Yes its a load of nonsense. Islam has spread mainly by trade. Islamic traders were often trustworthy, caring to the poor and honest in pricing. They didnt conquer they were merchants who would settle within these communities.

The silk road and the Indian Ocean routes are amongst some of these trade routes.

Many people adopted Islam because:

• it emphasized one God without intermediaries
• it promoted social justice and equality
• it was easy to practice without priests or rigid hierarchies

If people revert and yes revert ( a belief that we are all born Muslim ) because of the ethics and social practices shown by merchants derived from the teachings of the religion, then that is a beautiful thing.

I’ve no doubt that the vast majority of Muslims and immigrants are absolutely fine, normal people just going about their daily lives the same as the rest of us. The problem is that it doesn’t have to be a majority that aren’t like this - it just requires enough of them. And of course it’s those that are most extreme in their views that tend to become most influential and powerful within their particular communities.
