A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

It’s hugely ironic given that the Labour Party has made such a big thing of workers’ rights and now the PM has sacked a respected employee without going through any process at all.

EasternStandard · Today 12:51

Bollard should be questioned but just go. He’s fucked up more than some wine at a party by the CS.

The national security system is at risk due to his stupidity.

I don't believe any pp has lauded Olly Robbins as a hero.
He's been sacked and his reputation dragged through the mud by Starmer, in an attempt to save himself. I'd stick up for anyone in that situation. I don't believe OR has done anything wrong.
I understand OR isn't exactly popular with some after Brexit and Chequers.

The civil service isn't perfect but plods on through successive ministers and parties through their careers. They don't get voted in and out. They just keep going. I wouldn't be sacking more of them personally. They're the only ones who know where everything is. They prop up crap MPs which is important if it's your MP.

My overriding impression of the two I’ve listened to is they make the politicians look incredibly low on insight and understanding. Especially Starmer.

His combination of total arrogance and lack of understanding is ridiculously bad, or dangerous as said in the last committee hearing.

It's my late father's birthday today. He was an evacuated as a child when the bombs dropped. He was in the RAF. he'd be flying the flag today proudly.

My MP ex councillor Labour is as thick as mince to be honest. She is absolutely needs steering.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · Today 13:16

The media reporting seems increasingly to be moving to say that Starmer is definitely out after the locals. The party’s had enough of him and they know that the papers to be released will keep the Mandelson fiasco running.

By ‘media reporting’ I mean the mainstream media who have well-connected and trusted correspondents who get the leaks and whispers. These days I very rarely doubt “senior sources inside Labour say…” when they rubbish Starmer. Starmer-Labour’s culture is to leak and brief off-the-record. Starmer encouraged that. On his own head be it.

Happy Birthday to your late father.
Every lamppost has a flag where I live. They look great, there's hundreds of them. They are put up every year for St. George's day, and rememberance Sunday. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Happy birthday to him, what an excellent birthday, shared with probably Shakespeare too!

I had a fry up at brunch. I did think about last night when I was working late - yes that is a strange thing to think about when you're working late.

Local greasy spoon was absolutely heaving. It isn't normally at that time. I wonder if people were thinking a fry up was in order because it's St George's Day.

I live in a flag area so they're up already.

I have to say, I did struggle through my work after that brunch. Still feel quite sleepy now.

No idea what's going on, but it's gonna be like waiting through treacle until Starmer goes and I wouldn't put it past him to stay there till 2029. I can't help thinking that if serious internal moves would be made against him, it would be done by now

At this point, I would like a sort of caretaker government and a general election.

It would be interesting to have a coalition doing the caretaking. Politically speaking, I have never known time move so slowly.

I hope so. You can see the same diehard loyal Starmer lot defend him no matter what, but the committee will continue and OR followed process, they’ll all say that.

You can see people try to career slur on here for Starmer’s sake still. Bizarre how wedded some people are to him.

Must say reading the other thread I think you have the patience of a saint😃 The problem is caused by Reform, right wing media, any thing else but not Starmer! Deluded springs to mind. Starmer would have to get up 6 months earlier to keep up with Kemi! Anyway I will just continue to read this lovely thread and keep my beak out of the others as they just wind me up.

Im kinda thinking we need another general election. That PM have us a new MP & to say she is useless & ignores plees from 1/4 of a city is an understatement.

I hear you and find some pro Starmer too much, can’t engage with it and have to get some sanity on this thread too.

EasternStandard · Today 15:47

Just saw more of it. Honestly why, how. For the bollard no less.

Unrivalled · Today 15:49

Looking at the news that signs are forecasting inflation to hit 5 percent this year, desperately hoping that’s wrong!

A GE would be marvelous, but unfortunately I think we're stuck with this bunch of idiots for another three years.

Took DurableDog and DelicateDog on a mini pub crawl this afternoon (3 pubs) as it was nice and quiet and we are still trying to gradually get them used to people, ‘things’, and different environments. They were very good and we humans enjoyed our nice cold beers in the sun.
Sadly, a very obvious lack of any obvious St George’s Day celebrations in the town, no flags etc. and even the church did not have a flag of any sort up on the flagpole, which it usually does.
Then on the way home we passed a neighbouring house with a Pally flag in the window, which is an interesting development as the man directly over the road has GB News and Reform stickers in his car rear window. I sense a political standoff.
In cheerier news, I have just been out in the garden and two of our nearest neighbours are flying the St George’s cross, so that has cheered me up, along with Kemi’s message on X.

Sounds like a lovely day. Glad D and D behaved and enjoyed themselves too.
