I'm no fan of Donald Trump, but..

I'm no fan of Trump but imagine if Biden or Harris had won the 2024 election:

Maduro would still be destroying Venezuela

The Ayatollah would still be killing his own people in Iran

Iran would still have nuclear weapons

There would probably still be Israeli hostages in Gaza

India and Pakistan could be at war

As could Armenia and Azerbaijan; Rwanda and DRC; Egypt and Ethiopia; and Cambodia and Thailand

Russia would be in a much stronger position in Ukraine

Other NATO countries would be spending less on defence.

He's not very good domestically but that's an incredible record on foreign affairs. Let's face it: The world would be on fire if Biden or Harris had won. Trump is seen as a strong man around the world and, outside of the west, that's probably respected.

Well I don’t disagree with you there, but unfortunately they do.

Trump has stopped Iran, he stopped them last year when they were close to fully enriching uranium and then they refused to stop carrying on. That coupled with murdering tens of thousands of protesters over the last few weeks, Trump did what needed to be done. Not to mention all the terrorism they funded abroad. The world is a safer, better place without people like Khomeini in it.

Trump bombed Iran without any attempt to gain international consensus or even the endorsement of his own Congress (usual Trump behaviour). This sets a dangerous precedent for the unilateral use of force to achieve foreign policy goals, which could make the world a lot less safe.

@XDownwiththissortofthingXplease show evidence of this sizeable proportion! I have been following Iran for years and 90% of Iranians I’ve listened to and read about oppose the regime 100%!

HeadyLamarr · 01/03/2026 11:29

I'm sure the people of Minnesota might have a quibble or two, @TheFilliesWillRiseAgain

Gymbunny4 · 01/03/2026 11:29

dancingredshoes · 01/03/2026 11:20

@Gymbunny4at least they have some hope… there is hope! Before there wasn’t! The irony also, that westerners seem to someone defend the IR a country that gets it citizens to chant ‘death to the west’ - that’s you and me! I used to be left leaning but I can’t behind this bat shit crazy idea that they spend all their time defending regimes that would not give a second thought to killing and oppressing us all. Insanity!

I don't have a great understanding of the situation ...I have an extremely left ...as far left as anyone could go .. husband..which causes me confusion ..
So I'm focusing on the women in Iran as what they want as the most important and that is to be free ..yes it is a start ..but I'm worried about more people dying

dancingredshoes · 01/03/2026 11:30

@Utterlybananas333was that actually the US or IR? Trump has zero respect for women and neither does the IR, who sentence their own women and children (who are victims of rape) to death everyday. What’s your point?

EasternStandard · 01/03/2026 11:30

dancingredshoes · 01/03/2026 11:27

Also, all these moral Marty’s on here, if they lived under a regime that was oppressing and killing their women, family and children they’d be pleading for some other country to break they law to free them! Not morally right, no! But easy to be moral when you live in a western democracy

Yes I’ve listened to some speak on the mutilation and oppression. I would want my dd to be free from that too.

itsgettingweird · 01/03/2026 11:30

You’ve clearly been like pac man buzzing around swallowing a load of White House propaganda.

he may have done one or even 2 useful things. But on the whole he’s a dangerous man who just spouts words without any concern for the consequences.

Newbutoldfather · 01/03/2026 11:27

@XDownwiththissortofthingX ,

I think the targeting of the leadership was left to Israel.

Regardless of how bad they are, it is a disgraceful tactic.

Quite possibly, but it isn't going to achieve what Trump evidently wants without a massive, simultaneous ground invasion, and nobody wants to get into that, not the US, not Israel, nobody.

The fact Trump was telling the IRGC to surrender or face certain death speaks volumes about just how moronic he is. Who are they supposed to surrender to? Their nearest colleague? The local postmaster? He doesn't even realise that anyone showing any sort of wavering loyalty will simply become another statistic.

