We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

I've been out for coffee twice today so quite a social day! Turns out the fridge freezer is kaput so I need to order a new one, and it's built-in so a faff to get into the space.
Still waiting on a quote from bathroom guy number 2, I'm not sure how long to leave it before I give up. Last Sunday he said it would be "next week". It's not filling me with confidence in his actual time keeping.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/05/2026 17:35

😔 Ugh re the fridge and bathroom Katie. I've been chasing a plumber for a bit here. I'm getting close to uni-YouTube to try and DIY.

Baby is using the wand vacuum to get all the couch crumbs. 👏👏👏
I put laundry on around 7am as I was up before the kids. It's hung up and things are in good enough order to head out for the rest of the morning. Taking my mum to a med appt at the hospital later (yep, on a Sunday).

Pics of sunset at Kits beach last night. Volleyball courts were packed, some people were swimming 😳 and lots just parked on the beach watching the sunset.

@FourSeasonsLobelia - I asked ChatGPT for help! So given the fact that the beds are in full sun pretty much and the soil is very heavy clay soil and the drainage isn’t great I have Nandina Lemon and Lime (which we had in the beds already and they survived so I’ve lifted them out into pots temporarily), lavender Hidcote, two different Hebes, some Geums and Erigeron. I like cohesion and repetition although not too regimented.

Managed to get one bed almost ready this afternoon and positioned the plants just to get an idea of positioning. Need another garden centre trip as that bed pretty much swallowed all I’d bought. Need a few more lavenders, hebes, geum and Erigeron.

Peridot1 · 17/05/2026 17:36

Crosse posted. Looks lovely @Mumtobabyhavoc.

WinterFrogs · 18/05/2026 07:17

Lovely pics @Mumtobabyhavoc 😍

I am enjoying the gardening talk! Very inspiring 😊 Planning to get out into mine today, and also do a bit of batch cooking while the stuff in my fridge is still fresh.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 18/05/2026 09:49

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc for the article! I think I have decided on hydrangeas there. I did not know they could cope with shade like that. I went to have a pootle through the garden centre to look, but did not find exactly what I am after, so will try another one tomorrow. the DCs school is 12 miles away, and dropping them off at 8 then trying to get home again is a nightmare so it works for me to stop by a garden centre/cafe and wait out peak hour for a bit. I like to think this is multi-tasking.... Grin

We also have heavy clay soil @Peridot1 . i shall look out for Nadina lemon and lime! Not heard of that before!

Hope everyone has a lovely day. I have a heavy admin day ahead....

Peridot1 · 18/05/2026 10:52

It’s a nice vibrant green shrub @FourSeasonsLobelia. Great for structure and it’s evergreen so still a pop of colour in winter. A friend who is a landscape and garden designer recommended it for our previous garden and I really liked it.

Busy day here today. Have already had a furniture delivery for the living room. Of course planets couldn’t align so that the old sofas were picked up first so room is pretty cluttered currently! They will be picked up before 3 though. Then I can get in and sort the room a bit. Pretty happy with it all so far. Although the footstools are a bit big. Should have ordered the smaller ones!

Other jobs today:

  • laundry
  • change a bed
  • garden centre
  • quick supermarket shop which is usefully close to the garden centre
  • hopefully some more prep for the beds in the garden
  • tidy the mess I’ve made moving stuff from the living room
  • find a home for work stuff that DS has been storing in the living room
  • clear out the fridge

Tonight is village parish council AGM and I’m on drinks duty.

Have a good Monday all.

Peridot1 · 18/05/2026 10:53

@FourSeasonsLobelia - I love hydrangeas but sadly so do the deer……

watchPhone · 18/05/2026 15:50

Just binge watched Legends over the weekend. Wasn't sure but did rewatch the final episode. Gritty.

