We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

This is pretty standard amongst the type of people who hold multi-day events for hen parties. It is a waste of life, but you could just…not go?

rainydaysaway · 22/04/2026 11:17

I would’nt follow that rule! Mind you, I also wouldn’t go abroad for a hen do so I might not be the best person to give advice…

Lomonald · 22/04/2026 11:18

Tell her she is being ridiculous honestly i am sure she is lovely but she has lost her mind 😂

This is absolutely ridiculous and one reason I loathe hen dos like this. The level of self absorption is off the scale. I would politely say that you only own white trainers and that you don't intend to buy new shoes for the occasion.

Same, I always decline these! Who do people think they are, making everyone go abroad, ridiculous

Sanch1 · 22/04/2026 11:19

Yes I think that is a bit OTT. I can understand no full white if she wants to stand out fair enough, but white trousers/top and an alternative colour otherwise is perfectly acceptable I think!

I was told this for a hen do last year. Ignored it and wore a bright pink skirt, white t shirt and white trainers, no one said a thing!

Can you speak to her? You must be close if going on an abroad hen.

No one MAKES anyone go anywhere! People are perfectly able to say no if they want to.

saltiespice · 22/04/2026 11:20

cos of the gram, right?

Parsleyforme · 22/04/2026 11:20

I haven’t heard this rule before. At the actual wedding then yes fair enough. But will people really mistake you for the bride if you’re wearing white trainers? Sounds like MCS from a bride who wants her whole trip to be instagramable. If this is the only request I’d do my best where possible and buy some very cheap bits for the trip but if there were lots of rules I don’t think I’d be following them

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:21

I’m a bridesmaid so it was kind of a given I was going.
Ive also paid the full amount too
It was paid in instalments so didnt seem as bad.
Tried to ask her about the trainers etc but she’s a firm no ..no white at all
Il just travel in some flats
I just thought it was so ott
i know we will all be thinking the same

Owlmoonstar · 22/04/2026 11:21

Fucking hell.

I would not adhere to this.

Id happily not wear head to toe white.

But if I wanted to wear white trainers or a white best I definitely would.

Will they be doing knickers and bras check while they are at it?

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 22/04/2026 11:21

id still wear the trainers. The rest I can understand.

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:22

@saltiespicewell I’m not on Instagram but she is and she likes to make Tik toks
So if you see a Tik Tok of a bridal party next month..il be the one hiding in a corner 😂

I'd genuinely tell her to get to fuck because you're not 10.

Unless she's paying for your trip and dropping you some spending money too, she doesn't get to tell you what to do.

Ah, school girl error. Shouldn't have asked about the trainers. And played dumb when you arrived.

'sorry Hun didn't think trainers were being policed aswell'

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 22/04/2026 11:22

You shouldn’t have asked about the trainers and just claimed ignorance

DontReplyAll · 22/04/2026 11:22

I’d give the bride to be a quick ring and say “fair enough no white dresses, but you don’t really mean I can’t wear a white vest top or trainers as part of a colourful outfit do you?”

If the answer is yes, I would politely decline because that level of ridiculousness indicates someone I don’t want to be friends with anyway.

Lomonald · 22/04/2026 11:22

Oh the bridezilla is strong in her !

Travelfairy · 22/04/2026 11:23

Are you sure you haven't misinterpreted it? No white trainers?? Ah look stop! She sounds like an absolute psycho if she said that. I would avoid the hen and wedding and her!! 🤣🤣

Isthisright220 · 22/04/2026 11:24

Well once I went on a hen and the bride’s MF sister kept saying to bring clothes for a “black and white party”. This was my bad, I didn’t realise that what she meant was ONLY white for the bride but black for everyone else (she didn’t say this - some may say she was trying to trip people up). Thankfully I had other choices but yes, people are that insane.

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:24

It’s honestly so ott
She’s forwarded us her baby pics and early years to print off and put them up at the airport bar …where we reserved a table
I’m hoping for sunshine so at least I can sun bathe

Is she the boss of you?

ThejoyofNC · 22/04/2026 11:25

Sure nobody is pathetic enough to allow another adult to dictate what they can wear on a holiday they've paid for?

DontReplyAll · 22/04/2026 11:25

Just read your follow up, goodness.

What is she going to do about the thousands of other people in the holiday location wearing white trousers/tops/trainers/dresses?

Or is it just her nearest and dearest she is seeking to control?

I really wouldnt comply with this

So yes, she's doing it for social media. I suppose that's the times we live in imagine bossing your closest friends what to wear, as if they're 10 year old Sephora girls 😂 . Are we confident this bride is mature enough to get married?

So if you see a Tik Tok of a bridal party next month
Doubtful, I waste too much time on mumsnet but TikTok is for idiots.

il be the one hiding in a corner
Good on you
