I've won the lottery!

I've won the lottery! Well I've received an email to say I've won a prize. However, the National Lottery website is down until the end of the day so I'm going to have to wait to see how much I've won.

On doing a bit of googling it seems that for any wins over £50k they call you, so I'm guessing I haven't won the millions. My guess is £4.32, but it would be very nice indeed it it was £50k. I'm already spending it in my mind.....

Ant&Dec come round your house with the cash overflowing in a wheel barrow .
There's cameras and a big microphone boom.
All your neighbours come out and the kiddies try to scoop up any stray £20 notes (a member of the National Lottery team will wrestle them off the kid )
You then shake up a bottle of cheap champagne-type fizzy wine and soak everyone , while planning a holiday and a trip to Turkey for your "make-over"

They let you keep the wheel barrow to take it to your bank .

This is how the real lottery tell you if you bought a ticket online. It’s not a scam. Your email just tells you to log into with no link, you have to go back to your account/app. Apparently they dont tell you the amount in the email because when they were setting up the system, it was still really common for families/couples to just have one email address everyone used and you have a right to keep it secret.

But if it’s over £50k they won’t just give it to you via the app you have to call them /have a meeting to get the money.

Oh, I see, I haven't logged in and just do it offline! Apologies!

I'm signed up for the automatic DD and tickets and I get emails when I've won £2.50 (although it never says the amount in the email)

Sorry to quote myself but I meant to add......

But I hope it's more than £2.50 for the OP!!

QueenofAssam · 25/01/2026 10:23

I had an email on Saturday morning telling me I had won a prize … a life changing £2.40. The ticket cost me £2.50

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 25/01/2026 10:27

Good luck @DilemmaDelilah 🤞🤞🤞☘️☘️☘️

Sidebeforeself · 25/01/2026 10:30

Just check the numbers yourself?

OnGoldenPond · 25/01/2026 10:37

I was in a work syndicate which won the Euromillions £1m jackpot. They didn’t call, we only found out when the lady who administered the scheme did her routine check of the results on the online account and there it was! Her face was the biggest picture of astonishment I’ve ever seen Grin

PinkPanther57 · 25/01/2026 10:38

If it’s a big win it’ll be described as ‘higher tier’ in the email apparently.

Wow. How many in the syndicate. I think they only follow up the raffle 1M prize after some weeks of it being unclaimed. Winners sometimes miss this if playing on a paper ticket!

CelticSilver · 25/01/2026 10:45

OP is either on her way to Monaco or looking at her £3.50 prize (minus the cost of the ticket) in sorrow.

TheRuffleandthePearl · 25/01/2026 10:46

I won £30 last week and put extra petrol in the car. Rock n roll here!

Wow was it life change amount each person got or were there loads in the syndicate?

There were about 20 of us, so not enough to retire on but a decent lump of cash that makes a difference. One of my staff used it to buy a house in Ireland which had always been her dream. She moved out there permanently a couple of years afterwards and has made a great life for herself.

Uhghg · 25/01/2026 10:50

I assumed that they only email you if you win big.

So imagine my disappointment when I logged in to wonder how many millions I’d won to find out I’d won a lucky dip 🙃

How lovely. Congratulations.

You have won a scam. Don't give them your bank details

If you play online you get an email if you have set up.preferences when you win

DoAWheelie · 25/01/2026 10:54

I had the same happen yesterday got the email at 3am but the site closed overnight. Couldn't get back to sleep as I was too excited.

Finally got my results at 7am and it was £2.40. I decided to blow it on a £2 instant win game and won £6 which bought me some fish and chips for dinner.

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2026 10:59

I don’t even play the lottery but I’m invested in the op’s win!
good luck - hope it’s more than £2.50 and enough to retire on 🤞🏽

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 25/01/2026 11:05

My mum got a you've won a prize email at 8.40pm last night. They usually come in after midnight, she won a massive £3

Kimura · 25/01/2026 11:31

When I was in my early 20s my nan used to buy me a lottery ticket every week. Whenever I visited there was a big pile to go through, but I was lucky if I got a single tenner. On one visit, we were checking the numbers on Ceefax and found a ticket with 4 matches.

When I was in college a girl in one of my classes had won £90,000, and for some reason I was convinced she'd got it from four numbers.

I legged it down the street to the corner shop to get the ticket checked. In my mind I'd already spent half of it, so imagine my disappointment when instead of breaking out the bubbly, he opened his till and handed me 82 quid 😂

Worryabouteverything · 25/01/2026 11:34

I had an email before Christmas that I'd won a prize in the post code lottery.
Teabags and a pair of socks.

My friend in a different area won Headphones.
