Late to this thread but I absolutely hate high summer and heatwaves. Anything over 25 I’m housebound as I have a medical issue that causes below normal blood pressure which gets worse in the heat. In normal weather, activity, walking and getting out improves my health dramatically so it stops that too causing a further flare of problems. Also got cabin fever now and sick of sitting in a hot house!

Lifeomars · 15/07/2026 12:39

i had the local news on last night and felt a rage descend when the presenters started talking about "yet another lovely sunny day" which was swiftly followed by the weather forecaster grinning as they announced " beautiful unbroken sunshine and no prospect of rain" FFS!!! this is not good news in the short term and even worse for all that is it telling us about climate change.

Hoteljune226 · 15/07/2026 14:10

I had to take the bins out on my lunch break. Even being out in that for a few minutes has made me feel nauseous.

It’s quite breezy here today and I even went out for an half hour walk. Which is unheard of for me.
It was shady for most that walk though.
I don’t sit out in it at all.

We did have some clouds this morning but that quickly changed and now the sun is beating down once again!

I typically email this basic message to biased reporters!

“When reporting the weather would it be possible to stick to the facts and not give a biased opinion. Many of us get ill in the heat and don’t find it at all “good news” or want to “bring it on” when it heats up and it can make some people dangerously ill. There’s also reverse summer SAD to consider as well. Is it possible please at least for this to be acknowledged for the many suffering from such conditions?”

This gives me so much rage. Gaslighting bastards.

Well done @RhosynCymru !

Oh I’m so done with this heat now. So, so tired. Another night either listening to a fan or boiling to death

Absolutely the same. I'm on the shortest of fuses, have snapped at several people and don't trust myself to even speak. I'm so over-stimulated with the sound of fans. I'm utterly exhausted. I've got a very poorly dog who needs to be kept cool too, so I'm out of my mind with that. I feel l8ke I'm living in Spain and I've never wanted to live in Spain.

I’m still feeling nauseous with a headache daily at the moment in this heat

PinkHollyhocks · 16/07/2026 06:59

Forecast has 9 oC for Sunday night here in Sussex. That's crazy....but bring it on...

Sadly nowhere near that in the part of Sussex I’ll be

I have found that I am getting a migraine aura (but no headache thankfully) almost every day while it is this hot. Googled it and read that the very bright sunlight can be a trigger. I get the rainbow hued zig zag flashing lights in the corner of my right eye which lasts for about 20 mins and leaves me feeling disorientated and tired. And that's on top of feeling like a wrung out rag in the heat before my personal light show starts!

Yes I’m getting weird blobs of light too flashing before my eyes on occasion too atm. I forgot about that. I’m also very forgetful like leaving a pan to boil dry the other day, amongst other things, because the heat is extra distracting. I’m now setting alarms for absolutely everything so I don’t burn the house down

Thesquaregiraffe · 16/07/2026 20:48

How much longer…. This is just arrghhhh…. Yes it is coooler at the weekend. I say ‘cooler’ but I would have still said that 25 was hot in other times. I’m going to London next Thursday - kind of dreading the tube to be honest. I really feel for anyone having to use it every day! And absolutely no rain in sight 😩. I genuinely think I will be dancing in the street when it does finally rain!

Heatwave support thread part two :
MotherofPearl · 16/07/2026 21:51

Me too @Thesquaregiraffe- cannot wait for some real downpours. I agree - weather forecast keeps saying the heatwave will end tomorrow, but it’s still remorseless sunshine and 25c for at least the next week.

The smoke from the moorland fires has finally eased, and the silver birch seed situation has calmed down, so I can finally open my windows properly for some air.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 17/07/2026 19:37

I feel like I signed up somewhere and have emigrated to a country in the med by mistake. This is not what I expect living in the UK. Please somebody make it stop.

The sun is currently shining fiercely on all of my west-facing windows and it’s VILE

I got some heat resistant blinds from Amazon. Before that my westfacing living room felt like living on the sun.
God, I hate it so much. The parks are all so dry and ravaged.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 17/07/2026 20:13

And then you have trolls - although I know we’re not supposed to call them that - on the hosepipe ban thread gleefully stating that their own lawns are lush and verdant because they just don’t care.

I don’t have children so really, no skin in the game re the future of t(e planet. But how can people with kids not give a shit?!

Lifeomars · 17/07/2026 20:38

There is something especially grating about the presenters on my local TV news and I have moaned about them on this thread before. Tuned in this evening after a day out and about, sweltering in the heat but thankful for a breeze in the morning. Wanted to see if there was going to be any significant cooling or mention of that wet stuff that used to fall out of the clouds. The forecast said it was going down to 23 degrees but no rain and the two idiots who present the show responded with "oh dear, it's been so glorious and now it's cooling" and the other one said " I am going to have to get my jumpers out" . Maybe my sense of humour has been burnt out of me by the heat, but it is as if the wildfires, the babies who cannot control their tempartures, the people whose meds prevent their bodies from regulating their core temperature, the people with underlying health conditions who have had their freedom curtailed because the heat is poleaxing them, count for nothing. Not to mention all the people whose places of work don't have any AC, unlike the presenters who no doubt have a lovely cool studio

And those of us who have to take the Tube. It's like Dante's Inferno!

Whyohwhy1973 · 18/07/2026 08:41

It's cold here this morning. It's actually cold. Not just a bit of a cool breeze but properly cold and it's glorious!! It'll warm back up in the next hour or so but this morning is heaven.
