They do Im going to get a taxi like i did this week
a. i wont be very relaxed after sweating it out on a non air conditioned bus or walking 45 mins in the heat
b. bus is unreliable and if you miss an appointment its a 50% charge of the fee.
Im impressed with them so far though. Hardly any pain after the extraction Just a couple of twinges and it was a large tooth. Im looking at an implant but that wont be till later on because of the cost. Unfortunately the now missing tooth is near the front of my mouth at the bottom

It's going to be around 30 degrees from Tuesday to Saturday where I am according to the online outlook. Wanted to weep when I saw it. i am fine with up to the mid 20s if it is not humid, but this relentless suffocating heat feels dangerous. My kitchen sink gets hot as sun pours into my kitchen windows from sunrise though to around 3pm, I dread to think what it is doing to wildlife and worry about how they can find shelter and shade when so much greenery is dried to a brittle crisp.

I am cooking a curry today because I am tired of eating salad and wraps. Rushed to get my hair cut when the temperature went down on Tuesday.
Next week I am going to cope by workibg from the British Library!

I've booked an IT suite for my team. No teaching and it's air conditioned.

My eating habits have gone off lately! Can’t face most things. The weather has a lot to answer for!

I am currently melting in a Premier Inn that has no air con and a less than effective fan. The window is open as far as is safely allowed but there’s not much point as there is no breeze whatsoever.

My glasses keep slipping down my nose and I’m trying to drown my sorrows with warm wine in a mug.

Ohh the glamour of visiting elderly parents.

Cant even take a shit in this fucking hole without the sweat pouring off me so back In the bath and under the water again.

I actually literally cannot believe this...we are about to enter our, what, 4th heatwave (I've lost count at this point!)? I have communal black bins that are completely full and overflowing, that have not been emptied for 5 weeks...it was 28 degrees today (temporary respite over the weekend, thankfully) and you can literally smell them from quite a distance away before the actual flats/stores now because they're in such a disgusting state. Our council is meant to do every other week but they have missed 3 collections now and I dread to think of the worse state and smell that they will be in next week with it being 30+ every day, and with additional rubbish put by the sides of them do them being full...it makes me feel ill just thinking about it.

I'm literally about ready to go nuclear on this. They'll happily take our council tax and moan if it's late but can't give us a proper rubbish disposal service. I feel like I live in Birmingham city center or something at the moment!

I would really, really like some rain some time soon...as I'm sure we all would! I keep reading about these fires in France, Spain etc and although it doesn't get quite as hot here in England generally speaking....it does makes me worry nonetheless because I live in an area with a lot of surrounding farmers fields/parks/forests etc and they are virtually completely bone dry at the moment and it wouldn't take an awful lot, or even just one careless mistake to set off fires right now.

I haven’t felt well or comfortable since the end of May. I’m exhausted and my mental and physical health are declining now. And looking extremely likely that even my “respite “ holiday to Wales is likely to be ruined by it again just like in 2022!

I thought it was going to rain , but nothing today :(

I've hated this summer with a passion.

Admittedly I am an autumn person but have always managed to enjoy past summers (although last year wasn't fun) but not this year. I do suffer from anxiety and depression and at 53 I'm deep in perimenopause but my mental and physical health has really declined over the last few months, every time they declare another roasting hot day is on the horizon I just want to weep, they've just said on the radio it could be up to 35 this week 😭. I also hate seeing my elderly mum, who is in advanced dementia suffer so much in this heat and knowing there is little to do to help her.

I also struggle with all this brightness, I'm wearing dark sunglasses all the time atm, I'm much calmer and more composed come the evening. I'm September/October/November cosy, twinkly fairy lights, heated blanket kind of person.

High summer gives me the hump -

I am craving the summers where it was three days of warm weather and a thunderstorm. 1976 aside , English summers were great! At least it was a mix.

I used to be quite happy with wet weather during school summer holidays . It was normal, this Groundhog Day of heat is not and doesn’t feel right. This is making me so ill now I reluctantly saw a nurse practitioner but she suggested antidepressants! The very same things were being told that exacerbate heat intolerance not to mention weight gain which will hardly help my heat intolerance or mental state! When I pointed this out she said “where does it say that?!” Worries me these professionals aren’t up to date on something so fundamental and currently topical.

I've decided I'm moving because of this heat and having to have windows open 24/7 all bloody summer. I'm sick of having to listen to other people's dogs, arguements, cars, TV, lawn mowers, strimmers, hot tub chat, kids screaming, builders drilling, DIY, fireworks...... I'm moving from town to country. Budget 650-700k. Sounds a lot, but not here. I have to be detached.....

I hear you (and I wish I couldn't hear all those sounds you have described), If i sit in my front room which I tend to as it is slightly cooler then I hear next door's kids shrieking and yelling for hours on end, sit in the back and I hear the kids on the other side shrieking and yelling. All of them are lovely kids and of course they are hot and get crosser as the day and the heat wear on. We are in tiny terraced houses so very little play space. Then there are the cars that go by with bass heavy music booming out, drilling, and yes, we had two nights of fireworks Thursday and Friday! If you were in my city that budget would get you somewhere fabulous, fully detached with a big garden and a long drive

I go around putting thick bath towels on the windows in our kitchen which stops the sun pouring in, it does help. I’ve also invested in a mesh screen by the kitchen back door to prevent bugs coming in so I can leave the door open.

@PinkHollyhocks You are so lucky that your partner is willing to move and you’re not tied to an area. I wish you well in your search for a new home in the country, you’ll have to report back next summer!

Right now, a neighbour is talking just a few yards away, another is using power tools, another one is out so luckily there’s no music yet, and the usual dogs are probably too hot to bark.

Teeny tiny bit of rain here! Won’t last long but thank goodness for even this.

Lovely cooler day here.....but I've just woken up and had to unfortunately shut most of the windows as it smells like they're spreading muck/manure on the nearby fields....which I know they're allowed and need to do for the nutrients, but honestly the smell is just awful on this occasion....it smells very particularly like manure but with a really concentrated urine....like loads of people have just been peeing in the streets or something 🤢🤢🤢.

Twice it has teased rain here, the sky grew dark, a wind flung the tree branches around and clouds gathered then... nothing. A few minutes passed and the bastard sun came out as relentless as ever.

It just rained for about 2 minutes. Sun out now. Hot again 😭
