I've won the lottery!

I've won the lottery! Well I've received an email to say I've won a prize. However, the National Lottery website is down until the end of the day so I'm going to have to wait to see how much I've won.

On doing a bit of googling it seems that for any wins over £50k they call you, so I'm guessing I haven't won the millions. My guess is £4.32, but it would be very nice indeed it it was £50k. I'm already spending it in my mind.....

Well, well, well. Thanks to @DilemmaDelilah for reminding me to check my numbers for Saturday.

I got 3 numbers plus the bonus ball and I've won £30!

By my standards, that’s a handsome sum.

My highest winnings were £25.

Don’t let the win go to your head. It did to me.

TheChosenTwo · 26/01/2026 21:38

Wow, £9 🥳
that’s about 10 Freddo’s todays money 😂

Heyhelga · 26/01/2026 21:41

The lottery really should upgrade the prize funds taking in consideration. What can you really buy with 2.50 or 9 quid. I always feel they wrecked the lottery when they added more balls to pot to reduce likelihood even further.

It’s a business & sometimes 20 (!) people won the jackpot back in 90s! So they changed it. Wish they hadn’t too.

With upgrade, a few apparently got messages today (!) that said their Tues Euro mil tickets - for tomorrow - weren’t winners!

My account says I have no matches for Wednesday’s upcoming Lotto draw.

It also says no matches all the way down when I know I got one number on some of them.

ETA: Gone into one and I think they mean no winning matches. I still want to know when I get one number because that’s usually all I get. 🤣

They don’t call you …..they don’t have your number 🤦‍♀️
you call them if it’s over £50k and they initiate a secure in person claim process.

I got a lovely bottle of champagne, some memorabilia and to meet various private banking manager, investment managers and wealth planners/solicitors. Once all the I’d checks had been done and the private banking account set up they transferred the money.

Edited

Wow how much did you win?

DilemmaDelilah · 27/01/2026 09:27

Update.... it wasn't £9, it was £30. The £9 is what I had in there anyway. I can now see my messages and apparently the £30 has been paid directly into my bank account. I checked yesterday and I'm not seeing a random £30 in any of our accounts. It gets paid into my bank account as I pay by direct debit... before anyone asks...

And @TheCountessofLocksley - they do have my phone number, as I pay by direct debit so it's on my national lottery details page... the same as they have my email address to let me know if I have won.

I've bought a ticket for tonight's Euromillions draw. (I usually just get one ticket a week, for Saturday) The prize is £94m so wish me luck everybody!

@DilemmaDelilah good luck for tonight....and well done on your win!!! 💐💖

TheCountessofLocksley · 27/01/2026 10:55

@DilemmaDelilahi only ever buy tickets in person as i buy them sporadically. Never would have thought you could have a direct debit on a gambling site! Everydays a school day.

just out of interest - how does that affect things like any loan/mortgage applications you made? ..you read so much about banks being cautious about certain kinds of outgoings?

hope you get a decent return on your money soon!

DilemmaDelilah · 27/01/2026 12:53

@TheCountessofLocksley I only spend about £10 a month unless there is an extra big lottery and I have some spare funds (from small wins) in my account... so I probably spend less than you do buying in person and it has absolutely no effect on my credit score. It's less than buying a cup of coffee at Costa each week and, indeed, I don't do that.

Going to have to split it with me OP :-) I’ve done the same.

I probably spend £15 over the year……likelihood of me winning big again is nigh on impossible so I don’t see the point. Was just surprised at a direct debit.

you can definitely treat yourself now as the win was bigger than originally thought.

LetsGo26 · 28/01/2026 15:11

Small lottery wins usually get paid on a Wednesday so hopefully you’ve got your win today @DilemmaDelilah

You still play the lottery? Given the size of your win?

SingtotheCat · 30/01/2026 22:14

Good luck for the 94 million, @DilemmaDelilah.
Congratulations to you; I am toasting your £30 win with a glass of wine 🍷

Why shouldn't she?

Tarkan · 01/02/2026 20:36

Well I finally got a win last night. I decided I didn’t like one of my numbers and decided to change it. Was between 7 and 22 and went for 22. If I had picked 7 I would have won £30 rather than the lucky dip that I won instead. 🤦🏻‍♀️
