A friend thinks that it’s a ripoff but it seems like a pretty good deal to me and I’m curious to know what it would cost in your area?

12 inch pizza with two toppings. Fish and chips for one(Two pieces of fish) A portion of chips, a portion of onion rings and a 2 litre bottle of Coke?

TIA

Local takeaway menu (very large business in a major city) says:
12” pizza at least £14.50
fish & chips (regular with 2 pieces of fish) £12.60
chips (regular) £3.80
onion rings £4.30
coke £3.99
total £39.19 without delivery (or a bag 😂)

yeah, that’s a lot, particularly when you can buy a really nice supermarket pizza for £5 and onion rings don’t exactly include any expensive ingredients!

Edited

Ive never had like freshly battered onion rings from any take away, ever.

They are always the cheap frozen bags (which i do also love) but it kills me paying £3/4 quid for probably 6-8 on average.

I never give up hope

MiddleAgedDread · 13/05/2026 20:13

I’ve never understood onion rings @Newnamesarehard and quite happy about that now I’ve seen the price of them!!

It'd be more like £40 round here.

Same here. Surrey.

ChocolateAddictAlways · 13/05/2026 20:15

Depending on whether the takeaways are doing offers or promotions, £30-40 in our part of West London. Fish and Chips is much more pricey near us than pizza (but even that depends on whether you want equivalent of Domino's Vs Pizza Express)

Whatever it costs I'd rather buy some lovely healthy food for £40 or close to that.

Liar.

Butterme · 13/05/2026 20:25

Chips at my chippy are about £3, for fish and chips you’re looking at about £12 just for 1 piece.

Pizzas are about £10 minimum.

I think you got a great deal.

I’m really craving fish and chips now!!

Blodyneighbour · 13/05/2026 20:27

It would be more than double round here. My Chinese cost 58 quid last night. SE

Marble10 · 13/05/2026 20:40

£24 here would just get 2 x medium cods and a large chips 😵‍💫 food prices are crazy.

more importantly though.. was it nice food?!

Yeh it’s the fish and chips that is mad expensive now
north west not fancy chippy about £14

DrCoconut · 13/05/2026 20:52

£25 to £30 depending on what deals they used. Do other areas have takeaways that do a variety of items and offer deals - family feast for £x, home alone deal for £y etc.

£26ish

£29.06 at an Italian chippy near me, but that is with 25% off, which they always seem to have, it is £37.42 without the discount.

Instead of a 12-inch pizza and chips, which is a total of £16 you can get a deal of a 10-inch pizza and a bag of chips for £13.49.

The bottle of Coke is £3.85, which I would skip and buy elsewhere.

My usual order would be a fish box for DD, which likes which has a fish, a sausage, a tub of curry sauce and a can of juice for £12.49, and a pizza meal deal for me which is pizza and chips and juice for £13.49 (both prices before the discount).

I'm in Central Scotland.

Delphiniumandlupins · 13/05/2026 21:57

I would be £28.00 in Glasgow, assuming prices in my menu at home are up-to-date (£1.15 more for a large portion of chips).

Bjorkdidit · 13/05/2026 22:08

Slightly less than I thought but I've never had good pizza from anywhere that also sells fish and chips and I've never had good fish and chips from anywhere that sells pizza so I'd probably not order from them.

Well you eat your carrots while your friends are enjoying their takeaway.

Opalfruitfan66 · 14/05/2026 13:28

Round here it would be £30 - £35

zingally · 14/05/2026 16:40

Pizzas are ridiculously expensive, compared to their supermarket equivalents.

£30 plus for all that.

desperatemum1234 · 14/05/2026 18:06

£50

Missingpop · 14/05/2026 18:08

Depending on where it’s brought from but there I’m from pizza £14 fish & chips £15 onion rings £4! Coke £3.50 £36.50 minimum
