All very sad especially at Christmas.

There's a feud in our wider family that is under control at the moment, but still simmering away. It is difficult to deal with for us all, so I can't imagine what it must be like for families in the public eye (for whatever reason).

Miranda65 · 23/12/2025 12:08

The thing about the Beckhams has always been that - in spite of all their wealth and success - they are actually incredibly ordinary. It is one of the things that makes them popular.
And just like lots of other ordinary families, they don't always get on. That's it.

I've always got the impression that Romeo is Goldenballs' golden child, for following him into football and modelling and for being super-confident in the way middle children (pre-Harper) often are. David is openly super-affectionate with Romeo whereas Brooklyn always looked like he was squirming next to his dad in Beckham family line-up photos.

I also suspect Brooklyn's childhood was less than idyllic. He was five when the Rebecca Loos affair allegedly happened – it can't have been an easy atmosphere for a child to be in for however many years it took his parents to get past it. Not to mention growing up around a mum with an eating disorder – that alone might cause anxiety in a child – and being ridiculed every time he tries to find his path in life.

Maybe his wife and her family gives him a sense of calm he's been missing for a very long time.

That maybe so but Romeo is hardly a world class footballer his Dad ,he first played for the club his Dad part owned
And then was loaned to Brentford B team
Apparently hes now left to pursue a career in modelling 🙄

ThePoshUns · 23/12/2025 12:11

There’s a story in house of Beckham about D and B being at Glastonbury, D was there with his girlfriend. V got wind and decided to helicopter in, B was sent to stall her so D could get rid of the other woman. My thoughts are B has had enough of playing’happy families’ when they are anything but.

The Peltz family are def not ordinary but maybe it’s a bit like Jackie K moving on to Aristotle O - they offer stability, £, power but at price of personal freedom.

Just echoing what a lot of others have already said but no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Yes, they appear to have “everything” in terms of material wealth but that’s worthless if you don’t have happiness in your life. Brooklyn has had a lot to deal with growing up, his dad’s blatant disrespect of his mother and Victoria’s ongoing eating disorder, that’s a very tough environment to be growing up in never mind it all playing out so publicly. Also, none of the kids having any kind of purpose in life, in terms of job, is that because the focus was always on the parents and their wants and needs? I don’t know but those kids don’t seemed to have reached their potential. The parents ensure they reached their full potential though. Speaking from personal experience of NC, nobody does it lightly, it’s simply too traumatic. It many ways it’s easier to stay with your family of origin so Brooklyn has my sympathies.

Actually, he signed for Arsenal's youth team when he was 11 because he was seen as having huge potential and a right foot to match his dad's. But for whatever reason, he stalled. Then he took up tennis and was trained by Andy Murray before going back to football.

So definitely more sports potential than Brooklyn.

I don’t disagree but billionaire fam are a different species, what if there are growing T&Cs? Nicola’s father seemed front & centre re: vow renewals. Odd. There were also conditions re: wedding ‘Victoria mustn’t know this’ etc. What if that’s tip of iceberg?

That’s interesting. I wonder if he lacked the hunger & how much of that is a pre requisite for success?

Apparently Brooklyn was also signed by Arsenal, but let go at 16
That's the thing about sport you can have all the training in the world
With the best coach's but your never going to hit the big time unless you hsve serious talent
I csn only think of two footballers, that followed in their Fathers,' foot steps and made it
Jamie Redknapp and Frank Lampard .

Ya, I don’t think her family would be the healthiest in terms of dynamics either. Her parents are billionaires, it takes a certain type of personality to be that driven, to achieve that much. I’m guessing her parents are used to getting their way and I’m sure NP has picked up some of this. I suppose BB could be vulnerable to people like the P family, if they are toxic or dysfunctional, as that’s all he potentially knows? He probably grew up normalising a lot of dysfunction which is tough. It’s all speculation though, who knows what really happened.

I think he just wasn't good enough for top-flight football.

Snorlaxo · 23/12/2025 12:42

Totally agree that it probably wasn’t a happy experience growing up in that family and being married to N means enjoying wealth but doing fewer photo ops.

The fact that the Beckhams are making comments like we don’t block him, he blocked us is fuelling the drama and clickbait. They saw how the Sussex drama played out over the last few years and need to shut up if they really want a reconciliation.

Very sad that Harper seems to be encouraged into something like being an influencer. Surely the benefit of having having wealthy parents and a top education is that you can pick a career regardless of how little it paid (thinking of V’s fashion line here)

Snorlaxo · 23/12/2025 12:45

I wonder if youth contracts come with “behaviour requirements” like not being photographed everywhere and not travelling extensively because it would affect performance.

We can’t know but you’re right on self made billionaires. Ruthless almost certainly & likely very controlling.

True but Arsenal’s youth team will surely only sign the extremely promising & talented. The bar surely will be very high?

She’s been at a lovely school with a really good ethos. That bodes well.

Hopefully she’s made some really good friends. Launching her own low cost fashion brand or similar a good idea in time, maybe? Her peers will likely go to Uni, hopefully she’ll follow & get related experience & live as a relatively normal teen.

If VB I’d be pushing Uni unless H is very academically weak.

On one of the previous threads about famous kids, someone came on and said their child was at school with Harper and she apparently didn’t ever do homework and wasn’t engaged with education at all. But who knows? 🤷‍♀️

I find it hard to understand how people with that amount of wealth can get it so wrong. And yet other people eg the one from the boy band with the very tall son (Gary Barlow maybe?) can do things so much better.

Gary Barlow never pushed his kids into the public eye. He protected them, and gave them as ordinary a childhood as possible. The Beckham's have failed their children.

I think the Beckhams are terrible for trying to make out all the kids are incredibly talented in someway but if non of them are academic that's not really their fault although you would encourage them to at least do their homework and try their best.

ThePoshUns · 23/12/2025 13:36

Yes even their good friend Gordon Rmasay’s children, some have ordinary jobs. Isn’t one in the armed forces or fire brigade? The one daughter was in strictly not sure what the other one does apart from upsetting Adam Peary’s mother?!

If true they lack the DB & VB drive & ambition. Rocco Richie & some other super rich kids seem to have it - what marks them out I wonder? Rosamund Pike used resources to ensure kids bilingual why not do that if you have means to make it so, why not? A starting point & string to bow.

V&D aren’t very bright. Football and singing are talents but they’re not indicative of intelligence as such. They probably just assumed they would pay for a fancy education and it would all be fine as they have connections.

CutePixieGirl · 23/12/2025 13:49

I like the Beckhams and their families and I think they fell into creating a kind of celebrity royal family/dynasty.

I think they were right to make it known that they did not block Brooklyn and that had come from him.

I do feel sorry for them; they have always seemed very full of love towards their children. I imagine this is utterly heart-breaking and very difficult for them.

Boododedoop · 23/12/2025 13:54

There are lots of funny ' blind items' about them calling the paparazzi on themselves

And no proof whatsoever that apart from one affair he’s ever had another one.
