We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Lobelia, good Aussie stock your mum. 🩷
Sounds sensible and that your mum is well cared for in hosp and by all of you. ☺️

Had been meaning to ask about your mum @FourSeasonsLobelia. Sounds like she is in good hands. And sounds like she is strong mentally which is great. (Thought of you yesterday as we planted Blue lobelias into pots.)

We had a nice chilled evening at the pub thanks @WinterFrogs. Food not amazing but nice and relaxed and came home and had a final glass of wine in the garden before an early night.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - that was a long list you got done! Hope you got some decent sleep.

Hope the discussion went well @petalpower. They are definitely more of a worry as they get older.

Today’s list here:

  • dishwasher and kitchen
  • laundry of some sort
  • garden centre run to get a couple of pots and possibly some replacement plants for others*
  • deal with roses - they need deadheading (the ones the sodding deer haven’t nibbled) and I need to remove the black spot bits and spray then feed with aspirin apparently. I have 8 roses in pots on the patio so that will keep me busy!
  • plant two geraniums into small hanging pots on side of bbq area
  • sweep patio steps - DH pressure washing that section of the patio today

The * plants replacement is because DH bought a load of plug plants earlier in the year (which I’m never keen on for various reasons) and the colours are not great. He of course would just use them but I’m a fussy bugger! The selection of supposed blue, white and purple petunias has yellow and pink coming through. Which won’t work in the corner they are meant for.

Have a lovely Saturday all.

WinterFrogs · 30/05/2026 15:32

I'm laughing at "sodding deer" @Peridot1. I like that particular swear and yet I don't use it enough. Sorry about your roses.

The gardening talk is getting a little too technical for me. I aim for tidy and I get nice surprises when anything actually grows. We have a healthy herb garden plus a few strawberries and some dog roses currently. The lawn is looking very scrawny thanks to lack of water and no mow May. The dandelions are also healthy though a bit leggy due to the conditions. The bees are happy and that's the main thing.

I am so sorry, I forgot to ask after your mum @FourSeasonsLobelia. She sounds like she is made of strong stuff!

I hope you got some sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc!

I too did a proper project today and cleared out the cupboard under the stairs. Otherwise a very lazy day!

petalpower · 30/05/2026 17:20

Your mum sounds like a strong woman @FourSeasonsLobelia . I hope everything goes smoothly for her and that you’re able to stick to your plan of visiting in a few weeks. It must be difficult to be so far away and also in a different time zone.
Thanks for the kind words @Peridot1 and @WinterFrogs . A decision was finally made (and much wine was consumed!).
Today’s achievements:

  • 4 loads of washing done and dried on the line including pillow and mattress protectors
  • bed changed
  • DD and I attended a village event that neither of particularly wanted to go to but felt we should support
  • basil plant potted on
  • toaster de-crumbed and cleaned, it had been smoking slightly (crumbs not electrical)
  • tickets for upcoming music event purchased, involved sitting online at a specified time when reasonably priced tickets were released
  • massive online supermarket delivery shoehorned into the fridge and cupboards
  • vegetable garden weeded. There were some unexpectedly vicious baby nettles in there which took me by surprise
  • had a FaceTime with my dad when my brother visited the care home, not a good day from a dementia point of view :(
  • handwashed a jumper which means I’ve achieved the holy grail of emptying the laundry basket. I’m going to enjoy the moment as it will be transitory!
Hope everyone has had a good day and enjoyed the sunshine. ☀️

Marilyn Monroe Kiss GIF

Good morning everyone! ☀️
It's a gorgeous sunny day here, a bit breezy and 16c now at almost 11:30am.

I've had two iced lattes and have got the TV news on: Marilyn Monroe would be 100 tomorrow.

Laundry, towels, is in. Wand-vacuumed the couch, under the breakfast table and a bit of the kitchen floor.

Had a fairly decent sleep last night. Had the kids out to the Richmond Night Market, so home around 10:30pm; kids had snacks and we were in bed by 11:30pm; official wake up time was 10:00am. 🤗

Morning all.

@WinterFrogs - “sodding” doesn’t even count as a swear word to me. I’m Irish! I think we swear the most of any nation!

We had a busy Saturday here. Garden stuff most of the day. Sweeping, tidying, planting. Trip to garden centre. Power washing. Then our neighbours came over for an impromptu drink in the sun while planning for the bbq we are jointly hosting and watching the football then DH bbq’d. We were both tired yesterday and then DH felt really off late afternoon and thinks he had sunstroke. So lots of fluids and an early night for him.

Decorator is back today to finish off painting and put blinds back up. I have some plants to plant into pots. Last lot! Will help DH tidy off rest of patio as I think he is going to power wash the remainder.

Usual kitchen and laundry etc to be done as well.

Have a great Monday all.

