Some of these are repeats but I love love love cleaning out plugholes full of hair. I have several of those bottle cleaner type wire brushes for the job. Same with cleaner dishwasher filter. The greasier the better.
I love pairing odd socks together and have recently rediscovered the joy of darning. I found a big box of threads in a charity shop with about 60 different colours so I darn the heels of ducks in really funky colours. My 21 year old DS was well impressed.
I also love church and being part of the choir. Other members are mostly ancient with cognitive and physical ailments but I love them all. DH sings in choir too and we sing together a lot at home which is lovely.
I also, having hated the monotony of laundry for years, now enjoy the rhythm of it all, especially golfing it all into best piles and putting it away. Not so with ironing which I have not done for years.
I also love doing nothing. A weekend with nothing on the calendar is the most exciting for me.

I need to know more ! You darn ducks heels and golf your washing into piles ?
🤣🤣🤣

The weddings I've been to its been quite nice catching up with other guests properly while the photos are being taken. (Last one we nipped down to the local pub for a bit which was nice).
And I've never been to a wedding with long speeches - thankfully
Maybe I'm just lucky - or weird !

Perhaps lucky! I don't mind a funny or a touching speech but I was recently at a wedding where the bride, groom, bride's father, groom's mother and the matron of honour all made speeches. Less is more, perhaps!

Does anyone else enjoy that programme "Landward?" On Sunday mornings, I've only recently discovered it, but I don't know anyone else who likes it!

I really enjoy ironing, I find it relaxing and satisfying.
Eating out, it's such a convivial pleasure, and no clearing up!
I really enjoy the ballet and most operas.
Going to the hairdresser's. Relaxing.

I like all of those apart from ironing which I avoid for as long as posobley

gherkins

I’ve never tried ironing gherkins, but pretty sure I wouldn’t like it…

Are you the lady from my language class, OP? She is the only person known to us who professes to enjoy ironing, to the point that she could probably set up a business by taking all of our clothes in to iron!

I find cooking relaxing, even more so now that I have a dishwasher, so it doesn't matter how many pots or pans I use, because I don't have to wash them by hand in stinky gloves/getting dry skin from washing up liquid.

I also like reading, watching ballet, classical/instrumental music, knitting, sewing, the countryside (some people's worst nightmare, as it is too rural to have shops or more than 10 houses around here), and farming. Oh, and liking working with the work experience students is said to be very rare, and it has been commented that I must have the patience of a saint with some of them!

I enjoy coming home from holidays.
cooking relaxes me.
I enjoy seeing our relatives.

MrsEmmelineLucas · 21/04/2026 23:15

There are a few of us on here admitting to ironing, it would seem! 😊
It's lovely that you enjoy helping those WE students.
Dishwashers? An absolute boon, I would not be without it.

I dont know the first thing about rugby, my husband watches it sometimes if its Scotland but thats about it. Saying that I bet its a brilliant day out, heard the crowds are fabulous and tame compared to the football here 😬.

If i ever get the chance, I will definitely give you a shout so you can laugh at me when we get beat! 🤣 ❤️
