Very hot here today after a tropical night. All the plants watered early this morning. Looking forward the temperature dropping down to 25C tomorrow. A few whispy clouds in the sky as well. Breeze minimal.

Still loving the heat though.

cardibach · 26/05/2026 09:45

Still high twenties here, but like @dontcallmelenI'm better with heat than cold. Aiming to do all my holiday jobs and packing today as I leave mid afternoon tomorrow but I’m a champion procrastinator so that’ll be a trick! Think I’m going to cancel the gym as I don’t want to mess up my knee before hols and it’s a bit fragile currently. Steroid injection booked in for when I’m back so that’ll should help.
Unsurprised by Reform vileness, sadly.

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2026 09:46

The grass needs mowing, I thought about doing it this morning but like you I watered the plants and then I thought, nah I leave the grass for another day.

It's no mow May after all Wink

Exactly the same as us. We don’t seem to be able to get through the day without an Amazon delivery but it’s not my money. I actually suggested once that he employed an assistant to take his parcels in.

Ange Postocoglu (ex Spurs manager) once joked that he thought his wife might know the Amazon delivery driver better than her own husband.

dontcallmelen · 26/05/2026 10:34

Hope the steroid injection helps cardi I had one on my shoulder last week it’s slightly less painful so hopefully will continue to improve 🤞🏻for you.
I usually pack a couple of days before leaving & then without fail the day before departure have a wobble & get angsty & worry about not bringing enough or bringing to much repack take stuff in & out you’d think I’d never been on holiday I’m usually very organised & quite methodical packing just defeats me.

I missed this from a few days ago

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage failed to pay a debt of £9,400 and had a County Court judgment imposed against him in 2024.

He wasn’t aware of a county court document arriving? Seriously? And it’s being appealed two years later - good luck with that.

placemats · 26/05/2026 11:02

The difficulty for me regarding packing is making sure I can pack it in when returning home. A cool beer and I'm okay 👍 😀

cardibach · 26/05/2026 11:09

I have the mother of all packing lists so it’s more boring than stressful. I keep telling myself it won’t actually take all that long if I just get going! I hate the bits you can’t put in until just before you leave though - book, chargers, that sort of thing. And I have to check my passport is really there at least 14 times.

I’m with you. Packing to come home is simplicity itself, you just pack everything in the room.

placemats · 26/05/2026 11:13

Yes passport check is essential. I have a great bag to bring on board with the essentials. That's checked constantly.

Once in the air, you'll be fine is my mantra.

cardibach · 26/05/2026 11:14

That’s definitely the case @placemats
Im in an airport hotel tomorrow night though so loads of scope for disaster even after I leave home 😞

MsJinks · 26/05/2026 11:35

80+ posts whilst I went to see my new date for a walk in cool woods and he cooked- love guys cooking ha, unlike probably Makerfield’s reform candidate - but some of the food here sounds amazing and I need to try some.

The ways to get through the hottest day of the year are also fascinating- I like to put my feet in water and chill - I live not far from the Peak District so this is easily accessible to me.

@cardibach- all will be fine - just enjoy …oh and pics for here of course!

MsJinks · 26/05/2026 11:37

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2026 08:39

Reform's defence is now 'locker room banter'

Obviously- the 1980’s do need these guys back even if they don’t want them - or they could move to Trump’s Wonderland 🧐

MsJinks · 26/05/2026 11:40

placemats · 26/05/2026 09:38

So does that mean that if I call Reform voters stupid, sycophantic and ignorant bigots, I can just say that it's banter?

I think it is - I’m definitely stealing this with pride for when my efforts to be reasonable just die a natural death - very quickly!

Justanothernamele · 26/05/2026 12:07

Sooo annoyed after a nosebleed- short but just disruptive enough to need come home 30 is too hot.

dontcallmelen · 26/05/2026 12:25

@MsJinks he sounds worth dating.
oh yes the passport checks & re-checking Yy the last minute bits you can’t pack until nearly out the door, part of the problem with me is I get excited about wearing summer clothes so want to bring practically every item I have.
@Justanothernamele hope it’s stopped & you are ok my dgd gets really random heavy nosebleeds always at the most inconvenient times.

placemats · 26/05/2026 12:25

Hope the date is successful @MsJinks

I do feet in a cold basin of water, under shade of course!

Oh definitely was - turning onto a very unexpected but really nice thing at 60!

I went to Ashford in the water Sunday and just sat under a tree with my feet in the water - it was lovely - went paddling at Monsal Dale last bank holiday - live on a canal but it’s not available for paddling sadly - but I’m very lucky to be able to get to such lovely places so quickly - if not near the sea - I love water, it’s very grounding.

Haha - I think so - early days but a real step up from some date disasters in my past ha!

One of my daughters used to get massive nosebleeds and 2 of her kids do - mist inconvenient and scary for young ones - hopefully all is well with your dgd and hope you are ok @Justanothernamele

Have a great holiday @cardibach I can definitely recommend Thessaloniki if you're into history. The museum is excellent and the food market is great too.

Είναι καμίνι έξω: "It's a furnace outside" Greek. Obviously by the 18 June temperatures will be normal. In the UK.

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2026 14:02

I was thinking Greek as well, maybe related to travelling?