Today

  • bathroom stuff has started to arrive; it's quite volumetric. My back bedroom office might need to be sacrificed. Work starts 2 weeks today and I will then have cash for more frivolous things 😄
  • Need to pick a colour for the bathroom walls. We will go through 50 shades of white and no doubt not find one that is the right white.
  • I need a project to get me through the winter (looking ahead 😄) but thinking it might be a sewing one - there's lots to do! I'd like to get all the prep done early so I don't abandon it mid project for the want of interfacing!.
  • A light came yesterday which was supposed to have dark bronze fittings, but all the fittings are pitch black.... that will have to go back; but a new one arrives today.
  • Work is all a bit hectic and shouty at the moment, I may take a day off
  • the tape measure arrived so I am going to send a search party out to try and find my waist and measure it - DONE my that was depressing.
  • I am having some back and forth with a travel company about why I don't want to share a room on a trip! I might just find somewhere else (I know I will have to pay more blah blah blah). Planning a Cornwall trip too, though instead of the depths of winter we will go this summer when accommodation is triple the price (what a well thought out decision that was). Although have just costed out a surfing lesson for me and the GNephew - quite spendy for an hour.
  • I've been walking form room to room picking up plugs and pennies.
  • I moved a record player from one side of the room last September (!) and I went to listen to music yesterday. No plug. Desperately searching for the connector/plug.
Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc for the shiny new fred, SoE.
Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/05/2026 22:34

New user name @watchPhone ?
Was that intentional? Is SoE dead?

Had dc out this morning for a bit, home for brunch and it's been a quiet day since. I folded and put laundry away and a load of towels on to wash and I blitzed through some of my weights exercises. Kids are having a snack then I'll take them out again for a little while.

Good morning all.

Busy day yesterday. New furniture for living room was delivered. Old sofas picked up. Garden centre trip. Usual laundry. Changed a bed. Arranged bits in the living room. Or “dressed” the room in designer speak! Also went to garden centre and have all the rest of the plants I need.

Extra task was cleaning the frames of the French doors in the living room as they were disgusting when we opened them for the delivery. Spiders webs, spiders, leaves, dust, dead insect. You name it it was there!

Today new blinds for kitchen are being delivered and installed. So I’m cleaning the area around the windows and the window sills. And generally tidying up as the whole of downstairs is pretty untidy.

Not sure whether to continue inside or do stuff in the garden this afternoon. I think going forward as the weather is improving so much I need to do a bit of both. When it’s hot I’ll garden in the morning. DH of course will stick to his routine of going outside around midday…..🙄

Hope everyone is well and having a good day.

watchPhone · 19/05/2026 15:11

How blooming annoying - I used a "burner" username to post on one measly thread yonks ago and here I am ruining the plan 😄Didn't even think to check. I am living the high life I am in bed by 9 and up at 5 and I am yawning my head of already. I need to stay awake till the giddy heights of 10pm.

Today

  • I smashed a very expensive lightbulb the other day shifting things around looking for the stereo plug thingy - it's replacement is arriving today
  • my shouty work day has slipped into a shouty work week; one more meeting to navigate
  • it is like groundhog day here - except it's brushing up sand and tidying up a desk and no going beyond. So brushing up sand and tidying my desk it is
  • I have collected a nice amount of plugs that have no discernable purpose beyond plugging into a power supply.
  • emptied a lovingly collected bucketful of rainwater on my plant (recommended by ChatGPT and it is thriving #doubterstobelievers)
  • My decluttering seems to be divided into: that will go into the skip when it arrives; recycling (plugs, connectors), and up in the loft when that gets done post bathroom (all of Christmas)
  • I am looking at open boxes and bits of shredded cardboard everywhere - for recycling (eventually 😃)
  • a washing load needs to go on - must do that this afternoon
  • SpiritDoggo is whining to go for a walk : she has an hour yet!
have a good one, SoE.
FourSeasonsLobelia · 19/05/2026 16:19

I actually name-change every Monday Blush but keep the Lobelias for this thread. (There is another Lobelia floating around though who isn't me).

I have started cycling through my various names though because I have a silly amount of them. I used to be paranoid about being outed IRL.

I feel like it's groundhog day here too.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 19/05/2026 16:26

I also feel a bit shouty. Have had 2 unexpected bills come in for house repairs (essential) both of which were double what we had guesstimated.

Peridot1 · 19/05/2026 16:27

I think the only thread I’d be outed from is this one and I don’t tend to post on many others these days. I probably should name change more often but can’t really be bothered. I have had a few other names over the years.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/05/2026 19:46

I have't really given any thought to changing my user name. I don't give a lot of outing details, though... from what I've seen on this thread I think everyone is about the same. Someone would really have to take an interest in a specific person and AS search all their posts on all threads to try and create a profile. But, I guess it could be done. 🫪

I vacuumed last night and a couple nights ago pulled everything away from the main section of the kitchen counter and gave it a good wipe, lifted stove top and cleaned under it, put drip trays into dishwasher and wiped fan hood then gave sink a good scrub (although I do wipe sink out daily). Now going to make pancakes for brunch. 😋

Hello all! Just a quick check in. Feeling quite magnificent as i got the bed sheets changed and mopped the floor before breakfast. Decluttered a broken kettle which is going with the recycling today.