Peridot1 · 01/06/2026 09:12

@mumofoneAloneandwell - match result was gutting on Saturday. Hope you and DD enjoyed watching the parade though.

watchPhone · 01/06/2026 16:27

hello, still chaotic here - still very noisy so impossible to think at all with the added benefit of the discovery of a pipe with a nail through it, was disturbed with the new pipe work, cue water dripping through the ceiling. The crap joiner who was here a couple of years ago, boxing in pipes and fixing some loose floorboards was absolutely the culprit there. I am still regretting not giving him a terrible online review. I am sure I moaned about him on a previous thread 😄

Busy making a list though of all the cleaning we need to do at the weekend once the bathroom is done. We are back to cold rainy weather. SpiritDoggo might be regretting having all her fur chopped off 😄

Have a good one, SoE

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/06/2026 17:33
marilyn monroe hello GIF

Evening all 🥰

So today

Cleaned bathroom
Finished huge pile of washing up
Put whites on

Ive still got to do braid dd's hair (wish me luck)

@Mumtobabyhavoc excellent gif work - and I love Marylin 🥺

@Peridot1 we did thank you 🥰 - well dd wasn't bothered remotely 😄, I think she is Arsenal'd out! Hope dh is okay - it got so hot

@watchPhone i'm all about lists here as well, ive got to get organised! Hope your bathroom reno goes smoothly, no thanks to that joiner!

Dd got her sen school place! Starting September. We are over the moon, as homeschooling just isnt going too well. I'm treating the rest of the time like a long summer and have downed workbooks altogether!

Have a lovely evening all - Love Island starts tonight and despite it being awful, I am very much looking forward to it 😄🥰

FourSeasonsLobelia · 01/06/2026 17:39

Highly supportive of downing books and having a long summer filled with fun and enrichment! Sounds like a VERY good plan. Smile

Congratulations!

WinterFrogs · 01/06/2026 19:24

Hello everyone 👋
Just catching up 💕 It is a much more sensible temperature now so I got out into the garden a bit, to dead head and weed.

Great news about the school @mumofoneAloneandwell 😁

Sympathy on the chaos @watchPhone!

I have a new trick for reading as my eyes aren't great when they are tired. I listen on audible and read simultaneously ( if i just do audible i fall asleep - great cure for insomnia but means i never finish the book) Kindle's ok as i can increase font size. Now i sound like my mother! Even my parents' ancient Agatha Christie and Miss Reads are on audible now. That maked me feel very old. Must go back to optician but i only got new specs in September 😔

Very early night here as had a busy family weekend and saw everybody and now we've run out of steam! Big birthday coming up soon and feeling it! @Mumtobabyhavoc am feeling even more tired than usual reading your accomplishments with and around the kids.

I hope everyone is well and also all the pets, parents and children are too, and employees/work colleagues are behaving themselves. And vice versa.

Time for a bubbly bath!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/06/2026 19:47

@mumofoneAloneandwell so glad to hear about the school placement! 🤗

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 01/06/2026 21:57

Excellent news about the school placement @mumofoneAloneandwell! That’s fab for you both.

how frustrating @watchPhone. I do remember you moaning about him.

@WinterFrogs - I cannot do audible unless I’m outdoors walking. Otherwise I fall asleep. (which big birthday? 🧐)

So decorator came and finished off. We decided not to get him put the blinds back up. They are about 5m high. He took them down using a scaffolding platform but forget they needed to go back up before the platform went….. 🙄. Anyway I messaged the guy who put them up originally and he will come and put them back. They are remote control operated so a bit tricky and I want to make sure 5he whole mechanism works.

Kitchen/sitting/dining area is definitely coming together- finally!

jobs wise I did laundry. Cleaned kitchen sinks including waste disposal. Planted 10 plants. Argued with DH about him asking a recipe and then not following it. Drank wine. Had dinner. Now in bed.

night all.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/06/2026 23:54

Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc @Peridot1 @WinterFrogs

❤️❤️❤️

petalpower · 02/06/2026 11:23

Great news abou the school place for your daughter @mumofoneAloneandwell !
The weather has definitely turned here, much cooler and rainy. Sod’s Law dictates that the laundry basket is full again and actually overflowing. Where does it all come from?!
This week should have been the start of getting projects done as DH has returned from his course. However FIL had a collapse and ended up in hospital for a couple of days so DH needs to go and help out as his dad is very frail and elderly. We are keeping fingers crossed for a care package being put in place but are not sure whether it will be enough.
Jobs for today:

  • clean family bathroom
  • buy items for FIL for DH to take later
  • set up online poll for group activity
  • engineer visit to look at malfunctioning fridge freezer that has thrown up an error code
  • flea and worm medication for Petaldog
WinterFrogs · 02/06/2026 15:17

Let's just say I am catching up with you @Peridot1! Yesterday I felt a lot older after a full day with littlest. I am normally quite energetic but yesterday I hit the hay at 8pm . You are achieving so much at the moment! When is the big do?

@petalpower even with two of us I do a load most days. No longer the mountains of old though. Currently do some of my mum's that she doesn't trust the nursing home not to tumble dry as well. Sorry to hear about FIL's hospital stay.

