I've won the lottery!

I've won the lottery! Well I've received an email to say I've won a prize. However, the National Lottery website is down until the end of the day so I'm going to have to wait to see how much I've won.

On doing a bit of googling it seems that for any wins over £50k they call you, so I'm guessing I haven't won the millions. My guess is £4.32, but it would be very nice indeed it it was £50k. I'm already spending it in my mind.....

For me it's usually £5 on the 'set for life'

j try not to spend it all at once 🤣

but I hope you have better luck than me!

Friendlygingercat · 25/01/2026 04:28

Ive won the postcode lottery several time. The most was £30. What a pity is was not £30K

GoldbergVariations · 25/01/2026 04:52

How exciting! I've won a prize too! However I'm currently abroad, and cannot access the website until I return to the UK in three weeks time.

I'll try and contain myself till then.

RosyPumpkins · 25/01/2026 05:05

Good luck! 🍀 💰

TheCountessofLocksley · 25/01/2026 08:56

They don’t call you …..they don’t have your number 🤦‍♀️
you call them if it’s over £50k and they initiate a secure in person claim process.

I got a lovely bottle of champagne, some memorabilia and to meet various private banking manager, investment managers and wealth planners/solicitors. Once all the I’d checks had been done and the private banking account set up they transferred the money.

BogusBargins · 25/01/2026 08:59

@TheCountessofLocksley spill it! How much did you win?

neeoom · 25/01/2026 09:21

Most likely a lucky dip for the next draw…which will yield nothing.

🍀 for £30+ though!

pizzaHeart · 25/01/2026 09:23

Sounds exciting.
Be careful that it’s genuine.

FiveMetresUp · 25/01/2026 09:25

How much do you have to win for them to email you to say you’ve won a prize?

Nevertriedcaviar · 25/01/2026 09:26

I won £5 once, I was very careful about how I invested it.

FiveMetresUp · 25/01/2026 09:25

How much do you have to win for them to email you to say you’ve won a prize?

If you play online they will email you if you win a prize of any amount. So could be £2.50

Nitgel · 25/01/2026 09:27

Cant ypu juwt check the results by ypur numbers?

Pricelessadvice · 25/01/2026 09:28

I won £100 last year. I felt like a millionaire 😂

I'm signed up for the automatic DD and tickets and I get emails when I've won £2.50 (although it never says the amount in the email)

Stickytoffeetartt · 25/01/2026 09:33

Oh I hope it's a few thousand coming your way! 🙏

BCBird · 25/01/2026 09:37

I had an e mail from Premium Bonds. I imagined 100k. It turned out to be 100 pounds. It was still nice to receive. Good luck. If u post a GIF of someone sitting in a hammock,we will know you have won big time 🤣

allthingsinmoderation · 25/01/2026 09:45

user665178392470 · 25/01/2026 09:49

Used to the despair, - but the hope is a killer! Good luck OP.

Algoquick · 25/01/2026 09:51

It’s nice to dream but all online purchases receive an email if you win any amount. I love that time in betwen receiving the email and logging on to check. As someone has said, if site down, check the numbers yourself.

When it’s a lucky dip, the email tells you so this is definitely a win.

I had two lucky dips in last night’s draw from last Wed and Sat and have two ‘win’ emails this morning.
If you know your numbers you can see the draw on YouTube, Doesn’t help me today because I didn’t make a note of my lucky dips 😠Just going to hope for the best until tonight.

You have won a scam. Don't give them your bank details

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 25/01/2026 10:01

Oh I love this little bit between the email and finding out it’s £3.40. I would use the time the site is down to go check out rightmove and pic your dream home. (Sorry but prepare yourself for a £3.40 win!)

This is how the real lottery tell you if you bought a ticket online. It’s not a scam. Your email just tells you to log into with no link, you have to go back to your account/app. Apparently they dont tell you the amount in the email because when they were setting up the system, it was still really common for families/couples to just have one email address everyone used and you have a right to keep it secret.

But if it’s over £50k they won’t just give it to you via the app you have to call them /have a meeting to get the money.

How is it a scam if the OP has bought a national lottery ticket and has received an email from the national lottery? The paranoia on MN is astounding at times.

I get emails from them all the time to say I’ve won, it’s usually a couple of quid. I’ve had a few £25/£30’s. We had a couple of thousand back in the early 2000’s, but that was before it was online.

VenusClapTrap · 25/01/2026 10:08

Hope it’s a big one op.
