Anyone else staying up to watch the launch to navigate the moon? I didn’t realise until this evening it’s the first launch in 5 decades!

Yes! I am!

BurntSausage · 01/04/2026 23:06

I’m trying to, but my eyelids are starting to droop.

Auroraloves · 01/04/2026 23:09

yes!

DramaAlpaca · 01/04/2026 23:10

I'm watching, but I'd normally be up at this time anyway. Hope they all stay safe.

SummerInSun · 01/04/2026 23:13

DH is. I’ll pop down in ten minutes to watch it. Really really hope they don’t blow up…

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 01/04/2026 23:13

What time is it due to go our time please

JumpinJehoshaphat · 01/04/2026 23:14

Me! I love anything space related. I’m lying in bed watching the live feed.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/04/2026 23:15

Yes!

2hr launch window starts in just under 10mins @IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken

hollowwallow · 01/04/2026 23:15

What channel is it on?

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/04/2026 23:16

I’m watching on NASA’s YouTube channel

Fortheloveofpenguins · 01/04/2026 23:16

We’re watching on the NASA YouTube channel

icebearforpresident · 01/04/2026 23:17

It’s being streamed on YouTube but will probably be shown on BBC news as well @hollowwallow

I’m a total space nerd, been so excited for the launch, fingers crossed this issue they’re talking about just now isn’t going to cause a scrub…

imbolic · 01/04/2026 23:18

Yep.
I stayed up to watch the first moon landing, hope this flight goes safely.

youalright · 01/04/2026 23:18

Yes

youalright · 01/04/2026 23:19

I'm watching it on tiktok

imbolic · 01/04/2026 23:19

It is on the BBC news channel, 231.

musicalfrog · 01/04/2026 23:20

How exciting. Although unless they launch in the first 5 minutes I'm going to bed 😆🥱

musicalfrog · 01/04/2026 23:22

I'm finding all the hammy American backslapping speeches a bit cringe tbh. I know it's a big deal but it's not a film!

Rinoachicken · 01/04/2026 23:23

I’m watching on Sky - hearing the go/no go for launch was strangely exciting - I’ve only ever heard it in the Apollo 13 movie!

AInightingale · 01/04/2026 23:23

It's terrifying, though at least they aren't attempting a landing. Apparently there were detailed plans and speeches and 'funeral services' pre-arranged for the Apollo astronauts in the event of them getting stranded up there. 😱

McChubble · 01/04/2026 23:23

I’m watching - I’m really excited!

User543211 · 01/04/2026 23:24

I am watching. I saw a thread on here yesterday about the mission being a huge waste of money. Do you think there are long term plans to use the moon (as well as planets) as a dumping ground for our rubbish? Or as a source or fuel, or somewhere to put millions of solar panels that someone generate energy for earth?! That's where my mind goes. I have a horrible feeling humanity will destroy the moon eventually, as we have our own planet.
But it's very exciting!

TyneTeas · 01/04/2026 23:24

Go /no go speech just done

Sounds like launch window is to commence countdown in next two hours???

youalright · 01/04/2026 23:25

What are they actually doing going to the moon?

Kepler22B · 01/04/2026 23:25

I am. I hope it is good and not too long (it is a 2 hour launch window).

The timer is stuck on T-10.