Off to meet an old friend for a walk now. I am well prepared as the weather looks as if it could do anything. Currently a dark grey sky and sunshine, and it's also windy.

Have s lovely day all ☕️ 🍰

Peridot1 · 20/05/2026 11:05

Morning all.

Pancakes for bunch @Mumtobabyhavoc?. Yum.

Weather is slightly manic here too @WinterFrogs. Sunny one minute and grey the next and windy. I should go for a walk but think I’ll get some stuff done in the garden instead.

Did a reasonable clean of the kitchen surfaces yesterday as needed to clear off the window sills as new blinds were being fitted. Might give the cupboard doors and shelves on island unit a quick dust today. And the sitting area. Neighbours popped in for a quick drink the other night and he was sneezing a lot. I suspect it’s the dust! Although he says not. His allergies definitely get exacerbated here sometimes.

Cleaner is here today so I’ve quickly tidied bathrooms and a bedroom and she will do those. Laundry on. Dishwasher emptied.

So dusting and vacuuming next. And a coffee.

Have a great day all.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 20/05/2026 12:03

Greetings all! I am not doing very well at routine tasks but am excelling at random one-offs - since Monday I've taken a bunch of printer cartridges for recycling, organised my birthday lunch, returned the sinks, and ordered a box of bathroom tiles. The house is a mess though....

House a mess here too and Thursdays is our 'cleaner comes at 6.30 am' day. Gah!

I am shoving an oven meal in for the DCs (I had a McPlant vegan burger meal at McDonalds- surprisingly good) . The oven meal takes 30 minutes to cook so I shall gird my loins and tidy up for 30 minutes and see how far I get.

DCat The Younger is sitting on my computer trying to persuade me that it is dinner time- again.

WinterFrogs · 21/05/2026 07:50

Hello! Good jobs jobbed though @SingleThreadJoiner2 They will stay done, at least for a while 💐 A year, in the case of your birthday! Happy birthday for whenever it is 🎂 🥂

My equivalent of cleaning for the cleaner is inviting a friend round. My friend and I bailed on the walk and she came to mine instead. Even though we've been friends for years I still tidied up!

Did a bit of decluttering in the afternoon. Evidently there are layers. Things that once would have made the cut, now don't. Still pondering on whether to pass books on or get another book case.

@FourSeasonsLobelia my not so D cat nearly wiped out a page of work on my laptop the other day. There was swearing 😆 Fortunately I am religious about saving work as I go so I only lost a little bit.

Think I might have a look to see what I can declutter from the loft today, as I am on a roll. First I have some laundry to put away. It's currently crumpling away in the tumble dryer as it has been there since yesterday. I still won't iron it though as mostly bedding and I'll just fold it with great care. Then I really must get back to the garden. No mow May happening here so at least I won't be doing that.

Have a good day everyone 😊

Peridot1 · 21/05/2026 09:07

Morning all.

Quite a bit done yesterday. Dusted kitchen cupboards. Vacuumed. Cleaned extractor fan filter. And planted one of the beds along the patio.

This morning DH and I are going to Costco and dropping a rug off to Dunelm on the way. Rest of day will be towel washes and more garden.

Have a great day all.

watchPhone · 21/05/2026 16:51

Afternoon

  • gym done this morning
  • I've mooched around today desultorily picking up stuff, moving it somewhere, leaving it, then seeing it again and picking it back up, putting in a new location: socks (clean or dirty?) pajamas (ditto) paperwork (destroy or ditch?) A new pile, same old stuff 😄
  • I do need to open and check some of the bathroom deliveries to make sure they aren't damaged. One light is to go back.
  • fretting about SpiritDoggo as she is whimpering at my feet - can dogs have bad dreams? (I will google!)
  • Finance admin - final wodge of cash for bathroom to come out this month and then a break before saving for something else.
  • pondering what to have for tea - the fridge is fairly empty, am off out shortly to pilates and a pub quiz so will need fuel 😄
  • need to tell sibling about the giant spider in the kitchen
Ok, off to shop to find something for tea, have a good one, SoE
