Is 14 pairs of jeans enough?

I’m moving house and culling my entire wardrobe. I’ve sold so much on Vinted, and have a load more to sell.

I probably used to have 40 pairs of jeans and I’ve now got this down to 14. Is that enough?

If you wear jeans a lot and with different looks, I can see why you’d have quite a few pairs. 14 might be slightly excessive, though. Depends on if you have a wardrobe ‘need’ for each pair?

I rarely wear jeans, so only have two pairs - slim leg darker jeans and lighter wash baggy jeans - that both serve a purpose.

However, I have loads (probably 20+ pairs) of trousers because I wear them a lot for work and smart-casual off-duty.

I have two and that’s only because I bought a new pair last week ahead of winter. Before that it was one. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also own exactly 1 pair of proper shoes, plus trainers for running and flip flops.

fyi I have one pair! But I spend 90% of my time at home I’ll so live on joggers so hardly the norm!

2 black coated skinny

1 ripped skinny
1 ripped blue.

40 is comically a lot imo. I have some but I'm slowly replacing them all with dresses/skirts because I'm so tired of trousers now. I always wore hipster bootcut fit as mid/high waisted jeans would cut in to me. My jeans/combats any trousers tend to deteriorate (usually the reinforced stitching on the corners of the back pockets is the first thing to go). Leggings are a nicer alternative, but I wear them like tights in the colder months with dresses and skirts.

I have about 12 pair of jeans so 14 seems normal to me. Bootcut. Mum jeans, straight leg and flares and have red, pink, purple, two different greens and various blues. Don’t like black jeans. I wear them all regularly but very rarely wear anything but jeans.

My initial thought was - are you an octopus who routinely shits themselves?

My second thought was to be fair I probably own 14 pairs of trousers/‘bottoms’ (not just jeans) so actually this is probably reasonable if they are different styles and colours

I have 4 pairs I think so yes I’d say 14 is more than enough!

I don’t think 14 is massively excessive… I wear jeans most days as wear them for work too
I’ve worn 2 different pairs today, skinny’s with wellies to walk the dog, then had to go shopping so changed into light blue wide legged with chunky trainers.
this week I’ll probably wear 3 additional pairs as well as the skinny’s for dog walking.
As PP’s have said you get a lot of batshit comments on here from people that don’t really care about clothes! Whereas I love to dress well and put outfits together nicely.
as an aside…. DH has about 7 pairs of jeans too, different styles, shades and weights of denim - he’s just got some gorgeous 14oz hand loomed Japanese denim ones!

Owning 40 pairs of jeans, most of which still have the tags on sounds like a shopping addiction to me. Perhaps if you wore jeans a lot and you were actually wearing them all it may not be a problem, but buying them and not wearing them sounds worrying.
