Disgusting suggestion from DH - does anyone else actually do this?

He suggested I microwave a cup of tea out of a luke warm pot. Does anyone do this? I do not and never will.

ohhh that was a letdown

Actually I’m rather relieved. I was bracing myself for another stomach churning loser of a guy. This is wonderfully wholesome.

I have microwaved tea before but then forget and find it there hours later when I’m going to microwave something else 🥴

I'd totally do that - why waste it?

But so long as my tea is strong, no sugar and not too milky, I'm not too fussy.

dynamiccactus · 25/10/2025 15:58

Not tea but I will microwave coffee.

Apparently it would lead me to being deported in Finland :)

BotterMon · 25/10/2025 15:58

People still make tea in a pot?

HellsBells67 · 25/10/2025 16:01

A friend does this, it's rank. Make a fresh pot fgs, it's not hard.

As with tea, so with life.

Leave him and his cups of stewed misery, OP.

On so many levels he is the perfect life partner. This has just shocked me to the core today - and after such a long time together. It makes me question whether he has been doing this behind my back for years.

Only for more than one cup. And here is the weirdness - DH is very particular about the pot, warms it and everything- and then suggests reheating…

Yes I’d do this with coffee but not tea

UnemployedNotRetired · 25/10/2025 16:06

Pegging -- meh
Threesome -- meh

microwave the tea -- consult a divorce lawyer

Cucy · 25/10/2025 16:07

I’ve reheated many of cups of tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc.

When my DC was a baby I’d never have time to drink it before it went cold and I hate waste and so I’d reheat it.

So the real question is how this came about??

If he used the pot then why were 2 cups of tea not made whilst it was still hot?

sonicthehuman · 25/10/2025 16:09

I thought it was normal to forget a cup of tea, warm it up, forget it was in the microwave, reheat it again, put it on the side, forget where you put it and make a new one.

Pot was made e.g at 10am. At approx 11:30am I mooted that I fancied a cup of tea. He said there was tea left over in the pot and to “whack it in the microwave” whereupon I called him an animal.

I do it all the time with coffee - no taste difference noticed. I learned something by following this thread. A uni halls of residence cleaner in France said to me 'Le cafe bout n'as pas de gout' which I always took to mean 'boiled coffee doesn't taste good'. I now discover it means 'dregs of coffee don't taste good'. Sorry can't type the accents.

Bettine · 25/10/2025 16:22

I drink white tea in the morning, I occasionally reheat that for 20 seconds, but I never drink milk and generally don't mind it lukewarm anyway.

I switch between green tea and Lapsang souchong in the afternoon, which I prefer hot and occasionally reheat.

In the evening I drink more delicate infusions - currently Hua Shan Huang Ya and Clipper Chamomile and Lavender for any tea-heads interested - and wouldn't microwave that.

I'm crazy about tea, and seek out blends and single estate stuff. We're also observant of tea traditions in that we heat the pot, always use a tea pot etc. However, despite my tea-iness, I usually find the fussy fluttering and faux-distress about #myprecioustea a teensy bit irritating, sorry OP and others Grin

Revolting man. Of course we wouldnt do that

Having basically been pregnant or breastfeeding or rearing small children for over 5 years yes I microwave my tea on the daily!

Yes! I had never done it before having children. Now its tea, coffee, hot chocolate - they all suffer the same fate.

Alittlefrustrated · 25/10/2025 16:31

DP does it, if his cup has sat cooling. I'm a hot water drinker, so I'd just boil the kettle again.

Occasionally, in the garden. Is this a thing? We have been married 21 years…I should surely be aware of all these red flags by now.

Pack his teapot and his crocs and get him gone!
