Who do you think it offends?

People who don't like breathing polluted air maybe?

Who do you think it offends?

Those concerned about climate change, air pollution, noise pollution, those with asthma etc..... ironically posted on a heatwave thread.... Heatwaves due to climate change..

On the subject on idling vehicles, it gives me an extra sense of rage when people leave their motorbikes idling for AGES, supposedly "warming up" and/or they then sit on it for what seems like forever and keep revving the engine.... honestly it just makes me see red!! 😡

They should be put in stocks and paraded round the streets and have rotten food chucked at them.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 23/07/2026 11:42

New heatwave my area from Tuesday onwards for the foreseeable. I’m so fucking depressed.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 23/07/2026 11:43

I tell a lie. Supposed to be 29 degrees tomorrow with a brief respite then 29s and 30s from Tuesday ——-

ConstantlyFuriosa · 23/07/2026 11:45

The fields are already scorched. I dread to think of the devastation to wildlife that this ‘glorious’ weather has wrought.

Indeed. Wildlife, but also huge loss of crops in the UK and across Europe. France reporting worst maize harvest in 50 years. All of this will translate into (even) higher food prices. It’s frightening.

Lifeomars · 23/07/2026 16:41

We've been promised rain on Friday and Saturday but the forecaster said it would be so slight that it would be hardly noticeable and would evaporate as soon as it hits the ground It feels as if there will never be any respite

Abracadabra12345 · 23/07/2026 17:14

@Lifeomars Yes, that’s the thing: there’s no end apparently in sight

@ConstantlyFuriosa i have a gas safety check on 10th August. I wont be lifting a fucking finger to move NOWT If the contractors want things moving THEY can shift them They are paid to sweat their guts out Im not!!!!
They still insist on looking at the boiler despite the fact drum roll.................we are CAPPED!!!!!!!!!!! Our choice because they cant be sensible They have insisted on switching our heating on in heatwaves before and we had enough. One time it was on for over an hour when it was 29c

Last year (August) yep during another heatwave they needed access to my flat because there was a leak in the flat underneath. Had to move EVERYTHING out of the bathroom while sweating my guts out and then the cunts didnt turn up.
So round two when they wanted a second go had to go through it all again sweating again and then the alkie underneath refused to answer his door. I swear they get off on making life uncomfortable!!

MadisonAvenue · 23/07/2026 19:14

This is never ending. So fed up of it.

the80sweregreat · 23/07/2026 19:17

I feel for everyone who is feeling down about this awful weather. It’s a bit cooler now, but the lack of rain is so worrying and it’s so dusty and horrible.

I hope they have Aircon otherwise I would take a frozen ice pack
Good luck

Happyhettie · 24/07/2026 09:45

Sending solidarity to you all still in the heatwave. It is really horrendous.

We’ve gone down to 25 degrees now. Ridiculous that that is considered a relief.

RhosynCymru · 24/07/2026 13:41

It finally happened yesterday. I had my usual mental breakdown in July although to be fair it was precipitated by other issues at work, but I think I would have dealt better if it wasn’t for the relentless two months of poor sleep, headaches and overheating as I’m exhausted. I am realistically having to look at how my work is structured and aim to be solely freelance by next July as even the medical profession thinks I should avoid being around in July each year. It’s looking moving forward that i will need to be able to escape somewhere colder as soon as it hits next year.

I agree and I can’t help feel bitterly resentful as I don’t remember volunteering to live in a hot country. I’m exhausted mentally and physically and will really take someone’s head off next time they say this is “glorious “

ConstantlyFuriosa · 24/07/2026 17:49

29 here today with at least a week of 30s to look forward to. I’m so tired. I know we all are. Won’t somebody think of the wildlife and send some rain?

We’ve just been saying the say as we ate dinner (yet another fucking salad). Neither of us can remember a Summer like this, never ending heat and no rain and feeling utterly drained by it. We were both around in 76 although young (I just remember grass fires everywhere).
