people.
