Disgusting suggestion from DH - does anyone else actually do this?

He suggested I microwave a cup of tea out of a luke warm pot. Does anyone do this? I do not and never will.

I was going to advise giving it a go, it'll be quite pleasurable when you unclench.....
But no. It was THAT.

DH says I have to tell MN that he deliberately leaves a half full pot of tea at night so he can reheat a cup in the morning instead of having to make a fresh pot. He is an utter barbarian.

(And a cunning fucker because it means I always make the first pot of tea. Which I do to stop him using the same pot from yesterday all day today as well).

Also - this thread reminded me of this wonderful little video:

TardisDweller · 25/10/2025 17:45

I do at work, tastes the same so why not?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2025 17:50

Least he wasnt teabagging

Handeyethingyowl · 25/10/2025 17:51

Reheating cold mugs of tea is the main reason I have a microwave.

Ditto for me. Our microwave was bought within a day of our son being born.

beeeeeeez · 25/10/2025 17:56

Despite enjoying good tea, I will do this.
Almost more so if it's good tea, because who would chuck half a cup of Really Good Assam down the sink, or drink it cold?

I have a splendid pair of silver crocs which I use as to give unsuitable suitors the ick. I also drink matcha lar-ttay despite it tasting exactly like henna smells. I probably would microwave that too.

Anna1mac · 25/10/2025 17:58

First world problems. I hoped for something kinky but ok.

RawBloomers · 25/10/2025 18:00

I do it. I can’t tell the difference between that and a freshly made cup. But I also make tea in the mug and have taste buds ruined by medication!

ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird · 25/10/2025 18:00

My name is ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird and I microwave cold tea.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/10/2025 18:04

Please tell it’s not just my mind that went in the gutter🤣

Jamfirstest · 25/10/2025 18:05

If it’s black tea I’m kind of ok with it. Tea with milk in the microwave vom. But I can’t drink tea….

We reheat tea that has cooled all the time.

There is nothing disgusting about it. It saves making a fresh cup.

ohhh that was a letdown

Yes, I was expecting so much more 😁.

And I do it all the time. I'm very fussy about my teas - I buy high quality leaf teas. I tend to make a pot and then drink it over the next day or so (pour it out, heat in the microwave, and top it up with hot water from the kettle).

I think it depends on the quality of your water. We live in a soft water area, and the tap water is lovely. I don't think I would do it the same in a hard water area as tea left standing seems to develop a sort of scum from the limescale in the water.

This is what that Meatloaf song is about.

Ha ha - Yes! This would fit the bill exactly!

@Libre2 LTB. There is disgustingly perverted and then there is this. I wouldn't be able to look at him.

If that is not a criminal offence against tea it damn well out to be with hard labour as punishment.

Dreadful to so much as suggest it, I am shuddering with shock😁

LizzieVereker · 25/10/2025 18:23

Make him hold a teaspoon in each hand, crumple him up, ram him into the microwave and turn it on.

TroysMammy · 25/10/2025 18:47

I was horrified last week when my capable 82 year old mother made me a cup of tea. She put the teabag and milk in a mug and then added boiling water! I didn't say anything but I had flashbacks to the sandwich incident from 38 years ago.

Libre2 · 26/10/2025 00:17

@TroysMammynow we need to know about the sandwich incident.

And limited apologies for the click bait title to everyone else - it amused me 😉

People still make tea in a pot?

Yes of course, why wouldn't you, its how you make tea.

Plus a single cup/mug isn't enough anyway, so having a pot on the go means the next cup is quicker and no, those boiling water taps are not the answer.

Follow up question for other tea pot users, how many of you are with me in thinking that you must never wash the teapot out, because the tannin build up on the inside makes nicer tea.

DP still brings up the time his DSis washed our teapot. She's one of those women who never stops cleaning so automatically did while helping to clean up after a party and was commenting that it had taken some scrubbing. I just stepped back and watched the sibling fall out.

Tarkan · 26/10/2025 03:13

Randomly deciding to microwave a cold cup of coffee is how I broke our last microwave. I didn’t realise there was foil on the print of the mug and it broke it within just 10 seconds. Turned out to be a very expensive coffee when I hadn’t wanted to waste it and made a fresh one. 🙈

I agree with you. But the siblings thing is so funny.

When I was 18/19 and working my DM would make my sandwiches for me to take to work. Two slices of white bread with a slice of thin ham in the middle. I said to her one day "My sandwiches are so boring".

So the next day in work I opened my sandwich box and my 2 sliced white bread and one slice of thin ham sandwiches were all in the shape of the rabbit biscuit cutter she had and she'd squashed in a currant for its eye. I was mortified.

She said they were no longer boring and she never made my sandwiches again. I had to and because they are so easy I still had 2 slices of white bread and a slice of thin ham.

So regarding the tea I said nothing or I would have to make my tea myself and she may not offer the usual slice of angel cake. 😀
