Absolutely it’s misunderstood.

Absolutely to lonely too and I think the lack of knowledge around it adds to that.

Ds takes 80-100mg of baclofen a day 🫣

Wow. DH was on 30 mg but couldn't cope. He just takes it at night now to stop spasms.

He does them very effectively! 😂

I get that look immediately after I've given the Ladyship her horrible tasting medication.

But all her fur has grown back because of it, so I ignore it.

I’m so pleased to hear those are getting the support for health issues where needed. Long live our NHS 🤞

Hoo-bloody-ray! They haven't been perfect with DS - they prescribed him Duloxetine at one point without warning him that at his age there was an increased risk of suicidality. Which duly materialised and he made a serious attempt. But fortunately I've worked in mental health long enough to make the connection, and really GPs need more training on this.

But they were there for him with physio, his referrals for talking therapy progressed really well, he's currently waiting for the pain clinic but has an OT who is mitigating things for him and his psychiatrist has him settled on medication that has taken him back to the person he really is.

My last prescription is very expensive. I'm very grateful. Have been paying into health insurance all my life. As I am over 60, living in England, it's free.

itsgettingweird · 08/11/2025 20:01

I did a meds review e consult yesterday to say my BP has stabilised and I’d like to start the increase of medication again.

Text to ask when convenient to call - call and discussed. Prescription put on repeat for full dose, fortnightly ecgs booked and sorted by 4pm.

Ds consultant referred him to neurophysios in August and he has his 3rd session with them Monday.

yes - there are problems caused by underfunding and we can’t ignore the covid effect.

But overall I cannot fault the system and they’ve been there whenever I’ve really needed them.

It’s problematic though still being a postcode lottery. I hope they address that next.

I’ve asked for my post to be withdrawn as I felt, with hindsight, that it was giving a bit too much info away - DH is very sensitive about what I share here.

I read it and am delighted he’s had such a good NHS experience. My bloke’s cancer diagnosis and treatment have been excellent. We still don’t know if his surgery was 100% successful until his next MRI later this month. We’re incredibly fortunate to live close to a teaching hospital which is a centre of excellence where the most advanced and innovative treatment is available.

PickAChew · 08/11/2025 23:30

I saw your post, too. @BIWI and I'm glad he's having such proactive investigation and treatment.

The half mast lamppost flags near us have been removed before Rememberance Sunday.

This caused a bit of a debate on FB according to DH. But as the flag raisers haven't come forward to take credit or offered an explanation the overal consnsus was that it wasn't done in good faith.

I'm wondering how many flag shaggers respectfully observed the silence, this morning.

SerendipityJane · 09/11/2025 11:55

In lieu of tax, a picture from Birmingham today - looking for all the world like a Atkinson Grimshaw painting much beloved of Victorian atmosphere and the ever present sense of lurking intrigue.

The wildlife being provided by 2 ducks, if you can spot them.

(And do not underestimate the bravery of the photographer. The geese that live by the canalside are very aggressive).

We were out at our local war memorial. There was a decent crowd, complete with kids and dogs. Quiet and very respectful. Heartwarming.

cardibach · 09/11/2025 12:09

My concert went well. A bit emotional with my dad’s medals on the stand. Watched the Cenotaph this morning and still watching the march past though should get on with the day really.
The remaining WW2 veterans are incredible.