I got a replacement light bulb up in the utility room/shed. That's a job that should stay done. I do really need to have a clothes sort out. Unusually, DH did a bit of sorting. Evidently I am in charge of shredding it judging by the pile on top of the shredder. He's tidied his bookcase too so me keeping quiet and just being responsible for my own stuff did the trick.

I had to do an unexpected prescription request to GP as the pharmacy only gave me half of my eight week supply. Unless the other box has gone down the back of my dressing table 🤔

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Peridot1 · 02/06/2026 15:37

@WinterFrogs the big ‘do’ is Saturday 13th. Please pray to the sun gods. We definitely do not want rain. I cannot wait until Monday 15th when it will all be over, the clean up will be done and the house and garden all done and I can relax for a bit. Even ChatGPT told me to leave the patio alone and not buy any more plants! Well once the final section is power washed and tidied……

Sorry to hear about FIL @petalpower. It’s always something isn’t it?

And the laundry is constant here too.

A bit of a bitty day here today. The decorator hadn’t put the sideboard he painted back in the right position or put the top back on properly so I attempted to do that and promptly scratched the paint. Managed to touch it up myself. Spotted a few more bits needing touching up so did those too. It does look good though. It’s now a nice olive green rather than pale grey. Won’t put anything back into or on it until I’m sure the paint is fully dry as it scratched so easily earlier.

Had a chiropractor appointment so nipped out for that. Back in time to hang laundry up and have lunch. Then de spidered my bedroom. Lots of skinny ones up on the walls and ceilings. Then replaced all the moth traps in the bedrooms and switched out my jumpers drawers for shorts and T-shirts and put moth repellant stuff in drawers etc.

Sun is out now after torrential rain earlier. Contemplating a quick garden task…..

Enjoy the rest of the day all.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 02/06/2026 15:40

Afternoon all

Today i have:
Done dd's hair - she was not pleased
Taken her out for fresh air and consolation kfc, which she is now at home munching on happily (I've got a slimfast, which i am not so happy with)
Got some groceries in - i love Yorkshire Provender chicken soup, omg its amazing

Tried to send a yodel parcel back to Very that was due over a week ago. The shop said its 10cm too big so might not be picked up, will have to keep checking 🙄

Tonight now I just need to clean the living room, and do some painting which I started and abandoned months ago 🙃

I managed to empty my washing basket so I am feeling very good about that, although as I am in a flat, the weather doesnt matter so much

@petalpower thank you and my best wishes to your fil - how stressful for you all, i hope that you are able to get a care package sorted 🥺💐

@Peridot1 your house sounds like its coming along nicely 😍 - whats this big do? Hope it goes well and is sunny for you

@WinterFrogs i love jobs that stay done - its so rarely the case isnt it! An early night sounds well deserved xx

Dd has just abandoned her chips and they are calling me... 😫😫

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/06/2026 17:38

Petal, sorry you FiL had an emergency like that. Sounds scary. 💐
Peridot, I think your weekend will be great. 🤗
Winter, kids'll do that to ya. 😂
I have a lightbulb to replace in the bathroom... thanks for the reminder.

MumofOne: so lovely to see you here again. 🩷

I did a good blitz last night: vacuumed and did some extra spots including moving one couch and vacuuming both; sponge mopped floors, cleaned bathroom and wiped tiles. Have got the towels washing now. It's just past 9:30am and it's gorgeous out and 18c. Going to get out asap. Promised to take dc to a special candy shop and a "huge" walk.

OP posts:
petalpower · 02/06/2026 23:02

Thanks for kind thoughts re FIL.
Are your moths back @Peridot1 ? Ours are but only in certain bits of the house. We used micro wasp traps last year as used by NT properties. Don’t seem to have made much difference for the cost. Back to the pheromone sticky traps from Amazon.
Very rainy/thundery day here. Brief break of bright warm sunshine so put load of towels out on the line - managed 10 mins before torrential rain and hail. Tomorrow looks better fingers crossed!

Peridot1 · 03/06/2026 08:15

@petalpower - yep. Moths are back. Never really went away really. Even over winter we were still finding some. Need to moth bomb again in bedrooms. Also need a really good deep clean - moving furniture etc and vacuuming around edges of carpet etc. I use the sticky traps constantly which I think keeps on top of it a bit. Indorex flea spray was recommended so I try that around edges of carpet when I deep clean. Haven’t time to do it at the moment though. It will have to be after the bbq. Every thing at the moment is prepping for that. I’ll be very glad when it’s done!

Got a bit overwhelmed yesterday with things swirling around in my head so dumped my rough list into ChatGPT and I have a bit of a plan. Apparently we are in better shape than I think….. not so sure really!

Anyway. Today’s tasks:

  • usual kitchen/dishwasher
  • pre cleaner tidy
  • DS is in London today so I am sorting his room, changing bed etc and cleaner can do his bathroom
  • 30 minutes weeding in side garden
  • two plants to pop into small pots
  • change towels and wash
  • trip out with DH to buy wine and beer and book glasses hire for bbq
  • clean out veg drawer in fridge and wash

Have a great day all.
