Hen weekend …guests can’t wear white except bride ….bit silly ?

We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

"Sorry, I won't have anything to wear so I can't come. You obnoxious cowbag" 😆

beAsensible1 · 22/04/2026 12:21

In these situations you just need to give a small friendly reminder that something is a bit much.

people get wrapped up in organising things trying to recreate a perfect image in their mind and then hyper fixate etc etc. I’m generally truthful with my friends or try to do a sense check. Have any of the other BMs said anything.

im not going to get at an away hen as I love trips with my friends and if you know she’s usually normal give grace and try to enjoy it. She’ll ease up once you’re on the plane

TheCurious0range · 22/04/2026 12:22

Surely you've got enough outfits for 4 days without wearing white, I don't know anyone who wears loads of white except Geri halliwell the trainers I would just wear.

@saltiespicewell I’m not on Instagram but she is and she likes to make Tik toks
So if you see a Tik Tok of a bridal party next month..il be the one hiding in a corner 😂

Wearing white!!!

Delatron · 22/04/2026 12:23

You’re a grown woman. Ignore her. I’d say ‘I’m not buying new trainers and these are white so I’ll be wearing them.’ If questioned but I’d just wear them.

Ditto with white vests - they are a holiday staple and go with everything. I wouldn’t do head to toe white but I’d keep the trainers and vests.

Driftingawaynow · 22/04/2026 12:23

She’s a monster

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 22/04/2026 12:25

Just ignore her. Tell her you have a newly-discovered skin condition which means you can only wear white when in Spain, or something equally ludicrous. I despair.

BeanQuisine · 22/04/2026 12:25

My reply would be brief enough: "I don't do hen in any colour, but thanks for the invitation, and I hope you enjoy a suitably gallinaceous weekend."

Crikeyalmighty · 22/04/2026 12:25

good grief OP, ignore her -

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 22/04/2026 12:27

WallaceinAnderland · 22/04/2026 11:24

Is she the boss of you?

Also, this.

Starzinsky · 22/04/2026 12:27

I would just post in the chat. "Sorry I don't have the wardrobe to wear no white at all" everyone else will be thanking you for saying something.

Scout2016 · 22/04/2026 12:29

Has this cone from the bride? If so are you related to her?
If not why are you friends with her?

Utter nonsense OP. Hope you have a good time inputed of all this.

I’m a bridesmaid so it was kind of a given I was going.
Ive also paid the full amount too
It was paid in instalments so didnt seem as bad.
Tried to ask her about the trainers etc but she’s a firm no ..no white at all
Il just travel in some flats
I just thought it was so ott
i know we will all be thinking the same

Just ignore it - wear what you want. If people want to try and enforce silly rules they can only expect to be ridiculed.

StolenTeapots · 22/04/2026 12:31

Refuse to be in her tiktoks. Problem solved

Doseofreality · 22/04/2026 12:31

Fuck that!

Depending on where I was in my menstrual cycle, I’d either :-

  1. Send a text saying “Seriously? You think you can tell us what to wear? Fuck off!”
  2. Go, and on the first night appear dressed in a full on bridal gown and veil.
Romanceisaplace · 22/04/2026 12:35

Wear the trainers and if she says anything, reply ‘oh give over’ with a shake of the head. That’s the kind of response this level of daftness needs.

TheSpecialTwo · 22/04/2026 12:35

“I’ve already paid a lot for your hens, I’m not buying a new wardrobe”.

crazy. I also would be wearing my white trainers and sandals at a minimum, and my white linen shirt over swimmers. Just…. No.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 22/04/2026 12:35

OP as her bridesmaid and presumably close friend, you have a DUTY to tell her to catch herself on. She's behaving like a total bitch and needs a reality check or she'll end up with a DH and no friends to moan to about him leaving skid marks on his keks.

JustGiveMeTheNoodles · 22/04/2026 12:36

In all honesty, I dont think i could bring myself to attend a hen party where its being dictated what I can wear. If I've paid out for flights etc, she can fuck off.

eggsandsourdough · 22/04/2026 12:36

We done this for my sisters hen, No white outfits. So no i dont think its weird.

Of course bags, shoes trainers were obviously absolutley fine!!

NewShoes · 22/04/2026 12:39

I don’t even understand why you can’t wear white on a hen do. I understand at a wedding as the bride in white stands out, but why on a hen do? But yeah, I wouldn’t adhere to this rule.

LemonPenguin · 22/04/2026 12:39

Honestly I just couldn’t be friends with someone like this. Where the focus isn’t really on enjoying the moment and each other’s company, but curating some kind of marketing campaign to make sure it looks to everyone else like you’re you’re having the time of your life, it leaves me cold. Has she shown indications of this kind of diva-ish behaviour before, OP?

Alwaysthesameoldstory · 22/04/2026 12:40

Why on earth are you even friends with a Prima Donna who is on a power trip and wants to dictate to people and make their lives difficult and miserable?
I think i'd be telling her to find another mug to be bridesmaid if this is how she treats people who are supposed to be her friends

Why don't you think it's weird?

A grown woman telling her guests they're banned from wearing white?

And what's wrong with wearing white anyway? No-one seems to be able to answer this.

Was she afraid that for a nano-second someone might mistake her friend for the bride, due to her white cardigan and then she's not going to be centre of the universe for a brief moment?

decorationday · 22/04/2026 12:41

Isn't part of being a true friend telling them when they've lost touch with reality and are being an insufferable twit?
