A friend thinks that it’s a ripoff but it seems like a pretty good deal to me and I’m curious to know what it would cost in your area?

12 inch pizza with two toppings. Fish and chips for one(Two pieces of fish) A portion of chips, a portion of onion rings and a 2 litre bottle of Coke?

TIA

What's the point in commenting?

There’s always one.

I eat plenty of healthy food. I love vegetables but I had friends visiting for a movie night and we wanted stodge and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Whatever it costs I'd rather buy some lovely healthy food for £40 or close to that.

🙄 There's always one.

Would you like a virtual halo or should I put it in the post for you? I’m having a “buddha” bowl tomorrow if it makes you feel better.

😇

No need to justify yourself. Honestly the thread content couldn't have been clearer.

24 quid is a bargain.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 13/05/2026 17:56

£40

Therewerelionsonce · 13/05/2026 17:57

That's a bargain.
I live in a mixed area with some quite deprived pockets and that would cost around £34.
A takeaway for 2 at our lovely local Indian restaurant would be over £42 for 2 starters 2 mains and 2 sides.
That's why we rarely order.

Just outside of Glasgow. My Friend lives in Glasgow and thinks that it was too expensive.

You probably get chipshops/ take aways competing in bigger areas that's why it might be cheaper for her, but £24 is good especially if you bought a bottle of fizz.

MrsLFii · 13/05/2026 17:58

I’d have said around £35ish, £24 is cheap as .. chips (boom tsh)

Well if that was the intention then it's rather missed the mark everyone is thinking something vastly different I'd imagine. 😂

naemates · 13/05/2026 17:59

I guessed £29.50 and I also guessed Glasgow Grin do other places give you two fishes as standard?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 13/05/2026 18:00

£45

professionalcommentreader · 13/05/2026 18:00

TomatoSandwiches · 13/05/2026 18:00

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 13/05/2026 18:00

Thanks all. There’s quite a variation. It’s amazing how much the price varies between areas. We’re not in an especially cheap area for takeaways here but not the most expensive either but I’ve only recently moved to this town so I don’t have that much experience to judge them by.

It was £24.

That's a steal!

it would be double that here (Hampshire)

Well that isn't what the thread is about, thanks for joining in though !

sauvignonplonk1 · 13/05/2026 18:02

£40ish

ButterYellowFlowers · 13/05/2026 18:03

£40 round here. It’s £14 for a single fish and chips (at the cheap one, the expensive one is £22), £10 for the pizza, £4 chips, £8 for two onion rings… £40-45

Bbq1 · 13/05/2026 18:03

45 around here

Secretseverywhere · 13/05/2026 18:07

About £30 round here. It is expensive so I do fakeaway at home these days.

TheBloomingDahlia · 13/05/2026 18:08

That sounds pretty cheap to me! The absolute cheapest place around here would be £35 for everything (a takeaway that does fish and chips, pizza, meze and Indian 🤨) while a proper fish and chip shop is £18 just for a large cod and chips. But tbf I’m a loong way from Glasgow

That’s insanely cheap for all that. I’m not far from Glasgow and that would be at least £32 in our local chippy.
