Would you rather be in a room full of people all talking about how brilliant you are, or in an empty room by yourself?

I would choose the empty room every time.

Apparently it's a 'test' to see how introverted or extroverted someone is.

The reason I'm posting is because I am struggling to believe anyone would choose the room full of people. Am I wrong and blinkered?

Im struggling to believe anyone would choose the latter 🧐

Marieme · 21/03/2026 20:21

How interesting, I would choose the empty room, but DH would definitely choose the full room. We are classic introvert and extrovert.

QuirkyHorse · 21/03/2026 20:21

Empty room for me 😃

sanityisamyth · 21/03/2026 20:21

Definitely the empty room. I’m not good at taking compliments due to very low self esteem.

DeltaVariant · 21/03/2026 20:22

Empty room sounds great thanks.

Carciofilover · 21/03/2026 20:22

Empty room. My DH the opposite.

Hatty65 · 21/03/2026 20:23

Empty room. I like my own company and I know how brilliant I am. Other peoples' opinions are irrelevant 😉

AllJoyAndNoFun · 21/03/2026 20:24

Room full of people but I am something of an introvert. However possibly also a narcissist 🤣. I actually don’t think that’s a great test of extroversion/introversion which is more about where you get your energy from. Some introverts are very sociable but just need a fair bit of alone time to counterbalance it.

blackheartsgirl · 21/03/2026 20:24

Empty room

nah in a room with people talking how brilliant I am, bit cringy that.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 21/03/2026 20:24

Could I please have 5 minutes in the first room before retreating to the second?

G5000 · 21/03/2026 20:24

full room, I love to be the centre of attention.

Oricolt · 21/03/2026 20:25

See, the empty room I can understand.

But the room full of people all talking about me? And complimenting me? My buttocks clench at the idea! Cannot think of anything worse.

If you would choose the room full of people, can you explain a bit about the appeal of that? I'm fascinated. I think I'm generally reasonably good at being able to see viewpoints that don't match my own but this is an absolute brick wall for me.

Full room. Interestingly I don't come out as either introvert or extrovert in tests. I'm smack in the middle. Ambivert I think it's called.

Yes, me too! Maybe just 2 minutes actually. If that's not allowed, then I'd definitely choose the empty room.

Oricolt · 21/03/2026 20:26

And just to be clear - this is not just a busy room full of people. They are all actively talking about you and saying how fab you are.

hopspot · 21/03/2026 20:26

Empty room. I find compliments really hard to take and they feel really insincere even when heartfelt!

Well I guess I spend a lot of time alone already, so I don't want more and it would give me a warm glow to know other people thought I was fab.

OsmanthusRose · 21/03/2026 20:28

OMG empty room all the way. I like people but not if they are all talking about me! Surely nobody wants that?!

XenoBitch · 21/03/2026 20:28

Both sound awful.

Everlil · 21/03/2026 20:30

Both sound awful to me.

Honestyboxy · 21/03/2026 20:31

Empty room.
A full room of people talking about me would be my worst nightmare.

Redheadedstepchild · 21/03/2026 20:32

I'd assume the room full of people all talking about how wonderful I am were secretly plotting my downfall. I watch too many films about the mafia.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/03/2026 20:32

I'd rather be by myself than listen to how brilliant I am.

I don't need to to hear from other people what I already know.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 21/03/2026 20:32

Depends. Am I drunk? If I'm drunk it's the full room.
