Hen weekend …guests can’t wear white except bride ….bit silly ?

We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

I just wouldn’t agree to this. Most of my holiday gear is white!

OP, is the bridezilla making any such demands of the guests at the actual wedding?

Insisting your friends & family effectively perform a part for social media clicks is very shallow and really shouldn’t be indulged.

tachetastic · 22/04/2026 12:05

That's ridiculous. A full white outfit I get but if you put on a pair of white trainers is she really going to have a melt-down and insist you take them off? If she does the rest of the party will either (a) tell her to calm down, (b) think she's a total Bride-zilla or (c) all be as insane as she is and you may find yourself torn limb from limb.

Other than Christmas I hate any celebrations that go on for more than one actual day.

usedtobeaylis · 22/04/2026 12:07

Oh who can be fucked with all that. The nights out, yes. The wedding, yes. The rest of it, fuck off.

Oh dear, that is spectacularly cringy. 🫣

I’d be rolling my eyes and judging if I was to see this in an airport bar. Sorry, but I would. It’s beyond ridiculous.

Zanatdy · 22/04/2026 12:09

fine for a night out, but no white trousers or vests, crazy.

TheSnappyHelper · 22/04/2026 12:09

YANBU! "I'm afraid I literally don't own non-white alternatives for things like trainers, but of course will go colour whenever possible :) "

Don't ask for her permission, you're a grown woman, noone else gets to decide what you put on your feet/your body! And certainly not to make you spend money when you've already shelled out for an indulgent abroad hen do. Absurd.

Instructions · 22/04/2026 12:09

That's just ridiculous.

I will accept not wearing white to a wedding but dictating what people who have spent money and used free time to come on an extended hen do can wear? No. I would laugh at someone who tried to do this and re evaluate whether I wanted to be their friend at all.

Clearingaspace · 22/04/2026 12:10

I thought you were unreasonable from the title as I was imagining one night out, but no white vests/ T-shirts or trainers etc at all over a weekend might force people to buy lots of new clothes which obviously is unreasonable.

Terfedout · 22/04/2026 12:10

Nah fuck that. Tell her you will wear what you like.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 22/04/2026 12:10

Isthisasillyquestion1 · 22/04/2026 11:18

Same, I always decline these! Who do people think they are, making everyone go abroad, ridiculous

Maybe a fun group of friends that like to celebrate each other and holiday together?

but no way can you dictate what people wear

PrincessASDaisy · 22/04/2026 12:11

FOUR, 1,2,3,4 nights?? Oh dear.

That’s a good reply

I’m a bridesmaid so it was kind of a given I was going.
Ive also paid the full amount too
It was paid in instalments so didnt seem as bad.
Tried to ask her about the trainers etc but she’s a firm no ..no white at all
Il just travel in some flats
I just thought it was so ott
i know we will all be thinking the same

Just wear your trainers 😂

What is she realistically going to do? Send you home? Take them off you?

I wouldn’t put up with anyone telling me what I can and can’t wear - unless it’s for work and maybe an actual wedding day (even then…).

Comtesse · 22/04/2026 12:11

Your friend is crazy. Wear whatever trainers you like.

OneKhakiFish · 22/04/2026 12:12

It's definitely OTT and controlling, I wouldn't be interested in going, why do people assume you want to be in their social media posts, thought it was law to ask permission to put your face on internet! saying no to henzilla wouldn't go down well I prefer keeping my privacy,

PrinceHarrysBaldPatch · 22/04/2026 12:13

I'd be completely honest and say that whilst, of course, you will wear whatever bridesmaid dresses she chooses for you, for a trip to Spain you will obviously wear some white items. Ask that she please doesn't spoil everyone else's enjoyment for the sake of a reel.

Clearingaspace · 22/04/2026 12:13

Ask her to buy you new trainers, linen trainers etc..,

nomas · 22/04/2026 12:13

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:24

It’s honestly so ott
She’s forwarded us her baby pics and early years to print off and put them up at the airport bar …where we reserved a table
I’m hoping for sunshine so at least I can sun bathe

Why do some women make their wedding their entire personality. Bizarre. How do you stand it, OP.

mondaytosunday · 22/04/2026 12:14

I went to a ‘no black’ funeral. Well 80% of my outfits are black. I wore a black vest under something. I mean Spain especially- so many hot weather outfits have at least some white!

Lindy2 · 22/04/2026 12:15

You know if someone makes an unreasonable request, regarding anything, it's ok not to agree to it.

Luckily as an adult, living in a country with free speech, you can say no.

Just wear what you want. Perhaps try to avoid a very white outfit as that's pretty easy to do but wear your white trainers and vests and just say sorry, there was nothing suitable in your wardrobe that didn't include white.

If you're not in the instragram photos take that as a bonus.

5128gap · 22/04/2026 12:15

I'd send a message back "sorry that's too strict a code for me, my tops and trainers are white and I'm not buying more! I won't wear all white or white for nights out or be mistaken for the bride" (smiley face to soften it)

WallaceinAnderland · 22/04/2026 12:17

FettchYeSandbagges · 22/04/2026 12:01

It's not the OP who's being ridiculous here, it is the bride to be.

OP is clearly ridiculous for going along with it all.

CheeseWisely · 22/04/2026 12:17

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:22

@saltiespicewell I’m not on Instagram but she is and she likes to make Tik toks
So if you see a Tik Tok of a bridal party next month..il be the one hiding in a corner 😂

So what’s the worst that can happen if you ignore her and take your white stuff? You’ll be left out of the TikToks so you don’t ruin the aesthetic? Sounds like a win win to me.

This.

Don't ask her about anything else, just wear what you've got and what you like.

Hopefully she has many other good qualities as a friend and has just lost her mind temporarily.

I really couldn’t imagine being friends with someone who even thought to do this or the colour ban. This can’t be an isolated main character vibe that’s only existing within her wedding.
