"Greek style" yoghurt is foul. It has a weird texture and tastes strange and is less nice in every way than standard plain yoghurt.

Kettle Chips just aren't as good as ordinary crisps.

Poncy houmous in tubs is never as good as the basic kind.

"Steak mince" is dry and tasteless compared with normal mince.

etc. etc.

Oh and supermarket own brand crumpets are so much nicer than warburtons ones which are too doughy and stodgy.

FAGE is the brand you’ll see in the supermarkets for the strained Greek yoghurt, which I really like and is one of my daily sources of protein. That’s thick stuff - whipped cream consistency and has a noticeably nicer flavour.
“Greek style” yoghurts in my experience aren’t always that thick and a few I’ve tried have been the same consistency as a Muller yoghurt. These tend to be a lot cheaper for a pot. I’m not a fan of “Greek style” yoghurts.

I really like Fage but it’s pretty expensive for me to buy every time. I find the Lidl Greek (style?) yoghurt a decent alternative when I can’t justify Fage.

I never eat it plain, I add honey or fresh fruit.

PuppyMonkey · 15/08/2025 18:23

I can only ever have Morrisons wheat bisks and their fresh orange juice - proper Weetabix tastes all mushy and other orange juices including Tropicana have a really weird aftertaste.

Aldi chocolate is nicer than all other chocolate imho.

Hollyhobbi · 15/08/2025 18:24

I’m surprised that people still drink cupasoup and tinned soup tbh. Absolutely foul salty processed rubbish!

deeahgwitch · 15/08/2025 19:22

I love Tesco Finest sausages. Not the fancy ones with honey or apple cider or the Cumberland ones, just regular pork sausages. I live in Ireland and they use Irish pork. They are delicious.

Aldi plain crisps are so much better than branded ones! This is a good thread.

I can't remember the last time I bought branded crisps. Happy with what Aldi offer

Sometimessmiling · 15/08/2025 19:38

Me too, anyone know of any?

Lifelover16 · 15/08/2025 19:51

Aldi oatie biscuits are much nicer and cheaper than HobNobs.

taxidriver · 15/08/2025 21:04

i went off hellmans some years ago, much prefer asda/lidl/aldi mayonaise.

BertSymptom · 15/08/2025 21:11

Agree with you 100% on Kettle Chips. I really don’t like any of the posh crisps. They’re never as satisfying as normal crisps.

I also much prefer Dairy Milk to any of the posher bars like Lindt or Green and Blacks. Again just don’t have the same comfort levels.

HRTQueen · 15/08/2025 21:15

Agree that Ferrero Rocher are the best boxes of chocolate I love them or I am happy with a Lidl or Aldi bunny/teddy/santa depending what time of year it is rather than the Lindt ones (but love them too)

I like the cheap value tomato ketchup over Heinz or the posh ones in glass bottles.

I love Aldi crisps over kettle crisps and much nicer than walker’s especially the cheese and onion. They remind me of golden wonder cheese and onion crisps which were the best by far

That’s the enjoyment of them

I expect to feel very thirsty after cream of tomato tinned soup but there is something very satisfying about it and had to be served with cheap white bread spread woth thick butter

and I make great soup it’s not always what I want

Portakalkedi · 15/08/2025 21:49

Well I am amazed that anyone still likes Ferrero Rocher. Was given a box last Christmas, and DH and I couldn't eat them after trying one each. They used to be nice, but as with Cadburys etc now sadly full of cheapo palm oil. We like Aldi and Lidl choc.

VanillaEverytime · 15/08/2025 21:50

I am eating some Lidl Turkish Delight bar as we speak and it’s perfection.

SplendidUtterly · 16/08/2025 00:39

I really wanted to like Kettle Crisps, but to me, they always taste a bit oily.

Asda Sweet Pickle is much better than Branston.
Asda baked beans are better than Heinz.
Richmond sausages make a lovely sausage sandwich (yes, I do know what percentage of pork is in them, but they are so good!).

Hear me out, ok, and don't judge, but Tesco Stockwell & Co baked beans are just like the beans we had in school in the 90's (possibly late 80's). I like them anyway🙂

Comfort food. If it’s freezing outside I love Aldi tinned tomato soup with grated cheese and garlic bread to dunk in it
I also love my homemade lentil and veg one, but everything has a time and a place

Milliejacksonhouseforsale · 16/08/2025 01:18

We use cupa soup during the warmer months now and again as our flat gets so hot up to 30 degrees which rules out me doing homemade soups bubbling away on the cooker.

SnobblyBobbly · 16/08/2025 01:59

KOALABEAR12 · 14/08/2025 23:06

Plastic burger cheese in plastic wrap, orange in colour as opposed to a fresh mature cheddar cheese slice. Yum 😋

Oh for sure. I don’t want burger cheese to taste or have the texture of actual cheese. I just want the orange meltyness. I’m also not that happy that it’s starting to look like a more natural shade of yellow these days…

Same! I make a lot of soup from scratch, but sometimes only cup a soup or tinned his the mark.

Ferrero Rocher are filled with Nutella, both are products of the Italian company Ferrero. Nutella has always been made with a lot of palm fat.

Fun fact - another Ferrero product is TicTacs, which is why the TicTac box is made from the same plastic as the Ferrro Rocher tray.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 16/08/2025 11:16

Not food, but morrisons and i assume other supermarkets antacid liquid is thicker and more effective than Gaviscon. Still both disgusting.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 16/08/2025 11:18

Oh but Hellmans tomato sauce is rank.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/08/2025 13:25

Greek yogurt is strained yogurt made in Greece, with Greek milk. Its description is protected by law.
Greek style yogurt is also strained yogurt. Just not made in Greece, with Greek milk.

I like the Aldi one, which uses British milk and has no dodgy ingredients.

TheWatersofMarch · 16/08/2025 13:40

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHERtotally agree - the only posh choc worth having is Friars - amazingly I can only manage one per day as they are so intense.

taxidriver · 16/08/2025 19:50

i like asda greek salad cheese, aka feta
dislike other forms of feta
