A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Why are people lauding ‘Olly’ as a hero? He is a time serving civil servant who lapped up the rewards (and s knighthood!!!!) for doing nothing. Now the light has been let in on how pointless they are, I hope more of them get sacked.

I don't believe any pp has lauded Olly Robbins as a hero.
He's been sacked and his reputation dragged through the mud by Starmer, in an attempt to save himself. I'd stick up for anyone in that situation. I don't believe OR has done anything wrong.
I understand OR isn't exactly popular with some after Brexit and Chequers.

I wish Kemi had simply asked Starmer why he sacked Olly Robinson today in PMQs.

He would have blathered on about judgement and process.

Then she could have asked which was a worse error of judgement- making an error in procedure, or selecting Peter Mandelson in the first place.

The wrong man has list his job.

They would have been good questions.

Maybe she was saving them for next week. Oh wait....there won't be a PMQs next week because Bollard is too scared.

Oh well. At least he didn't get away with cancelling the elections so at least we can vote. Thank you Nigel.

Yes agree. This is about Starmer sacking someone who did everything right to save his own skin.

Hopefully bollard will face the PC

If anyone wants an MP lampooning him well someone showed me a clip of Sorcha Eastwood an NI MP.

Yes I think I must have seen the same clip. She was fuming and didn’t hold back!

EasternStandard · Today 08:37

Thanks for the clip. She’s not ‘right wing’ either. It does show how out of touch and ridiculous those thinking sacking a very good, following the process civil servant was excusable due to ‘note taking’. That diehard Starmer loyalty writ large.

Rotten from the top right through to that view.

Woah! That was impressively furious, whilst remaining controlled.

EasternStandard · Today 08:39

If Starmer or any of his acolytes had near the same level of decency he’d go.

Probably the bollard head shake and Reeves looking perturbed next to him!

I think it was at the emergency debate iirc, so MPs making speeches without a direct response. Starmer wasn't there. He sent Darren Jones.

Yes it sounds pretty quiet unfortunately and he avoided going of course.

The good thing about SM is that it spreads everywhere anyway.

Ah yes. Starmer running scared! He's such a pathetic excuse of a man.

We are celebrating with an Indian takeaway and a bottle of Champagne 😋

SapphireCasino · Today 10:28

@TheNoWord mum has a friend who celebrates her country's national day with a traditional English roast and a traditional English pudding. She does a legendary roast! She really likes doing it that way because she's a citizen here now (50 years or so ) and she absolutely loves it

She has found a few people are a bit confused though... she said when you're inviting an English person around for a celebration of another country's national day, that is not the food they expected 😂

Listening to Cat Little, pretty interesting. OR had a point in not sharing the UKSV doc given the inability for anything to remain out of the press.

The proof of his ability to understand the risk to national security is right as now that document that of highest security is every fucking where.

Bollard is still ridiculous for getting upset about seeing a leaked form that no one should see, when he pushed through the Mandelson appointment without any vetting at all. He will throw anyone under the bus, he should go.

Vinvertebrate · Today 11:44

Sticking my head onto the thread to say that Pie clip is bloody brilliant!

Please can one of you explain "Bollard" though, thank you please?

Vinvertebrate · Today 12:13

Thank you @NoWordForFluffy - that's a keeper!

EasternStandard · Today 12:17

Welcome @Vinvertebrateto the thread, it’s a good way to laugh through it all

WaffleBomb · Today 12:28

Both Bollard and Little have now confirmed that OR followed due process as far as I can tell. She also appeared to confirm that he was fired before any investigation into what happened took place, as it still hasn't concluded.
He is in for a whopping payout if thats the case.

Happy to be corrected if I've misheard it. I was trying to work and listen at the same time. From what she didn't say, it doesn't look like any details of the actualy meeting where Starmer made the decision to appoint Mandy will be uncovered in the humble address - colour me surprised. 🙄
