Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Paris, just dirty, expensive, only came across rude people who worked at cafes/restaurants we were visiting. Will never go back

Rhaenys · 26/01/2026 19:05

I wouldn’t say boring, but I found Dublin quite bleak. Ditto Northumberland.

Lifelover16 · 26/01/2026 19:09

Cornwall
Malta
The Cotswolds
Bergen

ivegotthisyeah · 26/01/2026 19:11

Holy island probably just me but I did t get the hype

Arran2024 · 26/01/2026 19:11

Toronto. One of the few advertised attractions is a shoe factory. No thank you. We used to go regularly because my mum's brother lived there. Nice people but really boring.

Wrong! Iceland is brilliant.
Rent a Land Rover and drive about.
Boiling pools of mud, sulphurous fumes like Hell itself (it’s good the prepare 😃), climb volcanoes, walk over lava fields, beautiful blue glaciers, lounge about in boiling hot springs when it’s -20C outside, watch the geyser that gave all others their name, fantastic stars, and if you’re lucky, the aurora too.
Isn’t that enough? 😳
I was also a solo traveller (although also a bloke: sorry about that). I’ve never been bored anywhere, in close to 50 countries. I always make local friends and get introduced to local life. It’s not hard.

But if by boring you mean annoying then yeah: Egypt, where EVERYONE one meets tries to rip you off, but even that can be funny for a day or two.
Really trying hard to think of where I’ve been bored. Baden Baden by night?

We always say Baden Baden, so bad they named it twice! Toured Germany, loved it. Baden Baden was a bad en though.

Valencia was dull, dull, dull. Also a week in rural Austria nearly tipped me into depression and made me realise I am not into scenery as the focal point of a holiday.

I love love love Valencia. Been there a few times & always found so much to do.

Lanzarote

No way. Lanzarote's great. Cactus gardens, Manrique-inspired former nightclub of Omar Sharif, the pirate museum, the Star Wars volcanic national park, caves, beautiful beaches in the north..

It’s horrible, ornate church doors with graffiti tags on, smelly.

I can’t see the romance in the place

missymousey · 26/01/2026 19:18

My MIL's house.

Moonlightfrog · 26/01/2026 19:20

I agree with Stonehenge….I really don’t understand why people pay to visit when you can see it from the A303, it doesn’t really look any different close up.

I find the Isle of Wight really boring and dull but I know others will disagree.

Crofthead · 26/01/2026 19:21

Malmo, Sweden

gingerninja · 26/01/2026 19:23

I don’t think I’ve visited anywhere I would say was boring. I didn’t enjoy Gran Canaria, Ibiza or Majorca and wouldn’t hurry to return but that’s because I went with friends to a resort and that type of thing just ain’t my bag. I’m sure there are probably nice parts I just didn’t see them. I am surprised that people can find cities boring, there’s always something to do or see in a city. The people who said Iceland, Norway and Germany, wow! Two of those are massive countries with so much to see and Iceland is remarkable. Granted it’s like surface of the moon in the summer but we ranked our winter holiday there one of the best trips we’ve ever done.

In your opinion…others say the hated Paris…I loved it. It’s all personal preference i suppose.

Been on many trips to Iceland. Surprised you couldn’t find something to enjoy. Geology is fascinating and the landscape incredible. Love a geyser.
Each to their own, I guess.

Yeah, I loved geography in school, always found it fascinating. Saw the geysers, I just wasn’t blown away…🤣🤣 s’cuse the little pun. I think I just had it built up
in my head to be so much more, so I was let down. Oh well…

Noooo!

I used to volunteer there and it's great. Lovely little (accredited!) museum, fascinating bits of railway memorabilia round and about, entire sheds of historic railway carriages awaiting restoration, conveniently located bang next to Didcot Railway Station, and it's got trains (steam and otherwise) Admittedly the line's REALLY short.

We love it there! The staff are lovely and we love the steam days. We went on the Christmas one recently and had the best day. I don't even like trains.

Center Parcs is fine if you have small kids and like swimming!

Lanzarote

An island built just for people who want to stay in their resorts all day by the pool and eating school dinners

Our resort was surrounded by what can only be called 'wasteland'

Nowhere to go, nothing to do. We hired a car and travelled the whole island on day 2 and I sat DH down and said shall we just book a flight and go home.

We like to explore and stay busy. Even our 2 year old hated it. Longest week ever

Totally agree! We were having a very slow holiday there with a small baby and it was too small and dull to entertain us with those low expectations, plus we weren’t in a resort.

Mallorca on the hand blew me away.

Thurso on a Sunday. A low point on a wonderful North Coast 500 trip (good Indian restaurant though).

Yes I agree with this! Definitely my least favourite part of the NC500.

Brussels and Panama City (I found Panama generally v dull apart from the canal tbh).

I really like Brussels! The middle is a bit underwhelming but it has great museums!
