Now if only MNHQ weren't encouraging photos of nude teens, I would begin to have more faith in them.

What?

PickAChew · 13/05/2026 09:13

TemperanceWest · 13/05/2026 09:11

What?

One of their latest campaigns. Justine tried to justify it with some bullshit about your mum wasn't sending nude pics, she was nude.

Of all the things I've seen come out of MNHQ this is the strangest and most misguided by a country mile. 😲

BestIsWest · 13/05/2026 09:29

That is well, weird.

Brilliant news @itsgettingweird - well done to him. And @MsJinks as others have said, you did absolutely the right thing. I hope you're feeling OK this morning.

We started watching the ITV series Secret Service last night, which is proving to be rather prescient. A bit too uncomfortably 'fiction merging with fact'. I just wish what is happening here and now really was fiction though.

I was catching up with Race across the world, which is heart warming. An antidote to all the foreigners are bad threads.

The meeting between Starmer and Streeting lasted 17 minutes 😂

They just had a coffee and a biscuit, I think

Race Across The World is a lovely series. The competitors are very engaging too especially the two young lads.

Efacsen · 13/05/2026 09:52

Streeting left Downing St in a ministerial car which apparently means not sacked/ didn't resign

Tho' might mean it's going to be announced later after the Kings Speech

.

littledrummergirl · 13/05/2026 09:55

Dh and I can't catch up on race across the World until we get back from our own adventures, no spoilers please.

@MsJinks I have been known to get shouty at people fighting as well, if they don't stop, or others don't assist you to intervene then calling the police is the next best thing. You shouldn't put yourself at risk.

@itsgettingweird congratulations to your ds. That's an amazing achievement as a result of all his hard work and your early mornings.

But what sort of biscuit?

You did what you could. You’d have been no help if you got hurt too.

you didn’t walk on by like many did.

@MsJinks hope you are feeling a little less shaken this morning you absolutely did the right thing💐
@itsgettingweird yay excellent achievement by your Ds well done him.

But what sort of biscuit?

The 17 minutes was from arrival to departure so I was wrong about there being time for coffee, maybe just a biscuit.

Digestive or rich tea maybe?

Labour affiliated unions statement:

“It’s clear that the Prime Minister will not lead Labour into the next election, and at some stage a plan will have to be put in place for the election of a new Leader”

They have time.

Most likely. I can't see the chocolate hobnobs coming out for Wes. Have you seen the price of them, these days?

MsJinks · 13/05/2026 10:39

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments - I was a bit ‘shook’ last night - partly having to watch the violence and hope the bobbies came quickly- 7 minutes I checked my phone ha. Partly as it felt quite threatening- mainly as all walked past.

But the canal cat greeted me, the sun shines today so!

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats- fantastic news re your boy - congratulations to him and you all 🥳

For those watching race across the world - I am currently (and unusually!) dating and have been watching this at his house - and really into it now! I can’t watch BBC at home so at least I know where to come to find out what happens, if that falls flat ha!

MsJinks · 13/05/2026 10:47

I also went to a SUTR meeting last night - from where I was walking back - and it was really good. Some of what was discussed:

Unity - and working together across groups - unity marches/events.

Protest against our new Reform councillors on acceptance day, or whatever it is.

Campaigning widely as possible, but also investigating locally into our councillors and holding them accountable for everything here.

If we are in a Union then we get a vote for any new Labour leader apparently and if not we can write to our local Labour MP.

Whilst Reform got seats, and obviously votes, currently only 25-27% so not a majority and overall people are still more to the left so we can hopefully break through by the next election.

There was other stuff but these are the highlights I recall - got anti Tom March Saturday, one counter on 13/6 in my city to both stop the fash in the city but also protect the hotel they plan to March to (ffs) and then one against the Reform councillors. Busy!

I have it on impeccable authority that Sunak liked ginger nuts. No idea about Starmer though.

So many stories about newly elected Reform councillors and their racsim.

The UK has banned 7 far right extremists from entering Britain for the tommeh march.

Edited

Radio 5 reporting the Times that says Wes is preparing to resign tomorrow to force a leadership challenge.

Muttering from the palace that even the news of this distracts from Kingy doing his speech which is Bad Vibes

I would imagine that Streeting was offered a dead fly biscuit.

Piggywaspushed · 13/05/2026 11:27

Apparently he was in there for 10 minutes! Hopefully just got a bollocking and told to stay in his lane.

Oh! One thing I have in common with Sunak! Only that. Oh, and am also short.

TemperanceWest · 13/05/2026 11:29

Game on. Streeting is apparently going to resign tomorrow and go for it.

A new report suggests Wes Streeting will resign as health secretary tomorrow to challenge Keir Starmer for the Labour leadership. That is according to Aubrey Allegretti and Patrick Maguire from the Times. They report:

Wes Streeting has told allies that he is preparing to resign and trigger a leadership contest as soon as tomorrow.

The health secretary confronted Sir Keir Starmer this morning during a meeting ahead of the king’s speech that lasted just 16 minutes over the turmoil engulfing the Labour party.

Allies of Streeting who have spoken to him directly said that he has made clear that he is “going to go for it”.

They said that he is likely to resign on Thursday and mount a formal challenge for the leadership

BUT it is The Times, so...
