All very sad especially at Christmas.

The Last Airbender & some edgy movie.

Yeah I googled - she wasn’t known ‘known’ before marrying a Beckham though was she?

PinkPanther57 · 23/12/2025 14:45

IAmKerplunk · 23/12/2025 14:30

To be fair I hadn’t realised she had appeared in so much

She started at 11? Nothing since 2022

Edited

Some cynics say she got with BB to boost her profile re: movies.

The House of Beckham is an interesting read. It portrays both V and D as money obsessed, they quickly realised that they were worth more together than apart and ruthlessly protect brand Beckham. This includes portraying themselves as a tight family unit and sadly have exploited their children to pursue this. Maybe Brooklyn has merely had enough?

But didn't he marry into an even richer family? And made a spectacle out of their own wedding?

I agree that both Beckhams seem money obsessed. I don't think anything would ever be enough for them. Obviously I don't really have a clue but from the outside looking in, their relationship seems really toxic. Victoria seems to adore David, but he seems at best indifferent to her, only holding on because of their fading 'brand'. And he's likely been cheating on her for at least the past two decades. I wouldn't want that 'relationship' for all the money in the world.

Soonenough · 23/12/2025 14:48

MN is always saying to enforce boundaries with your MIL so maybe that is what Nicola is doing . And Brooklyn is supporting his wife . In UK the Beckhams might be a big deal but not on a huge level in the US . They both married very young and maybe both parents tried to influence them .
Imagine what MN would say if a MIL tried to make a bride choose a dress that MIL wanted . Or if it was implied that she had more style than Americans .

The other two boys are also acting too old for their years with their much older girlfriends . Wonder if V and D have learned their lesson with Brooklyn and keeping quiet even if they don't approve .

Too much too soon recipe for disaster no matter who you are.

I think Victoria is bright,
Whilst she was in the spice Girls, she didn't do much if any of the signing, she was in there purely becsuse of the posh spice persona
David was a hugely talented footballer
But without Victoria marketing them as Brand Beckham I think he would have either now living a very comfortable life in relative obscurity
Or he might have gone the Gary Linekar, and Gary Neville and be a sports commentator..

I think VB is savvy & very tenacious. Like the most successful CEOs, she’s surrounded herself with & hired the best in her industry & grown & evolved.

But almost everybody in the world loving their children. It’s the minimum base line of parenting. How is loving your children notable in any way?

Exactly. It’s a bloody low bar isn’t it.

She has appeared in 17 films/TV shows in 18 years. Is that a lot for a 31 year-old working actress? Seems on the low side.

The lead actress in the last film I watched, Zooey Deutsch, is also 31 and also a nepo baby (who isn’t these days?!) and she’s been in 38 films/TV shows in 14 years, according to Wikipedia.

That’s interesting. I wonder if he lacked the hunger & how much of that is a pre requisite for success?

The thing about football, and sports in general, is that it's a meritocracy. If you're not good enough you won't make the cut, no matter who your parents are. Whereas with acting, modelling, music and the like, having a famous parent is often enough to ease you past the competition, even with modeest talent.

If you think about it, there are very few cases of the sons of famous footballers having a comparable career, despite all the opportunities and encouragement they'll have had. Sporting talent is not a heritable trait.

The Arsenal junior team suggested real potential if place gained on merit.

So the gossip is his mum liked a post of his on Instagram. Apparently this has made him feel anxious, that he’s always worried about how she will interact with his social media and it makes him feel on edge so he’s now blocked the whole family.

I mean she can of course make a new Instagram from a different email and follow him on that if she wanted to I guess. If she needs recipe suggestions, etc.

I think that he got sick of the fact that if his family liked any of his posts then the other people just end up derailing it and talking about his family. But then they do that anyway because he publicly shunned them. It seems like it's all his followers ever comment on.

I doubt posh is after any recipe suggestions!

It's mad that the Beckhams would even try to engage on social media in full view of the public eye at this point.

If his mother wanted to like a post or encourage his cooking efforts or whatever surely a private message would be better. Or perhaps he's blocked them on everything. How sad.

Not sure there is any evidence of that quite the opposite given the multi millions lost over decades on her vanity project - obvs DB slung her a bone in the form of hush money and a project to keep her off his back.

I agree that BB would have had a hideous childhood both publicly and privately. As the oldest (like Prince William) he was most likely parentified, emotionally enmeshed with VB specifically and would have had poor boundaries with him leaning on him where he would likely be absorbing her angst. You can see how he acts in that unhealthy Co-dep soothing way with his wife who is similarly sulky and seems permanently dissatisfied.

I think the Doc showed her entrepreneurial evolution. Agree on BB & NP from what I’ve observed, there seems to be a real power imbalance.

Plus it’s a numbers game too. Do you know how many boys who are on the books of a professional team at 14 make it to senior pro level (Prem and D1,2 and 3?) It’s 1% of the intake per year. Just 1%. The rest are jettisoned off at various stages of their teens.

And if they do get to that stage, they still haven’t made it. My cousin’s son plays for a top 6 Premiership side, including first team Prem matches and European games, yet is on loan to a European side to get playing time because there isn’t room in his contracted club for him. He’s still only 21.

I think the Beckhams have made the mistake of thinking that their kids would have an easy ride in the same industries that their parents did (DB has said he was disappointed that none of his kids became footballers and I’d lay money on VB steering her daughter into fashion) but both those industries require genuine talent, talent and dedication and those kids have grown up with silver spoons in their mouths in the public eye. The biggest mistake D&VB made is not ensuring that their kids had a back up career option.

I think it’s easier to buy your way into fashion but you’ll need the interest. A fashion influencer likely an easier & more lucrative path esp with connections.

The doc was also a vanity project - probs a strategic move / showcase to ultimately sell the business.

It’s only very recently after haemorrhaging thirty odd million pounds (and an attempt to suck up public funds via furlough) turned a profit and only after an expert business person took over.

I remember seeing footage of HB writing some wish on something and it was that she wanted ‘to build a brand’ - she was about 10. How sad and limited. She wouldn’t have even known what she was talking about or what it involved - especially if she was looking at her DM’s business skills.

Also what has HB got to offer - a cookie cutter of her mother’s aging and dull clothes for a teenager - doesnt add up. No teen would dress like HB (or how VB dresses up HB in order to monetise every opportunity).

Yes, professional football is brutal. The vast majority of those who are enrolled in Youth Academies will never make it to the first team. And talent is the only thing that matters, not who your parents are, not how handsome you are, not what school you went to. One of the few genuine meritocracies.

I could definitely see VB trying to push Harper into fashion. Maybe the next nepomodel? Any moderately attractive girl, which Harper is, can be a 'model' with the right PR behind her. Football is not quite so forgiving.

Definitely they seem like that type but all DC attended very expensive private schools in London. I think one of them was Wetherby which Princes William and Harry attended and Harper apparently went to Glendower. They certainly threw money at education. Parsons isn’t cheap either
