It quite likely was me that recommended A Calm Christmas @FourSeasonsLobelia - both the book and the podcast are very restful. I also love listening to Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles although I have yet to manage to keep on the right day through to January. Maybe this year!
Those sound very good strategies for Havoc @Mumtobabyhavoc - hope that they help.

Dh has gone out so it's just the dc and I, all tucked up in pyjamas and contemplating some gingerbread.
I've got the theatre programme for next year I'm going to check out what is coming to town.

Undecided what to do about the tiling, dh thinks he can live with it and he's the main user of that bathroom. So as long as he doesn't change his mind in 6 months I think we're living with it. We do have a glorious huge new cupboard for towels, bedding, supplies and Henry the Hoover. It is fabulous.

Nearly half term, next week is a 4 day week for the dc, such a bonus.

Thanks all for the kind thoughts, we are still watching and waiting, need to find out the outcome of a scan he had today. Trying to keep things as normal as possible for our D.

Hard to focus on work but a bare miminum needs to be done. We're also still slowly unpacking our kitchen stuff and found a few things we decided to give away, were snapped up on Olio so quickly despite being clearly in a used condition - Olio is amazing like that!

Yesterday I managed to book my Sainsbury’s Christmas delivery slot for 23rd which was exactly what I wanted. My goal for today is to clean out the shallow drain that runs in front of our garage. It’s at the bottom of a long slope and gets gradually filled with mud and silt then if we have heavy rain the water just runs straight into the garage. It’s nice and sunny here so an outside job seems like a good plan.

Halloween for us here - dd is saying 'spooky' and having a fabulous time when she visits our local Asda's Halloween aisle!

I am hoping to send her as a ghost for halloween this year, but if not, she'll be Supergirl for the 4th year running 😄

It's just past 6am. I'm up with a feverish Havoc who is feeling rotten. Chills and fever started last night. Staying on the Tylenol and Advil trains. Going to try to get back to sleep.

Managed two loads of laundry yesterday. Wiped floors last night.

I stayed in bed sleeping with Havoc until after 1pm. Fever was near 40c at waking, so gave Tylenol w Advil again. (That's paracetamol & ibuprofen). I made steel cut oats with cinnamon, a bit of brown sugar and some chopped apple and gave it to Havoc and all was eaten, so fever has obv come down, but I'll re-check and note it. (I log everything in a baby app still just in case I have to recount history to a doctor).

I made a pizza last night that everyone ate seconds, so I thought I'd share it:
Pesto, chopped baby kale, orange bell pepper thinly sliced, crumbled goat feta, sun-dried tomatoes in oil (somewhat drained), slivered almonds (!!!) and mixed cheeses from the cheese tray (cheddar, Swiss and Gouda).

I'm guessing the party is over on the nee thread, but I'll post a few here to finish it off. 🙂

Have kept Havoc home today. Temp is 38c, nose is stuffy, but is eating and drank a full 8oz water, so I'll monitor temp and affect before giving meds.

I've got a doctor appt across town, so should leave by 10:30am latest. Plan is more laundry today, pay home insurance 🙄and call vaccination people and book us all in.
Bought a rotisserie chicken yesterday and made broth with it after taking the meat off, so will make a basic soup later with left-over pasta, barley, tomatoes and spinach.

It's grey and 7c, so a bit chilly. Made a banana bread with choc chips and slivered almonds last night after the kids went to bed, so I'll get coffee on and have some. Have got the kids eating some and a Paddington movie on for them. I thought I could hide here in bed for a bit, but Havoc is in the bathroom loudly talking to Baby who has now joined Havoc for a chit chat in there, but stopped in to show me the tv control and the button pushed to "fix " the tv after it froze. Coffee. I. Need. Coffee.

Oh, visited an older friend in hospital and friend's roommate shared a joke:

booked all of our vaccine appts; Baby's is in an hour (!); my mum and I at 4:30pm; Havoc on Friday.

Going to make a quick lunch and rush out again.

Baby's vaccine appt done, nurse gave me the same, so it'll just be my mum getting hers at the next appt shortly.
Got home, put soup on and helped my mum have a bath.
Made bed.
Baby, my mum and I are eating left-over pizza while we wait for soup. Havoc's not interested, but is watching learning vids on YT. I had Alpha Blocks on in French and we're now on to food facts. I think I heard that the holes in Swiss cheese result from bacteria releasing CO2.

I have some left-over canned choc and cream cheese icing ... I might put a dollop onto the banana cake. 💁‍♀️ Pop over!

Havoc returned to school today. It was mostly fever for 2 1/2 days beginning with chills Saturday night.

I put up some Halloween lights on the deck yesterday. Just a 5 strand curtain light across the glass door that changes purple/orange and a purple light bulb into the fixture. It was an impulse buy at Walmart and an Amazon google showed way better deals, ie more lights same price. 🤷‍♀️ Kids love it, though, and were super excited. 🙌