WizdomE · 01/03/2026 11:31

Trumps vision is to make American great again! He has not changed on this vision…. However it depends upon his definition of ‘America’ and what he mean by ‘great again’.

does he mean the American people probably not I think he means the country becomes feared and powerful economically, politically and geographically. With a win lose mentality. He is purely transactional, he does not respect, value or want relationships… but is willing to give the appearance of being an ally only if it suits him and only until it suits him. The American people are irrelevant to him, unless they are economically powerful ‘musk, Ellison etc’

i was actually reading on Reddit this morning how nothing has changed for the Venezuelan people yet, it’s just the same regime under someone new.

this was written by a Venezuelan national.

only 45% of political prisoners released and zero plans for a democratic election.

i guess you’ll say it’s early days, but there seems to be a sense of zero urgency to make any changes (other than access to oil of course), that has already started.

It’ll be the same in Iran. Nobody is considered that it could actually be worse.

dancingredshoes · 01/03/2026 11:33

@Gymbunny4 read up about the situation from Iranian people. Do not use lefties to tell you how it is, as they’d happily let the Iranian people and women suffer under the IR for the rest of their days. The majority of the Iranian people wanted this.

That'll be because the Iranians you are hearing from are the city-based liberals who both oppose the regime, and have some means of communicating this to the wider world, and not the rural and agrarian population that largely supports the regime and have no interest in or means to communicate that.

Fully agree with you about Venezuela and Iran. As much as I despise Trump, these are good things for the nationals of those countries and respective regions.

Not to mention Trumps kindness in offering to look after their oil / other natural resources.

WelshRabBite · 01/03/2026 11:36

America needs a regime change. They have a paedophile rapist in power with 34 felony convictions.

He’s a man with mental health issues in reach of a nuclear button.

He’s currently reversing women’s rights, removing access to medical care and potentially contraception and publicly laughs at the women’s gold winning olympics team as if they’re a joke, so open is he with his contempt.

So if Iran bombed the White House killing him and whoever else was within it (and also bombed an American school - let’s face it, they’re likely to be shot by one of their own anyway) you’d think that was ok would you?

I mean Americans would dance in the street at the news of his death. Not all of them admittedly. But maybe ones who care about the Epstein survivors, or those killed by ICE agents and if you saw that on the news, you’d take it as fact that Iran had done the right thing and the deaths of the White House staff and the school full of children were worth it?

Yes ,this is my feeling,my understanding also ..
But it's hard when your living with such left views ,I often can't see the wood for the trees .
I saw some film from the 1970s in Iran ,and everyone was wearing western clothing and looked so free and happy ..then it was oppression and more oppression ...I'm praying America has a plan to make sure another tyrannical leader does not take over and the people do get their freedom

Yes, and Hitler restored economic stability to Germany.......but.......

Don't forget Mussolini got the trains running on time (allegedly)

YourAmplePlumPoster · 01/03/2026 11:38

The only positive thing is all the daft Instagram "influencers" telling us how wonderful Dubai is and the people who have moved there to avoid paying taxes are now stuck in a war zone.

Wolverine23 · 01/03/2026 11:39

This is the part where they would have cheered on Hitler and said he’s doing the right thing if it was the 1930’s

which part of humans beings being bombed when you campaigned on no more wars, no more foreign interference, complains about immigration then interferes, what about Epstein and the allegations or does this make a hero? The west never learns what happens after and even worse the amount of people who can be so easily brainwashed

Apart from the families of the children killed in their primary school. but, hey, collateral damage ……..

@cautiouslyOptimisticAgain , ok, the post i read on Reddit seemed to have a more pessimistic view.

i wish them all the best, that’s why i went searching for news, because i haven’t seen anything reported for weeks now.

dancingredshoes · 01/03/2026 11:42

@Gymbunny4 he sounds insufferable if he can’t critically think! I’d suggest you educate yourself and form your own opinions!

Eyesopenwideawake · 01/03/2026 11:42

Fair play to you Karoline, you're up early on a Sunday morning.

This is the stupidest thing I've seen this month. Iran had literally just agreed to not stockpiling enriches materials, the meditators have confirmed a deal was reached. There was absolutely no cause to bomb them.
In addition to that, they bombed a SCHOOL. They killed CHILDREN. They didn't bomb a factory or arms depo, they targeted CHILDREN.

There are always casualties in wars, aren't there.

I don't seem to remember anyone particularly caring about all the Israeli children Hamas killed 🤷
