"Greek style" yoghurt is foul. It has a weird texture and tastes strange and is less nice in every way than standard plain yoghurt.

Kettle Chips just aren't as good as ordinary crisps.

Poncy houmous in tubs is never as good as the basic kind.

"Steak mince" is dry and tasteless compared with normal mince.

etc. etc.

Plastic burger cheese in plastic wrap, orange in colour as opposed to a fresh mature cheddar cheese slice. Yum 😋

TheAutumnCrow · 14/08/2025 23:10

I am a bit poorly and DP just microwaved me a frozen macaroni cheese. It was horrifyingly delicious.

reversegear · 14/08/2025 23:15

Richmond sausages.. cheap pasty yummyness. My DH totally disagrees and buys posh sausages that I hate as they have a texture. Luckily I don’t eat them much, but give me a cheap hotdog or Richmond over the farm shop ones.

This.

It barely counts as “food”, but it’s so much better than the slices made of actual cheese. They just don’t melt properly.

I love Greek yogurt and Kettle chips but Heinz beans are no way worth the money. Sainsbury's or Morrisons are great (but Aldi aren't).

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/08/2025 23:23

Branston baked beans are so, so much nicer than Heinz. Usually £2 or so for four tins in Hone Bargains.

Milliejacksonhouseforsale · 14/08/2025 23:26

Bachelor cup a soup tomato £1.58
Asda own 70p

PilatesAndLattes · 14/08/2025 23:37

Jaffa Cakes

MeAndMyGhost · 15/08/2025 06:17

Greggs sausage rolls, over the artisan/hand-made ones.

They're just nice. I've made my peace with it Grin

Agree Greek ‘style’ yog is a waste of time but proper Greek yogurt, ie the strained variety, is much nicer than a standard natural one.

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 15/08/2025 06:38

Another vote for Morrisons baked beans and plastic cheese.

Crisps - especially the mechanically extruded MSG covered dusty ones that are 70p in every shop.

mirroryourlife · 15/08/2025 06:40

Asda essentials cashew nuts, very salty… but cheap and perfect!

taxidriver · 15/08/2025 06:40

i used to prefer tesco cornflakes to kellogs
i dont like persil

Forgottenmyphone · 15/08/2025 06:41

In my town there’s a posh ‘gelato’ shop a few doors down from McDonalds. The McFlurry wins every time.

taxidriver · 15/08/2025 06:41

i dont like the oil they use in Kettle crisps

I don't think you are supposed to eat persil.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 15/08/2025 06:49

i have mentioned before my love of Ferraro Rocher. They are fabulous. However I keep getting given posh chocolate, which is nice, but I want the ambassador to spoil me, not hotel chocolat. I think get posters helpfully telling me about very expensive chocolates that taste just as good as forerro rocher, which is nice, but I’d still rather have the £5 box of golden balls than some £20 box that’s not as nice.

FaintlyMacabre · 15/08/2025 06:53

Supermarket own brand cream cheese is usually much nicer than Philadelphia as they don’t put weird gums in it.

Agree with plastic ‘cheese’ slice being much better than real cheese on a burger. I don’t want aged cheddar on my burger, the flavour is overpowering and doesn’t work with everything else.

And yes I am aware that these are two contradictory positions!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 15/08/2025 07:06

Greek (style or strained) is not plain yogurt. They are different things. Proper Greek yogurt I could eat all day, Greek style is awful. Plain is good for marinating etc.

im partial to a cheap frozen pizza rather than £5.50 or something on a fresh one from m and s.

don’t like fancy crisps, I want thin normal crisps though not walkers anymore.

WelshBookWitch · 15/08/2025 07:18

I love the aldi black pepper crackers, but they don't always have them. So I picked up the Morrisons ones- awful and cheap tasting.

ThejoyofNC · 15/08/2025 07:23

The aldi knock off of McCoy's flame grilled steak crisps are delicious and half the price.

Campbellcarrotsoup · 15/08/2025 07:24

Tesco value sliced white bread is the best for a crisp sandwich, no need for any of this artisansal sour dough nonsense.

Tennistote · 15/08/2025 07:26

Birds Eye Fishless Fingers, better texture and taste than the M&S plant-based ones which lacked flavour and had a weird texture.

Yes agree!

A box of Ferrero Rocher and a box of Dairy Milk. All that’s needed. No posh chocolate,
