We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

Trainers I can understand but surely you have tops in multiple colors and not just white. Vest tops are also pretty cheap to buy if you need to get a new one.

shoes is harder but can you wear sandals or other shoes instead.

The point is though, the request in itself is ridiculous and OP shouldn’t have to go out and buy new clothes because of such a silly request.

ConstanzeMozart · Yesterday 16:39

Is no one in the group a good enough friend to be able to tell her kindly to have a word with herself?

This is nuts.

I'd have to buy new clothes and shoes, which is mad for a four-day break.

For god's sake, that is ridiculous!!

What will she do if someone does turn up one day/evening in something white? Kick them out? Send them home? Forbid them from attending/ being in the wedding? Does she not realise that her "friends" are paying for this privilege? It's bad enough you have to buy all the bridesmaid stuff, but this is OTT and I would actually probably go out of my way to wear something white at every opportunity on the hen trip (not that I would have agreed to go on it in the first place, mind you...).

Don’t be silly it’s not like ascot, is it?

I mean for Ascot you’re aware upfront and you decide if you want to go, pay the money for the ticket and know if you’ve suitable attire.

In this situation, the OP has had bridezilla decide with no notice at all than she wants, no white and expects they silliness to continue for four days…. A dress code announced that has to last four days, because she wants it 🤣🤣🤣🤣!

I am not talking about the OP- this conversation specifically is in response to you saying you've never seen a hen do where the bride wears white and everyone else wears a different colour.

As I've said many many times, the specific situation that the OP has posted about = batshit. Generally a bride wearing white on a night out while everyone else wears another colour = very very normal.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · Yesterday 15:53

Ascot or a wedding are short events - a day or so - and usually require only one outfit, @sweetpickle2 - they do not involve dictating a dress code for several days.

My comment was in response to hen dos in general where the bride wears white on eg a night out and everyone else does not- a PP was saying they've never ever heard of this.

Of course the OP's specific situation is batshit, as I've said many times.

Weeelokthen · Yesterday 16:53

Dunno if I could be friends with someone so twatty 😂

Thistooshallpass. · Yesterday 16:56

Some people’s sense of self importance is off the scale - how do these people think that everyone cares that much about their hen do and their need to be centre of attention . I’d take no notice at all - white is a staple for sunshine breaks and I would be wearing whatever I like when I’ve paid for the privilege of being there .

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · Yesterday 16:57

I would ignore it during the day. If anyone says anything, just say, oh these are the tops that go with my skirts. I wasn’t going to go out and by a whole new summer wardrobe. That would be mental, wouldn’t it?!

SarBe · Yesterday 16:58

Pack what you have and tell her tough

Lifeomars · Yesterday 16:58

Crazy, so you are expected to cough up money for 4 days abroad and then follow a completely insane dress code? I wouldn't want to go, it sounds like its going to hellish if the bride to be wants to have that level of control for a hen do. Whatever happened to a meal out and a few drinks?

Monty36 · Yesterday 17:01

Seems very babyish. Immature.

RampantIvy · Yesterday 17:07

i know we will all be thinking the same

In that case I think you should all ignore her request. She is being ridiculous.

Firstly, I’m not one of these girls or friends with a girl like this but I’m so glad that these “demands” seem to be sent via messaging because it’d be written all over my face what I thought of that demand if I was asked in person 😂 no white trainers?!
I can understand the entire white outfit but no white trainers?! Most people have white trainers that they wear in summer.
And it’s all for social media. So she’s making silly demands of the people who are actually going just to look aesthetically pleasing for… strangers on the internet?

I’ve never worn a white trainer in my life - and I is old 🤣

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · Yesterday 17:16

I'd not be following this.... I'd just say "sorry, with the cost of the holiday and the wedding on top, I can't afford new trainers and new tops"
What is she going to do... even a bridezilla wouldn't be able to look someone in the eye and sat "I don't speak to Tina any more after she wore white trainers on my super expensive hen do in Ibiza"
Whole thing sounds like it'll be a nightmare, I'd focus on being drunk most of the time and being asleep or by the pool the rest of it.

Remagirl19 · Yesterday 17:17

Jesus hell Christ who are these people. People wearing white on the wedding day maybe but this is a whole new level of mentalness. I couldn’t actually spend time with anyone making this shit up 😆

AnOldCynic · Yesterday 17:17

Tell her you are not interested in being filmed for TikTok or photographed for Instagram so you can wear what the fuck you like.

Cakeandcardio · Yesterday 17:18

I think for a night out then fair enough if the bride wants to do white. For vest tops and cover ups - no. That's too far! Wild how some people behave!

AxolotlEars · Yesterday 17:22

Isthisasillyquestion1 · 22/04/2026 11:18

This is absolutely ridiculous and one reason I loathe hen dos like this. The level of self absorption is off the scale. I would politely say that you only own white trainers and that you don't intend to buy new shoes for the occasion.

Yep. Honestly Id either pull out now (no white doesn't bode well for other craziness that could be coming) or just say nothing and take the white trainers you have. I wouldn't turn up in white to annoy someone or wear a white dress.

Apologies, @sweetpickle2 - I had missed that.

Theunamedcat · Yesterday 17:27

Your trainers are not white they are blanca colour

Cyclingmummy1 · Yesterday 17:28

This is an ask forgiveness not permission situation.

I'd be half naked, my new summer 'going out' trousers are white denim. Last year's are, err, white denim as well.

Malinia · Yesterday 17:33

It's 4/5 days including travelling, surely you have a few shorts, vests and dresses that aren't white? I don't believe the majority of your summer wardrobe is pure white. Just wear sandals for footwear. It is a slightly bonkers request but seems quite common these days and very doable.

xOlive · Yesterday 17:34

TamarindCottage · Yesterday 17:11

Really?! I live in my white converse in the summer 😂 my Mum always wore white trainers or sandals.
What do you wear in the summer?

aspirationalferret · Yesterday 17:36

Wow. I was ready to say that yabu and suck it up. Thinking it’s no white whole outfits.

but you are definitely NBU!!!

that’s bonkers you can’t wear a single thing white. Is she going to check your pants and bra too!

the baby pics thing is cringe too. Can understand someone doing that for you. But not sending the pics yourself and asking them to print 😂😂😬
