Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Moldova. Yerevan. Just so so dull, and I'm excited about going anywhere

I agree with Stonehenge….I really don’t understand why people pay to visit when you can see it from the A303, it doesn’t really look any different close up.

I find the Isle of Wight really boring and dull but I know others will disagree.

Isle of Wight-hated it - twee and dull , full of miserable buggers in tea shops and high prices and poor standards

We love it there! The staff are lovely and we love the steam days. We went on the Christmas one recently and had the best day. I don't even like trains.

Center Parcs is fine if you have small kids and like swimming!

Yay! Thanks. 😀

Das Alte Schloss in Stuttgart schreibt seit über 1000 Jahren Geschichte: als Wohnsitz der Mächtigen, königliche Grablege, Opfer schwerer Zerstörung - und heute als modernes Museum.

I've done the half and it was so boring!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 26/01/2026 21:51

I can find something of interest in most places, but a lot depends on the weather, the company and whether you have transport to see a wider range of things.

Some places just give me the willies type of boredom though. We went to Seaton this year (arrived by tram). The tramride was quite fun, and we enjoyed the stop in the wetlands to stop and pretend we know what we're looking for bird wise. But when we got off in Seaton.I wanted to get back on within about 10 minutes. I like hiking but we'd already done the coast path walk nearby a couple of months earlier. We had a brief lunch in a cafe which had little atmosphere then strolled along the seafront for 10 minutes and back again, then queued for the tram back.

I've come to the realisation while I like seaside villages and towns with more character, like Mevagissey, St Ives, Lyme Regis, Mousehole, etc I really don't like Victorian holiday resort type of places, where, frankly, the biggest percentage of people who live there are pensioners. Maybe they'll grow on me as I get older!

fetchacloth · 26/01/2026 21:54

Lanzarote. Dreadful place.

Karistyleaftea · 26/01/2026 21:56

I actually found Lyme Regis a bit dull - sorry!
Didn't help that the "lady of the house" from the B and B where we stayed seemed to actively dislike me.
Must have been something I said.

summerjumper · 26/01/2026 22:02

Retford, I used to dread a stop off in Retford as a kid. Or Norfolk, sorry not my
cup of tea :-/

My MIL's house.

Ha! Are you my son il? Dd and sil currently visiting from Amsterdam. On the dreichest, greyest, bleakest, wettest week of the year. We live in a lovely, if quiet, rural town. But if you can't see further than 20 foot and everything squelches. Its only Monday!

Finspang, Sweden.

Kickinthenostalgia · 26/01/2026 22:36

Cyprus… just couldn’t get into it, was incredibly boring and have no inclination to ever go back

Summerunlover · 26/01/2026 22:42

Bognor Regis, camber sands. And Tunisia

I wonder if they just went to the bit of Unter den Linden by the Brandenberg Gate? There's at least 3 or 4 blocks of bland there before you hit another historical site of world significance.

Lady Grey, you were the poster who suggested we visit Schlachtensee for a swim, and I just want you to know that we went and it was lovely, and I didn't even smell the threatened weed 😄.

We absolutely loved Berlin- even the dirty bits- and I think anyone who doesn't like it should try Heidelberg. We went there on our Interrailing trip too, and were like "Well, this is all very.......manicured, isn't it?" 😆

Edited

I was indeed the person who recommended Schlachtensee, so glad you liked it. It’s a lovely walk on a fine winter’s day too. And I’m glad it wasn’t weedy - I’ve been keeping my distance from it in summer over the last year because of the smell and the sheer overcrowding, perhaps we should start going back once we get a kayak again.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree that the streets around Unter den Linden are now completely anodyne, although most of them are certainly distinctly posher than a few decades ago. There’s still an interesting story / anecdote around every corner, and it’s that complex layering of history that makes Mitte so fascinating, even if the current notion of ‘good construction’ is architecturally quite dull. But that dullness is itself now part of the city’s history.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a place and failed to find a single thing to recommend it. I quite liked Carlisle. Aberdeen is brill for short visits. Pembroke Dock was a bit of a struggle. Admittedly I’ve never been to Slough - that might be my Achilles heel.

Hollybobs1 · 27/01/2026 00:04

Malin head, Ireland. There's literally nothing there but its a tourist destination. I don't understand the fascination with the place 🤷‍♀️

soundsys · 27/01/2026 00:04

New Lanark

Franpie · 27/01/2026 00:19

A tiny Croatia island that we were just planning to stay the day at but the weather turned, all ferries stopped for 3 days and the only thing open was a pub that was also a shop that thankfully had b&b rooms.

We spent 3 whole days just sitting in that pub staring out at the rain!

Which are concrete bollards where wood used to be? 😅

Yes - like a massive challenge course for all the local dogs …..
Stonehenge suffers from over-hype , it was so much better when it was open to all to scramble on but now it’s a strange, sad parody of itself . Much better to enjoy a short drive down the Woodford Valley ( give Sting a wave on the way) then have a walk around Old Sarum …..

It's the most northerly point in Ireland. Like John O Groats in Scotland. That's probably why , ppl just want to check it off?

Porthcawl. What a dump.
