Why is MN more concerned about the trans debate than misogynistic men and discrimination against women?

Smurfetteto · 08/03/2026 06:27

Men hate me, a lot of them. Overtly, covertly.

I've never met a trans person who hates me for no reason.

I'm not trans, I'm female and binary.

I just want to know why MN puts all the debate into trans and not male and female misogynists.

Let's stay on topic here. I'm talking about males)men, non identifying to LGBT.

Ok, but still. Why isn't misogyny a hate crime?

Are you new here? There's a branch dedicated to discussing sex/gender issues, to avoid clogging the main branches with this type of thread.

OtterlyAstounding · 08/03/2026 06:43

I'm concerned and vocal about both, and as pp say, the trans issue stems directly from misogyny.

Also the trans issue is recent and not yet deeply embedded in society, while misogyny has been around since the beginning of recorded history, which means, pragmatically speaking, the former will be easier to combat than the latter.

EvangelineTheNightStar · 08/03/2026 06:54

Oh another wide eyed… “why are you so meeean and won’t think like I think you should!” 🙄

Owly11 · 08/03/2026 06:57

The trans debate is all about misogyny- and clearly a misogyny that is so in disguise some people still don't see it.

Men can be G, B & T as much as they like. The problem arises when they claim to be L (I’m L & know of lesbian groups that have been driven underground in order to stay women only) or decide that being T entitles them to use women’s spaces. All misogynist entitlement.

Morepositivemum · 08/03/2026 07:01

its funny that this thread is full and going to be full of people just leaping on you! I agree with the people who say they’re similar things but yes personally I don’t get why it seems to be a bigger thing than non trans people because they’re the people we encounter daily. Most people will have encountered only a small number of trans people ever and they’ll have been fine or lovely!!

firstofallimadelight · 08/03/2026 07:02

Honestly as long as women are arguing amongst themselves men are happy.

mellongoose · 08/03/2026 07:02

You realise the ‘trans debate’ is actually about men erasing women’s rights, don’t you? Nobody on here cares if men dress as women. It’s when they try to convince the world that they ARE women, we have a problem. Once biological men are in women’s spaces, have taken women’s language etc, they are literally erasing women. It is the most misogynistic of actions.

TheFilliesWillRiseAgain · 08/03/2026 07:09

I think this is in the wrong thread?

I haven’t found the trans people I’ve met to be “fine and lovely.”

I work in a supermarket, have met a few and also one that works in a book shop I’ve visited a few times. Very good at book recommendations!

1000StrawberryLollies · 08/03/2026 07:11

MN is very much concerned about both those things. I can't imagine how you could think otherwise if you have spent much time on here.

FrootyCider · 08/03/2026 07:13

You must be new 😂
But I agree it's frustrating. I started posting before the vitorol was quite so strong and sometimes it's painful to see. It's painful to see anyone miss the point that the patriachy/social structures harm everyone - men, women and all. We're not all TERFs though. I've got lots of trans friends IRL and they're allowed in any space I'm in! I've found that in practice, noone actually gives a shit or objects. The women's walking group still happily includes trans women and my local pub isn't about to kick anyone out of the toilets! It's strange, according to MN I ought to be scared for my safety pretty much every weekend, but the only people I've ever been intimidated by in changing rooms and toilets have been 'biological' women!

No you've never met a trans person who hates you.
Well just remember Isla Bryson loves women, so much he raped two, got on to a beauty course had young girls do beauty treatments on him.

There have been a few other rapists too under the trans banner. A fair few others getting kicks out of watching women get changed in open plan changing rooms.

We've had a Doctor, who's sat in court who doesn't know if he's biologically male or female (wft).

You might be comfortable with someone perving while you change plenty others won't be. You can decide on your line.

My line is they are men in female style clothes they are not and never will be women.

Just because someone is good at their job doesn’t mean they are a decent person.

At the core these people are lying about something extremely fundamental, and demanding that we all participate in the delusion.

EdinaTheConfessor · 08/03/2026 07:16

There is nothing more misogynistic than thinking that putting on a dress and make up is what makes you a woman.

You will never get it because you simply dont want to get it

Loveandlive · 08/03/2026 07:19

I for one am so grateful that MN took on the trans debate. There are many, many reasons why the women of MN took up that cause and it is extremely well explained on here.

If a person has strong beliefs on a particular topic it has been shown that facts won’t convince them otherwise so I think a person really needs to be motivated for understanding another’s position and if a person is motivated to do that there are all the explanations out there for you to examine this issue more carefully. If you just want to continue with your current beliefs that all these mean women are just transphobic and can’t see things the way you do then that is an option too. How committed are you to getting understanding here?

Fearlesssloth · 08/03/2026 07:22

MNers hate all men - regular ones and trans ones

soupycustard · 08/03/2026 07:22

Males are males however they identify. There are 2 styles of extreme misogyny. Incels/'toxic masculinity' tend to be treated as 'right wing'; trans rights activists tend to be treated as 'left-wing' amd therefore currently more fashionable. It's a clever move. Both sides are male rights activists.
